Villa La PAWS on Shea

My schedule had been crazy lately. I called Villa La Paw at 11 today and asked if I could drop him off and have his hair cut by 4:30. Bam! Done! Bongo was able to play for a couple hours and get groomed while I took some time out for myself. They are so easy to work with!

Brought our Dalmatian Malibu to come in for some socialization. She is learning and when she was in foster rescue was around Dogs a lot.
Villa la paws is close to our home. Very clean the staff was friendly.
Malibu was a good pup and was allowed to play with other doggies. She didn’t want to leave when I picked her up. She cried all the way home
We will be back!

This place is THE BEST! We have been taking our pup Sadie here for almost a year now. We love it and Sadie loves it!
The staff is incredible. Shout out to Madison for always being amazing and treating our fur baby as if she was her own.

We LOVE this place!!! We have been taking our dog, ACE, here for a while and he loves it. I have researched and tried plenty of doggie day cares since ACE is our first dog and after finding Villa la Paws we will never go another place again. Their staff is amazing. Knows every ones dog by name and gets just as excited to see your dog as your dog is to see them. Now I s in a previous review that their dog was outside in the heat but you have to understand they have it all figured out. Yes, It is hot outside but they have industrial fans, misters, swim pools scattered, and shade structures everywhere. It is pretty much a water park for dogs and i do not think there is a dog in there that would complain. Overall, This place has it all figured out on how to keep your dog and yourself happy. Keep kicking butt Villa la Paws!!!

Ok so first of all I don’t leave a review unless it was a wonderful experience and everyone should know about it. or unfortunately a bad experience.
I took my 2 fur babies here about 2 weeks ago and the seemed happy when I picked them up –Yay! So i decided to start taking them here for indoor play time to burn some energy paying with other dogs. Well that isn’t the case. I dropped my 2 fur babies off here at 3pm today (a Saint Bernard and a Lab mix) and asked them to limit their time outside to like 10 mins as it it still 106 degrees outside and having a Saint Bernard she gets hot easily and can get heatstroke. I got home and turned on the web camera’s at about 3:30pm so I could watch them play. I see them outside. I call at little after 4 as they are still outside and ask that they be brought inside. (I can see them outside still its the only Saint Bernard there). They bring them inside and I can see them on the (Happy Trails North) cam. Ok. They are in that room by themselves for about 10 mins while all the other dogs are still outside. I’m still watching the camera’s then they are gone. I waited a bit then called to check on them and was told they are in the back in a room that is inside but leads to outside and there are no camera’s here. um ok??? I saw that someone was moping the floor in happy trails north room and then it remained empty for the next hour+.I waited an hour then called again. «They are still in the back room, its an inside room that leads to outside». I asked if they were back there by themselves and was told yes.
Ok now I am pretty upset as its been over 2 hours and my dogs are in a back room by themselves while all the other dogs are STILL outside. Its about 5– 5:30 pm and its still 106 outside. I get in my car to go pick them up as this is not what I had in mind. If i wanted them to be outside first of all I would of just taken them to a dog park. Second. they are just laying on the floor in a back room by themselves!!! poor pups. As I pick them up I asked why they are not playing with other dogs. They told me they cant move all the dogs inside just to play with mine as its feeding time and towards the end of the day and they need to clean. Ok… so you leave the dogs outside after 3pm till closing (7pm) to feed them??? And in the heat? I told her it would of been nice if she had told me that as I brought them here to play inside. :(And specifically asked nicely that they not be outside long. Anyway. I was upset that my poor dogs were in a back room by themselves for over 2 hours and would of been for the whole 4 hours till closing if i had not picked them up. Its the middle of summer. its 106 – 120 degrees outside. Not cool that they leave dogs outside in the heat. :(I will definitely not return as they seem to lack compassion here.

I have a Great Pyrenees who is a rescue dog. I’ve been having him groomed at Villa Law Paws, and they always do a wonderful job on him. I have always wanted to get his coat shaved down in the summer (even tho some experts advise against it), but he would never allow a groomer to get anywhere near him with the electric clippers. I took him in last weekend, and the wonderful groomers at Villa La Paws managed to get my big boy completely shaved down, and we are all so happy! They did such a wonderful job, no abrasions even with the very close clip. Thank you, Villa La Paws, for not giving up on my Rio!!!

This is an awesome place! I brought my new boxer rescue pup Sam here shortly after getting her. I had a trip planned and didn’t know where to take her. I had to board her for 3 nights and was really scared to leave her. I did not know how she would do with other dogs and everyone there made me feel real comfortable in leaving her after meeting her for a couple of hours. I had the ability to see her on camera and was so happy to see her hanging out with other dogs. When I picked her up she was exhausted from having so much fun. The staff is amazing and I will definetly be taking Sam back for when I need to go out of town or just to have her hang and play with other dogs for awhile.

Love this place!!! My Moo Moo has been going to their day care and grooming and has always had an amazing experience. The costumer service is great and they even remember my fur baby by his name :)

My pup, Gus, loves going to Villa La Paws! This is a GREAT place — he doesn’t like to be in a kennel, so the group care environment is perfect for him. I love to peek in occasionally on the web-​cam to see him playing … or in the evening lounging on one of the beds! Highly recommend Villa La Paws for day care and boarding!

I’ve been taking my two rescues here over the last year and all I can say is that they are greatly taken care of every time. All of the staff have been so helpful and I feel comfortable leaving my dogs over a few days at a time if I’m traveling. Grooming services are a convienence as well!

I recently moved to Scottsdale and have been taking my French Brittany (Scout) to Villa La Paws 3 – 4 times per week since we moved… they know Scout by name (which I really appreciate), and she always seems very happy to be there.
The workers are competent, friendly, and I’m confident in the care they are providing for my pup. …Not to mention they have a very convenient location (right off the 51)!

Very friendly, laid back atmosphere with affordable price plans and flexible hours. My puppy has been going since he was 6-​months old, has made lots of friends and is always in good hands. Highly recommended for all types of dogs, especially ones with a lots of energy. ²⁴⁄₇ video surveillance and boarding is a big plus.

I have taken my Toby to Villa La Paws several times now. Our experience has been excellent each time. I have tried kenneling options in the past. My dog is very social, and is much happier in the group care environment at Villa La Paws. All of the staff I have met at various time, including early mornings and late at night, always show respect and love for the dogs in their care. When I have to be out of town, it is great to have Villa La Paws available as a second home for my companion.

Great place!!! I have been taking my two dogs here for the last 4 years! We always see Jane for grooming! We have not yet tried their boarding services but will in the future when we need it. Jane is so amazing with our kids (pups) and she really makes you feel at ease. She takes time to learn their personalities, always asks us what we like and we have never had an issue with their cuts or experience! I was a little neverous bringing our small dogs to a cage free grooming with other large dogs out, but they have never had any issues and tend to make a lot of friends. Jane also reassured us, in the beginning that if she needs to cage up a pup for any reason she will but it’s a wonderful environment. So if you have small dogs do not worry!

We’ve been taking our 2 dogs, Sunny and Patches, to Villa La Paws for almost 4 years now and they love it. At home, if we just bring up the word, «daycare,» our 2 pups get über excited and are ready to head out to play with their doggy friends and the care takers. We can tell they enjoy it because they excitedly go towards the caretakers when we get there. Also, I love that when we do kennel them, they aren’t stuck in cages. Instead they are free to roam and have their own beds. I also like the web cams so we can see them at any time.

My dog JC has been going to Villa la Paws since 2010 and she loves it! Daycare, slumber parties and grooming — they do it all!
JC frequently gets groomed at Villa la Paws — they are absolutely the best! I won’t take JC anywhere else.
JC has celebrated her last 3 birthdays at Villa la Paws. The staff are just so incredible! They are patient, fun, loving, kind and yet firm when they need to be. They make such a big deal when JC comes in that I just always leave feeling so confident that she is in the best hands!
Best part? Especially if you’re worried about leaving your fur kid for several days? They have live cams! Yep, all you have to do is go on the website or, wait for it, there’s an app for it! I frequently check on JC using my iPhone or iPad app — it’s so awesome!

This place is great. I recently took one of my dogs here for a teeth cleaning. The doctor here uses a technique where they do not have to put the dog under anesthesia. They wrap them in a blanket and then lay them in their lap and make them as comfortable as possible. My dog didn’t mind at all and after this treatment my dogs teeth look amazing! Sparkly clean.
Also, I checked out the boarding and grooming areas and the dogs looked like they were having a blast. Playing with each other and staff, sleeping, rolling around, etc. If I had to board my dogs this would be my first choice place.

My neighbor told me about this place and I am so glad she did! You can tell this is a dog lover owned business :) What I like best is that they are cage free so I can drop him off before work and pick him up after and I know he won’t be stuck in a crate all day. They do a great grooming job and are reasonably priced. Easy to get into, flexible with drop off, highly recommended!

I think my pup loves it here (kinda have to rely on her excited body language and tail wagging). My pup has only come in for doggie daycare and grooming but I expect the boarding to be just as good! The doggie-​cam makes it easier to keep tabs on my quadrupedal friend during the day (because I’m kind of one of those crazy pet-​women who cares too much about my dog’s emotional well-​being, etc) and also provides a entertaining break while I’m between patients.
The grooming staff is amazing! Somehow they are able to transform my puppy from a spazzy furball into a smaller, more youthful and adorable version within a few hours (still spazzy but more tolerable).

This review is for the dog training only.
Our dog is generally pretty good. Doesn’t jump up on us, doesn’t bark, can handle being off leash at a park when there’s one or two other dogs around. Sit? She’s got that about 80% of the time. Lay down comes immediately after that, whether we tell her to or not. Her previous owners taught her well enough, but this is where Villa la Paws comes in handy.
We opted for a 6 week Adult Basic Obedience Group Class to fine tune our pup. Our instructor (shoot, I seriously can’t believe I forgot her name. Long black hair often in a ponytail, big smile… hopefully it’ll come back to me) [EDIT! Her name is Celeste Richardson!] based her teaching on making the dog WANT to do what we want them to do. It was all very treat based and not at all about telling the dog «no», over correcting, or using choke collars. She was really patient and made us feel at ease when Tatum was just not feeling like putting her paws up on the step stool. «Keep practicing and she’ll get it!» And get it, she did. After each class, the instructor would email us a reminder on what we learned in class with a youtube video of her with her dogs showing us. This was INCREDIBLY helpful because my memory is not so good for a girl my age.
The classes were amazing for Tatum! When you go, make sure to bring super high value small treats (we used turkey hot dogs, but I think we should have done cut up pieces of chicken) so your dog is ultra attentive when surrounded by the other dogs. At home, we used normal treats, cut in half or sometimes smaller. The practicing also really helped her grow fonder of me, which felt really good.
I do want to mention that there was a dog in our class that started out pretty crazy (barking all the time, pulling from the owner, barking AT other dogs in the class, not focusing at all). The instructor was starting to think he should be taught separately, but by the end of the series, he was a new dog! He sat, stayed, focused, and kept his barking to a minimum. Seriously impressive!
