DoubleTree by Hilton Baltimore North-Pikesville

BED BUGS!!! I stayed at the Double Tree in Pikesville, MD from 10÷14÷15 — 10÷15÷15 in a room (rm 228) with my 90 year old grandmother. We came to Baltimore for a funeral for my grand uncle, my grandmother’s brother-​in-​law. After staying the night, itchy red blotches developed on my arms, neck, and face by the next afternoon. Bed bugs bites, confirmed by my doctor.
I called the hotel who confirmed that they found traces of bed bugs in the bed that I slept in. Thankfully, no bed bugs in my grandmother’s bed. And she stayed there for 4 days! They only offered her a discount on the one night that I stayed there. They should have provided her a full refund and then some for the horrible conditions.
It is appalling that housekeeping does not complete a thorough inspection of the beds each day. You can see evidence of bed bugs — molted exoskeletons, rust-​colored blood spots from fecal matter, and bugs themselves — if checking the seams of mattresses, box springs, bed frames, headboards, dresser tables, inside cracks or crevices, behind wallpaper, or any other clutter or objects around.
For 2 days after, I was in excruciating discomfort due to the itchy sensation. No antihistamine or other calming balm helped. The itch subsided after about 4 days to a manageable level. Thankfully no bed bugs came with me. We did a complete cleaning of our apartment. High heat treated all our sheets, clothes, and other things. Vacuumed the bed and all furniture. I still check the mattresses every night with a small flashlight because I’m paranoid now.

Stayed here for the 1^st time last night. I’ve stayed at DoubleTree hotels before, but not too frequently. The woman who checked me in was so friendly, it was almost disconcerting, but in a good way! I didn’t catch her name.
Thanked me for being an HHonors member, even though I’m like the lowest tier with HH. If you haven’t stayed with DoubleTree before, they have a pretty genius gimmick; you get a hot chocolate chip walnut cookie when you check-​in.
Room was nice, nothing really stood out, except the toiletries. They were different & smelled AMAZING!
Ordered room service, super professional, was pleased with their service. Also, of note was the fact that the tray was picked up almost immediately! I hate when I see room service trays sitting in the hallway for hours, it skeeves me out.
Pros: Ample parking, COOKIES
Cons: The only thing that was negative was a weird smell in my room. At first I thought it was the heat, so I turned off the unit entirely, but it didn’t go away. It smelled like that «heat smell». Maybe someone was using the heat next door, or frying their hair with a straightener?
The best part? When I was checking out at 7:45am they asked if I wanted a cookie. My response, naturally: Hell yes.

We stayed in a room on the first floor. The hall smelled moldy. The beds were awful. We couldn’t rest. There were strains on the carpet and the cabinet was falling apart.
The restaurant was awful and the service was the worst part. They got an order of two eggs over easy with some toast wrong three times. We had a little kid at the table and they didn’t bring out the dry cheerios for him even though we waited an hour. The restaurant wasn’t busy. There was no excuse. Also our family had an event there and they set up the room incorrectly and brought out the wrong food.

This is ok. There really isno where else to stay that you really want to nearby. Quite pricey. Bar and restaurant nice but bring plenty of cash. Ive been eating at the subway and mcd’s nextdoor. Brought in my own drinks bar super expensive.
Room good and few worthwhile complaints. Quietup on second floor. Nice also all non smoking. Parking can be very tough and Im not sure why.

I was staying at this location last weekend as a place to crash for Moonrise Festival. Granted, most of the people staying at the hotel who were attending Moonrise were young and probably not the best guests. HOWEVER, my friend and I are in our 30s and a bit more mature than the average festival-​goer (I hope). I called the day before to let the front desk supervisor (Ryan) know that we’d be checking into the hotel early on Saturday and requesting a room early if possible. Usually check-​in is at 3pm… but I’m a Hilton Honors member, and was hoping the front desk could help me out.
When we got to the hotel, Ryan was there. He was helping someone else, so I had to speak to the woman beside him at the front desk. I asked her if there was a room ready early for check-​in… she started to look and then asked «Oh, are you here for the festival?» We said yes. Her response: «Oh, well there’s definitely not a room available for you. And even if there was, you’d have to pay a $ 50 early room check-​in fee.» Um… FALSE. That is not true.
I waited until Ryan was available and not only did he hook me up with a great room on the top floor, there was also NO FEE. I was pretty irritable at how rude the woman was, but Ryan made up for it.
Overall, the hotel was super clean. And you can’t go wrong with the free, warm Doubletree cookies that they give out upon request.

The most Ghetto rooms and service of all DoubleTree’s I’ve seen. I’m a hilton rewards member and the front desk refused my pre-​booked reservation. They were also rude and extremely unfriendly. Won’t be staying her for business travel and will tell my co-​workers to avoid this place. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAYING AT «Hyatt Place» down the street.

Stayed here for a family event recently. Reserved two rooms… Ver disappointed all the way around
First –we arrived prior to official check in time (which as 3:00 p.m.). I knew there was a chance the room may not be ready… the staff was sooooo rude though it was unbelievable. When I approached the desk and ask if I could check in — I was firmly told that my room was not ready by one desk person then the other chimed in in a loud and nasty tone — «official check in time is not until 3:00».
My son had tried to check in prior to my arrival. His name was on the room as well. He was barked at as well and was told, «I hate when people make reservations like this. How are we supposed to know which room is which or which person is which? There are two rooms under the same name.»
Well first of all honey, my name is on both rooms with the same credit card and his name is on one of them as well. Check is ID and let him check into the room with his name on it. Both rooms have the same credit card holding the room and I already checked in online and confirmed the credit card. Is it that difficult? Do you have to be so rude?
After 3:00 we went back and checked in. They were not any nicer. The room was okay. It smelled of air refreshner that was not nice. When I pulled back the sheets there was a cotton ball in the bed. Excuse me!!!
Bathroom was okay — not dirty but didn’t feel clean.
I didn’t inspect the other room but I didn’t notice the odor of the air freshener in that one as much.
Over all, staff is NOT friendly, not a clean feeling. If there had not been a group rate for the famiy function I would not stay there again!

Great place and location for hosting events. Great complimentary breakfast. Terrific distance to BWI airport (approximately 20 minutes).

Bathrooms are attractive albeit small.
Outdoor pool is large enough to do laps, but it’s April and it’s empty and ugly looking. Looks like they just poured a new deck and it’s still under renovation.
Rooms are large and clean. The furniture is attractive and in good working order.
Microwave and mini-​fridge are in an attractive cabinet.
The HVAC is noisier than at most hotels. It woke me up a few times when it came on throughout the night. It was the sound of the compressor buzzing loudly that was unsettling.
There is some kind of click or pop that happens regularly around my room. I couldn’t figure out the cause of it. The hotel is otherwise quiet. There is no road or highway noise.
The pillows weren’t as nice as those at Marriott. The bed was a little soft for my tastes.
The towels are nice and thick.
I like the warm cookie on checkin. The staff is nice.
The bacon in the breakfast buffet is good. I like the bowl of berries. The rest of the food is basic. If you have ‘status’ and get a free breakfast coupon, the service is fine. If you don’t and they think you do, you’ll wait and wait expecting them to bring you a check.
The fitness center is huge, professional, and well equipped. The attendant is a bit too controlling though. And you have to get a fitness center pass from the front desk each day of your stay, which is annoying. If the well stocked gym is your thing, this is the place to stay.
As for the rating, I’m torn between Meh and A-​OK. It’s just not quite A-​OK FOR ME because of the pillows and the gym attendant. I’ll be back in Pikesville in a couple weeks and I’m going to try the Hilton Garden Inn instead of coming back here. We’ll see how that goes.

Hotel — average. Prior review that said ‘stunning’ must have a pretty low bar. It’s not the roadside motel but not even on par with a full service Marriott or Hilton.
BUT
«Crab dip» in hotel restaurant — was a pile of cheese. The closest it got to crab was the crabby cook who must have made it. I KNOW I Should not have high expectations for hotel food — but crab dip in Maryland seemed like a safe bet. But I lost.

First of all the staff was nice and friendly, but what can that do, if the room is infested. I had been bitten by bed bugs at least 20 some places on my body. I was surprised that a hotel by Hilton where I paid 140 bucks for the night. I complained and the manager called as a courtesy only to tell me that their pest control department has determined that their are no bed bugs. I think best way for them to test would be to sleep there for the night. Good luck!

I stayed here a few weeks ago and was very disappointed with this being a Hilton Property. Found my room not as clean as I am used too and the mattress was well worn out. Room was near the elevator so I am assumming, it is a room with heavy usage.
I returned here again a few weeks later (since no other Hilton properties were available) and intentially took a room farther from the elevator. Room was still not what I would call a great Hilton property (I am used to suites), but at least the mattress was much better. If you want a room that is quiet from outside noise room get one that is in the back. I like minimal ‘outside white noise’ so a room in the front was fine with me.
Unfortunately on this trip there was an incident when a maintenance worker whom woke me up even WITH the Do Not Disturb on the door. Complaint has been registered with the front desk. I had the opportunity to speak with the General Manager (Bill) and had a very nice conversation with him about the incident. Followed up with the Front desk Manager (Robinson) review our issues and came to a mutual agreement on compensation for the incident.
Personnally I was not thrilled with the hotel restaurant. I have travelled almost every week for the last 6 months. I found the food here a bit over priced and the quality, sub standard. Drive a few miles in almost any direction and you will find a lot of food choices to eat in or take out. (Towson, Owing Mills and Pikesville) Used trip advisor and Unilocal to find them. I like to find the little places that the locals like. Some of the best food around can be found if you do a little research.
I thanked both Bill and Robinson for their cooperation, and their efforts to train and retrain staff so the incident I had will never happen again.
I would give the facility another chance if I am in the are again on business.

The look of the hotel is okay, and the staff was pretty quick with checking me in. However there was a cockroach in my bathroom waiting to great me personally.
I don’t do well with bugs. @_@

While I enjoyed the professionalism and courteous/​quick response from the staff when I stayed, I will probably not choose your hotel in future for accommodations. This site was chosen for a three day meeting I was attending, and I was very glad I did not pay.
Upon arrival, the hallways and especially elevators were VERY hot. I was excited to get to my room to cool off. The room seemed clean upon arrival, but after being in the room, I noticed stains on the drapes and the bed skirt which I foolishly let slide, still thinking the rest of the room must be tidy – I’m in a Hilton for the love of it all. However, and after a full night of sleeping, when the sheet had moved from around the comforter, a blood stain was revealed. I was offered free breakfast or a room change, but to be honest, what I really wanted was to go home.
The staff quickly changed out all the lines, but I cannot believe I unwittingly slept in a bed under a comforter stained with blood that probably touched my face at some point in the night … at a Hilton. Motel 8, a non-​establish chain brand, so on, one has to expect that sort of thing … but a Hilton? I’m so disappointed in a company that touts themselves on knowing it’s the «little things [that] mean everything» not noticing rather obvious and disgusting issues.

I have a business relationship with some folks that use this chain so I’ve been to a few. I don’t stay here as I prefer to keep my frequent stayer points in another basket but that doesn’t mean I don’t like them. Actually they are just fine as a meeting venue.
This location does a meeting up right–
* Easy parking.
* Clean & well equipped meeting rooms.
* Responsive staff.
* A very good restaurant/​bar.
I’ve been to a zillion meeting in hotels and if you are in the area this would be a solid choice.

Wish I could put a 0 star. Booked my wedding block here and the problems started from the very beginning. Didn’t allot enough queen double rooms, imposed 2 night minimum on guests who missed booking deadline and wouldn’t comp anything despite booking 20+ rooms and a guest brunch the morning after wedding. Tried to talk to gm but was condescending, insulting, and rude. Clearly they like to gouge their customers and don’t appreciate a shred of business. Warning to brides: FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO BOOK YOUR BLOCK!!!

Just returned home from a stay at the DoubleTree Pikesville! What a wonderful experience! Looks like they’ve recently undergone some renovations… TOP CLASS! We were greeted warmly by the staff… warmly & sweetly… just like the world famous cookies we received. The room was spacious, comfortable & inviting! We called down for extra pillows and in no time, we were swimming in additional pillows. Oh… the restaurant… YUMMO! I highly recommend the Shrimp Imperial, hubby loved the Rib Eye Steak Hoagie. The breakfast buffet this morning was very nice & filling. Our server this morning, Brenda, was phenomenal!
We had to go to Maryland for a funeral this time, but the experience and excellent treatment that we received from this hotel will ensure that we’ll be going to the Maryland area more often to visit family!

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. They are crooks. I have worked with many Hilton properties in the past and normally I am quite impressed with the quality assistance they offer. But this hotel is home to rude, condescending, irresponsible and untrustworthy employees. I have never been so appalled by service received by one company and they should be ashamed of themselves. It is a disgrace to the Hilton brand and their franchise license should be revoked until they prove they can uphold the Hilton brand and customer service that is supposed to be synonymous among their franchise locations.
If NO STARS was an option that would be their rating!

Absolutely loved this hotel, there’s a target across the street, laundry facilities down the street, and even more shops. Its in a great location the staff is awesome I honestly dont know how many times we’ve lost keys but each and every time we were greeted with a simple «no problem». Fountainside, the main eatery attached too was awesome! The rented microwave and fridge units were spotless. The shuttles were available to us on request and that helped so much! Will definitely recommend to anyone going to Baltimore area!

Ahhh, seriously? I don’t know why anyone would assign this haven any less than 5 stars adjusting for location.
First off, the front desk staff was nothing short of delightful. «Oh, you’re looking to take the 59 bus to the train station? No, I can not tell you the schedule — but I can drive you there in the complementary shuttle. Let me just get the keys, the regular driver’s on break.»
The rooms were nice enough — with comfortable beds and at least 14 pillows between the two of us – and the mini bath products were pleasantly scented and of endless supply. No day-​old hand soap here!
Overall, a great experience. I was still in Pikesville, MD when I woke up each morning though, maybe they could work on that.
