Been going there for 12+ years. Never again!!! Both Doctors Thomas are incredible as well as the hygienist and oral Surgeon. The office staff is deplorable. Poor service, high turnover, unmanaged. Twice in 6 years I had to get crowns and both times required my having to mange and follow up with numerous excuses on their part. Last office Manager was professional and empathetic: things happen with the lab, I get it. The new OM, Heather is atrocious. She has to have the first last and every word, win, speak over you and never diffuses but exacerbated every disappointment I experienced with rude, curt, condescending remarks, and then cuts you off with the hold button if you challenge her. Her response to a bill after pre-​approval from insurance and several hundred dollars out of pocket was:: «oh, yeah, would you like to know what it was without your hefty insurance discount?». Well, that’s why I pay premiums and they have contracts. I managed 6 weeks of attempting to get a crown since the first was made incorrectly. Similar to the 4 week wait last time as once they have your money there’s no follow up and they forget about you. After being placed on hold for 17 minutes, Heather told me;” well at least she did her job and answered the phone!” That’s their bar and standard: mediocrity, status quo and complacency. No, doing her job would include her coming back to the phone and telling me where my crown is, not just leaving me there and going about her day or off to a coffee break with no resolution or closure. The ladies are young and poorly trained, but Heather by far is an incompetent, detached, and generally disgruntled personality. I’ve had far better service from Freeway Service Station Attendants. Even threatened not to come back and was told, «Bye». They give new meaning to the metaphor that it’s as painful as a root canal! That process was a breeze, dealing with the staff however was more like a spinal tap.

This place is now called Thomas and Thomas Dental. I’ll be 45 this year. I’ve never encountered a more unprofessional medical/​dental practice in my life. The poorly paid dental assistants (I know this because they’ve griped openly about their financial situations) do the bulk of the work while the dentist comes in for five minutes and then leaves. You’ll get three phone calls reminding you of appointments because apparently no one in the office speaks to each other. I’ve now been there twice to have a permanent bridge re-​set because it keeps coming out. (The first one broke … This is a permanent bridge. Not a crown.) The material was flimsy and even after I told the staff that it didn’t fit properly, they kept telling me it was fine. Now, the second one has fallen out and I have to go back again. If I wasn’t already out of pocket $ 1,500, I would just go elsewhere.
The staff also gossips about other patients within earshot of everyone. Do these people not get HIPAA training?
Once they finally fix this trashy work they’ve done, I’m never going back to them.

SCAM ALERT! I made my appointment online for a basic dental cleaning, something that is quite normal and easy for a dentist to complete. 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment time, I was called back. I was given a speech about how great their office was and that they could meet my all dental needs! From orthodontist, to oral surgery, to fake teeth, they could do it all. My only need was the basic cleaning. Next, I was told it was time for my x-​Rays. I told the worker I didn’t think I needed x-​rays as I was not experiencing any dental problems, nor have I ever, and I was just here for cleaning. She then told me they have to x-​Ray all patients and I could not have the cleaning done today because I was a new patient. Today would only be a «dental consultation.» I would have to come back another day for my cleaning. I then argued with the front desk staff who were equally unreasonable and said something about needing to do x-​Rays for any future root canals. Again, just here for cleaning. I left accomplishing nothing and wasting my work leave. Save yourself the headache and go anywhere else. Although if you’re into wasting your time and money for unnecessary appointments, this could be your place, but I would probably still recommend going somewhere else, as the lab tech’s coat was covered in other people’s mouth debris/​filth/​crust. And since I was one of the first appointments of the day, who knows how long the mouth germs had been growing on it for.

I had lots of work done there — 4 root canals/​crowns, etc, and 3 out of 4 root canals went bad in a year! Went to get a second opinion and they documented that my crowns were not sealed properly, causing the problem. I went back to discuss this with AZ Premier Dental and got the cold shoulder for 4 weeks! I gave them ample opportunity to figure this out, but had no response from them at all! This is after 3 years of being a regular patient and paying them lots of cash to fix my teeth. (Insurance runs out very quickly) The first mention of a problem and they will ignore you! Its up to the Dental Board now.
P. S. Don’t follow their advice if they say you need a «crown lengthening» when getting a root canal & crown — its a money maker for them! No other dentist has ever suggested it to me — and it is a painful process — both physically and financially. My insurance company disputed the necessity as well, and I believe I paid out of pocket for it.

Today I had a root canal and two crowns done in less than 2 hours. It is now two hours later, and while still a bit numb, have absolutely no pain. This was my best dental experience ever and I have had a lot of dental work done. I highly recommend this husband/​wife team and their staff is great, too!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS DENTAL PRACTICE!!! I randomly chose this practice and due to change in dental plans. I just wanted teeth cleaning and am fanatical about cleaning in regular interval, which had done recently 4 months by regular dentist. This office (Thomas & Thomas and other names they use to confuse patients) insisted that I had this and that issues and had me sit down with its used car finance person to go over the charges. Accordingly to my DHMO plan, teeth cleanings are covered at $ 0.00 copay twice a year, but this practice insisted it needed to charge me $ 104 above the negotiated price the carrier will pay and added a whole bunch of other unneeded procedures. The next day when I came back to ask for my x-​rays, the used car finance manager told me that I couldn’t have it until I stated my HIPPAA and patient rights, and insurance contracts, then she realized that I was not one of their other ignorant patients that they can scam. I should have walked out when I first notice it poor practice in having another patients record in plain view in front of me, and dirty equipment.

I’d been going to Arizona Premier Dental Group since I moved to AZ in 2008, I’ve had crowns and root canals done there and no issues with those. However, this last visit was something else. I have dental insurance, but admittedly have not been in for 18 months or so for a cleaning so I was expecting some cavities. Instead I’m lectured by the dentist for a few minutes about my poor maintenance, then advised that I need 2 new root canals and 2 new crowns plus crown lengthening on both. As I sat there stunned and upset, he continued to tell me how it was preventable. I asked if something was worse than the other to prioritize, but was advised they are all needed right away. I was then escorted to the lobby while I awaited my «treatment plan». The young girl called my name and asked me how I was doing today, then when I replied that I could be better she laughed and began going over all the charges. She told me I’d need to pay $ 2500 out of pocket, offerred no explanation for the uncovered costs. I advised that I couldnt come up wtih that now, so she just handed me a copy of the plan and told me to have a great day… no payment options, no priortizing the plan, no customer service whatsoever. I’m now happily with a new dentist and I’ll never look back — my new plan — NO root canals and only 900 out of pocket.

We have new dental insurance and chose this office because it was close to our home.
Last week, I had an abcess that I called in on Thursday, but couldn’t get in to see her until Friday. That wasn’t an issue for me. I went in on Friday, had an xray and obtained a prescription for an antibotic and pain killer. Pain killer made me vomit twice so I quit taking that. On Monday, my face was still swollen, albeit, it had gone down. I called because I have never experienced the swelling to last this long for an abcess. The receptionist told me the dentist said it would eventually go down and called in a prescription for ibuprofin for me. The ibuprofin didn’t make me ill.
It is Thursday now and I still have the abcess, albeit, it has gone down considerably, but still feels like a peanut m&m in my gum. So I called to get another round of antibiotics. The receptionist spoke with the dentist and returned with the message that they would not extend anymore antibiotics and to just have it pulled or a root canal. Uhh. doesn’t the infection need to be under control regardless? I do have other issues with an auto-​immune disease that effects my bones, teeth, gums, hair, skin and guts and need to make some decisions as to dental implants, crowns that don’t last, bridges, etc and am not willing to rush into anything.
Today, their travelling oral surgeon happens to be there, so the receptionist said that she would get with him and call me back in appx 10 minutes… that was over two hours ago. I just called the office again and was referred to my primary care physican for another round of antibiotics.
You may or may not agree, but in my opinion, this dentist needs to do her job which includes sometimes unusual cases. I don’t believe that you should push someone into just having a root canal or pulling a tooth or refuse to treat. If she needed a few more bucks, have me come back to confirm that the infection still exists and treat accordingly. That seems reasonable to me. If this is too complicated for her skills, say so. I would have respect for that. Instead I will be stopping by the office to collect the xray that I paid for and find another dentist. I will pay my primary care physican to finish the job that she is not skilled or enough to do. For all I know about her, she may not have the education to even know what to do, her behavior certainly leans this way.
I have had the pleasure of receiving my WORST dental experience at this office with Kristine Thomas and don’t intend on experiencing anymore here.
Side Note: There was a woman in the space next to me in tears because this was her 6^th or 7^th time back to the office for a crown that wasn’t seated correctly or made correctly — she complained that it didn’t fit at all. She was told to come back and see the oral surgeon to have it re-​made. She started crying because of all her time loss at work seeing this dentist. She nearly lost her job and was afraid that she would if she had to take another 6 – 7 visits to have them try it again.

Seeing my Primary Care Physican tomorrow. When I made the appointment, they referred me to my dentist. I explained the situation they said that this was my dentists job, but they are all to happy to see me tomorrow and would take care of me. Then asked, «Who is your dentist?» «Where are they located?» I told her and added that it was my first/​last visit and that I «Yelped» them. She chuckled and said, «Good!»
I am so looking forward to spending my Friday making an extra 25 mile round-​trip drive, pay extra co-​pay expenses, and waste my time all because I chose this incompetant sh*tty excuse of a dental group to visit in the first place.

I had a crown made at Premier. The crown fell off and I showed it to 2 other dentists at a different office. They both told me it was made incorrectly and will not stay in (the prep was incorrect). Premier will not replace or refund the work. They said the dentist that made the crown is no longer working there and if I wanted to pursue this with him I would need to go to his new office. I highly recommend Biltmore Commons Dental Care.

They told me I had 2 abscessed teeth requiring 3 root canals and 3 crowns and was provided a $ 3600 estimate AFTER insurance paid 50%. The dentist was acting extremely questionable when he was providing me the diagnoses, continually looking at the nurse saying,” I’m sorry, I know your teeth are strong, but I ave to tell you this even though it’s hard to hear”. The financial counselor was rude and totally non compassionate, asking me which tooth was bothering me the most and they could start there. I told her none of them! since I didn’t even have any pain. You would think this would have been red flag #1, but I am not versed in the dentist world. So I went home to investigate the problem and options I had available to me. Good thing I did!
After wiping my tears and getting a second opinion, I was told I had 0 abscessed teeth and needed only 2 composite fillings! Naturally I was skeptical given the vast difference in diagnoses, but it’s been 2 months now and I am pain free with absolutely no residual problems.
This office is totally crooked. Look at the reviews for yourself. It appears they hand out root canals and crowns with their toothpaste, and then they have an Endodontist come in to do the work, which is even more of a rip off! If you want to spend thousands of dollars and hours sitting in a dentist chair getting your teeth drilled, make an appointment here.

I had a problem root canal that I had to have worked on 3 times, twice by AZ Premier and once by an endodontist they sent me to. The first associate dentist, Dr. Patrick, that worked on me at AZ Premier probably cracked the tooth while unnecessarily filing it down. I won’t bore you with all the lengthy details but this office which had satisfied me for years royally screwed me on this deal. Not only did they probably inflict injury on me, they changed their price mid-​treatment, claiming that the lady who quoted me screwed up and they weren’t going to honor her quote because she no longer worked there. Is that my fault? I should take this to the dental board because that was a total bait and switch… I tried to talk to Dr. Thomas about this a few times but he skillfully kept the conversation very brief and offered no real remedy. I emailed the office twice and was ignored. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR TEETH AND YOUR MONEY.

First off, I have a conflict here. I love Dr Mitchell Thomas. I started with him when he was in a tiny office and he’s a great dentist. Or he was. I had to leave him about 6 years ago due to a couple of issues. I needed a new crown and his lab couldn’t make one to fit. i never did get a crown that fit, I ended up going elsewhere and paying $ 1100.00 out of pocket. Then his office manager refused to give me a refund.
Here we are 6 years later. I go back to him because it’s time to find a new dentist. It was SOOOO good to see him!
But.
I’m having the same trouble.
he prepped the surface of the tooth so long ago it’s ridiculous 5÷27÷2011 to be exact. Then I went in for the crown to be put in ONE MONTH AGO – of course, it didn’t fit. It’s a month later, and my second try isn’t ready?
Just so you know, I have crowns. I’ve had them replaced. I’ve NEVER had to go back twice or more to ANY other dentist. It’s just this place.
Dr. Thomas, you need to get a better grip on your labs, your staff, everything.
I’m looking again for a new dentist and I’m sad.
He gets two stars because I like him and I suspect his practice is simply too big for him to handle.

I had three pleasant experiences here. The office staff was friendly. The technicians were friendly and seemed knowledgeable. The best part of the experience was the doctor. My gums were not in the best shape and as opposed to chiding me, he told me all the things we had to do and maintained his warm demeanor throughout.
I can’t give them 5 stars because they were willing to help with an insurance problem for only a few minutes and then it became my issue and not theirs. I also thought both my cleanings should have been longer.
I have a general distaste for dentists, so my review is a bit biased. Come here for the doctor because he definitely defies the stereotype of the mean tooth doctor.

I did not know about Unilocal when I was originally searching for a dentist in Phoenix. Luckily I stumbled upon Premier. The dentists and staff are very nice and helpful. They have a clean and organized facility.

I saw the dentists at this facility over several years from 2003 – 2006. First, the staff was quite unprofessional; I guess the dentists are too cheap to hire quality people. Second, I never had a good cleaning there; it literally took no more than 5 min and was rarely done by a hygienist (again too cheap to hire one). Third, every time I went in I was told I had several cavities, so I had them done thinking it was true. The last straw was in 2006; I went in and was told I had seven cavities and a crown needed. I finally went and paid full price to a quality dentist for a second opinion. He was able to fix the tooth that I was told needed a crown, it just happened to be a big cavity… just one not seven, that’s right the other so called cavities were just stains… if even that. I have not had any problems, or cavities, since. Throughout the three years of going to this dental office I spent a lot more money on bogus cavities than if I were to have paid full price out of pocket for a good cleaning and exam from an honest dentist.

They are horrible! They take a lot of appointments and the work suffers. It seems they have a high turnover as far as employees. I’ve been in there 5 times this year so they can try to get a crown right. It fell off 2 times the first year, then they got one remade but it was wrong. Twice I’ve went in and got a temp. crown and it’s fallen off the next day. Pay the extra money and go somewhere else. I would already have went somewhere else but I think they should fix their crappy work!
