The Root Salon is nice and modern. I was greeted right away. It is an upscale salon.
After 10 years with my hairdresser and not getting the results I was asking for, I began my search for someone new in Central Phoenix — Midtown. My Unilocal search led me to The Root Salon. The reviews are true, this place is great!
Melody helped find the right hairstylist for me. I needed a color correction and there was no hesitation in getting me scheduled right away. I am so happy I have finally found someone who can do blonde highlights on Latina hair, it is not an easy task. Lizet is experienced and understood exactly what I wanted. She explained the process from beginning to end which put me at ease and is much appreciated. She has a wonderful warm personality and I love my hair!

Awesome, clean salon. I had a morning appointment and I was offered a coffee or water as soon as I walked through the doors. Naomi was my hairdresser and she took her time in listening to my concerns. She then gave me the best cut and highlights I’ve ever had! She made me feel comfortable and was totally down to earth. I will be a customer 4 life!

Naomi did a fantastic job on my hair! I had been so unhappy with the way my color (done by a different stylist at a different salon) was growing out. She was able to soften it and make it so natural. bringing me back to feeling beautiful! Forever grateful for this girl and her magic!
The salon is so happy. the wine bar and work station make for a great experience as well. I’ve been using aveda products for years but was so happy with the other lines the salon carries as well. Definitely would recommend to anyone in the valley.

Had an appointment with Stephanie and after connecting with her about my desires she expressed to me her discomfort in giving me the cut I wanted. This was a noble and admirable act, she then connected with another stylist that was more experienced and Dana was able to get me in on the fly and give me the cut I desired. Much admiration for this place and will be a regular as long as I live in Phoenix.

My hair stylist of 6 years called it quits so after searching around I decided to book a stylist at roots. I was SO lucky to get Lizette. From the second I met her, I felt at ease. She was so easy to talk to and was great at listening and generating conversation. She talked me into going one shade darker and I’m so happy I did (it’s the darkest shade of black they have). I get more compliments on the color than I ever have before. Random people have walked up to me at restaurants to compliment my hair color. Thanks Lizette! I will definitely be back.

After moving to Phoenix 6 months ago — the search for «my salon» is over! Lizet did an amazing job with my color and cut. Every employee is so nice and willing to be part of your overall experience. After one visit, I know I will be a regular!

I’ve had an incredible experience every time I’ve gotten my hair cut here. I saw Forest the first time and she knew exactly how to cut my hair the way I wanted it. A few months later I wanted to cut my hair very short and asked them if they had someone who specializes in short female hair. They recommended Dana so I made an appointment. My cut was amazing and so perfect for my face and personality. I’ve been going back to Dana every 7 weeks since! The cut just keeps getting better as we experiment with different lengths and angles. It’s so fun. The salon itself is also great. It’s clean and bright and I always look forward to my time there.

Shana was incredible! I have been looking for a new colorist and couldn’t have been more happy with Shana. I explained what I was going for, showed her pictures and she gave me exactly what I wanted! Amazing! Thank you, Shana. Thank you, The Root!

The root salon is the BEST Salon in Phoenix. I have gone to several salons in Phoenix and the root salon always has to fix their mistakes. I had Dani this time and she was AMAZING. She gave me the color and cut I wanted.

Relocating to Arizona I was nervous finding a new hairstylist but I had to start my search somewhere. My first experience with the previous stylist/​salon (which will remain nameless) was disasterous — uneven haircut and chopped off my bangs, crooked nonetheless.
I started my search again and turned to Unilocal.Living in Midtown Phoenix, I wanted something local. After reading numerous reviews, I contacted The Roots Salon. We chatted and I told them I was looking for a stylist with experience in precision haircuts; a hard find. They suggested and scheduled me with Dana.
What a blessing! With Dana’s numerous years of experience, he fixed my botched haircut immediately. He is professional, very attentive to detail, and is a master at his craft using simply his cutting shears. He is easy going and friendly; its been great meeting a native Phoenician who has been the perfect resource for a newbie wanting to explore Phoenix.
Oh, and did I mention… my mom drives from Los Angeles, California to get her haircut by the best — Dana.
I would highly recommend Dana to anyone! He is very passionate about what he does and it shows through his craft! Thank you Dana!!!

My mother had recommended this place and treated me to a cut and color with Shana. I was very happy with my experience and will definitely recommend her and continue to go to her in the future. I appreciated her honesty and attention to detail. The entire staff was super friendly and not pretentious like other salons in the area.

I loved my hair stylist! Forest was awesome! I recommend her. I was very pleased with the finished look. After the transaction was complete, I decided to tip her more. They accommodated the request. I prefer senior stylists. She gave me what I wanted, a medium length bob! & didn’t cut too short. She also took out some bulk out of my hair, which was also what I needed. I like her warm personality, and I love the whole feel of the salon! I also love all of the receptionists! Very professional, including over the phone. They did not make me feel uncomfortable at all! I didn’t detect any snobbiness from anyone. I was greeted immediately. constantly looking for hair salons is a big headache. You will not be disappointed with root salon! finally found my hair salon! Will be coming back often for more cuts! + I forgot to mention, they give you an ottoman to put your feet up while they wash your hair! Its very relaxing & comfortable. It’s nice getting pampered for even just 5 min while washing hair! Annie
One more thing: we are also currently house hunting. So even if we are living in the east valley, I will still drive far to root salon, an hour away. It will be worth the drive!

This is the best salon in Phoenix, hands down. I have been coming here for at least two years and I will never leave. Forest does an amazing job and my hair always looks and feels wonderful! I get complements on it all the time. She also did my wedding hair! Everyone here is so nice and they really make you feel welcomed. The new location is top notch, clean, bright and very functional! (It looks functional to me at least being a customer lol!) the staff is also very knowledgable about products, so if you looking for something specific ask! They will point you in the right direction! I really can’t say enough positive things about this salon! Seriously get your hair done here! You will not be disappointed!

I’ve been trying to find a good salon that’s close to my house for a long time now. After The Root Salon popped up in a Facebook ad, I looked up the reviews and decided to give it a try this morning. I’m glad I did. The salon is beautiful and well taken care of. The front desk personnel was friendly and welcoming. Dana was my hairstylist, and he was FANTASTIC. My hair looks amazing. Thank you, Dana. I will definitely be back! Very happy I found this place!

I had really damaged my long black hair. Stripped it several timed to get the black out to make it red. The red looked great but, i kept having to dye it so much. Chuncks of hair had broken off. I was actually embarrassed about going to a salon, for fear of everybody laughing at me saying why did you do that to yourself. My stylist was Dana Graze. He was fantastic. He didn’t laugh he was so professional. He was great with conversation .I now have a cute new bob and I LOVE IT. I will be seeing him from now on for trims. My hair looks so healthy now, bouncy and fun. Thank you Dana your the best.

What a relaxing and enjoyable experience visiting this upscale salon. I had a weather delayed flight and spent an extra night in Phoenix with a whole day of nothing to do. I called and was booked for 10 AM. I took an Über, met Marla and was impressed with her knowledge about color. Most often I go I a salon and the stylist wants me to pick my color. She asked a lot of questions regarding my history, listened and then took charge. My daughter is sure to be a new customer and I’ll be back my next visit to Phoenix. I recently quit my salon and after hearing many excellent reviews tried this salon. I am thrilled. The salon was very clean and I was greeted warmly when I entered the salon. I had my appointment with Shana and feel so fortunate that she ended up being my stylist. She is excellent at her job and very sweet. The root is great give them a try!

I had a fantastic experience at this place! I decided to cut my hair very short (pixie-​ish) from shoulder length and I wanted it to be done right. I definitely came to the right place.
Dana was professional, friendly, and very experienced. He showed me his previous work to reassure his abilities in a brief consultation before the cut. I have never been happier with a haircut in my life. This was a big change for me and I think that he offered the perfect amount of expertise and advice while also integrating my preferences (I showed a picture of the style I wanted beforehand).
I would highly recommend this salon to everyone not only for the fantastic work that they do, but for the level of professionalism and overall good vibes. Make sure you ask for Dana! He does fantastic work!

Extremely disappointed. I had an appointment at 3:45pm. Yes, I was early but my stylist did not have me seated until 4:00pm. 15 minutes after my scheduled time. I had a scheduled women’s hair cut and blow dry style. My hair was not washed by my stylist, just a dry cut and then proceeded to charge me 55 dollars for a hair cut. My hair was curled from the night before and when I got home decided to straighten it to see if I even got a decent cut (since she did not even wash it or style it for me). Sure enough, I got a horrible haircut. One side was a whole inch shorter than the other side. She even went as far as to tell me I was too young to be getting married, and that I did not know my fiancé long enough before marrying him. I left the salon in tears. Thank you for a horrible experience.

I am home from my first visit to Root Salon. I am so grateful that I looked at the Unilocal reviews and was able to get in! I went to their website, booked online which is SUPER EASY and was informed that I had an appointment with Dana at 2:15 today! Nice! I was especially excited since I had been told when I called them a few weeks ago that he was their curly hair expert. That made me feel a lot better. They are at their new location in the newly remodeled Crown Import building. They did a fantastic job making the salon new and open. Great glass fixtures and open to a courtyard. Back to the haircut — Dana was great at sizing up my curls, looking at the photo I took in and telling me what he had in mind too. Outstanding job of cutting my hair to go with my curls. It has been several years since I have had this good a stylist! He fixed my shaggy mane up, gave me tips and said come in for curl trims as needed — no charge. I have another appointment with Dana in 6 weeks! Very nice local salon close to home.

I love this place. I’ve been going for four years now and Eric always makes me look good. He is seriously masterful at color. I’ve had plenty of bad dye jobs and highlights in my past to know when I have something good. I just had my second baby and I’m getting tons of compliments on my hair even though I barely have the time to style it. The cut and the color is that good. Thanks Eric! Plus the place has a great vibe and everyone is really nice.

Excellent experience! My first time and I was made to feel rite at home from walking in until I left. Liz did a great job. She explained everything before she it asking my opinion everytime. Showed me how to style my new cut and even let me practice. Best part of all besides looking good, she in no way tried to sell me any products. I enjoyed that a lot even though it is part of her job. Had a great experience. Shana was my stylist and I went in with badly damaged hair. The previous stylist at model citizen killed my hair. Shana did exactly what I asked. She listened to me and had a great personality. Even when I decided that I didn’t like what I had asked for not because she didn’t do an amazing job but just because. You know how clients can be. She promptly fixed it for me and was super patient. I had no damage afterward. No breakage whatsoever. My hair is in great health. I was terrified to let anyone touch it after the experience I had at MC. Luckily I know have a new stylist who feels more like a bestie.

I have been going to Lizette for 3 years. The first time I saw her I was 6 months postpartum and hadn’t had my hair done in over a year. A couple months prior to that I had also lost my best friend since kindergarten to a sudden heart attack. I was depressed, nervous, and didn’t even remember what good hair looked like or what it could do to lift my dark mood. The results were fabulous and I got a little bit of my spirit back that day.
Well that was 3 years ago and I must say she is phenomenal and the literally the only person that I trust to cut and color my hair. She is very conscientious and thorough. I trust her implicitly and I always come away feeling grateful for knowing her. Lizette is down to earth, easy to talk to, and very bright. I credit Lizette for bringing my hair back to life

My husband is active duty in the military, and we are in the midst of a move, living temporarily in Phoenix. So, hotel living for weeks on end, plus now I need to find a new hair stylist?!? I was so nervous — and I had nightmare hair experiences the last time I moved.
I found The Root Salon through Unilocal and once I saw the huge number of positive reviews, I decided to dive in. Amazingly, I was able to get an appt the very next week. Between my phone calls, and the day of the appt, I spoke with 2 of the gals who work the front desk, as well as some of the other stylists who work there — and everyone was warm, welcoming, and professional (one of the stylists brought my coffee while the receptionist was busy with another client — talk about teamwork). No diva or snotty attitudes to speak of!
***Lizet*** (remember that name!) styled my hair — and she was amazing! Super sweet, professional, and knowledgeable. She talked to me at length, and went over all of my options. She really took so much time with me — and that eased my nerves immediately. I have thin hair and she took great care of it. The all-​over color and highlights are natural, yet refined, and seriously the most gorgeous color I’ve ever had on this head of mine! My cut was simple like I wanted, but perfect — and she asked multiple times while cutting it, if I was happy with the progression. Pretty much everything I’ve always wanted in a stylist, but had never quite found. At the end she even put a cute wave/​curl in it, and styled it for me, while giving me tips along the way. I left feeling SO cute, and after being «homeless» and living out of suitcase + boxes for 2 months, it was so nice to be pampered.
The only frustration I have with this experience is that I’m moving again (out of state!) in 2 weeks and will be too far away to experience the magical hair styling powers that Lizet possess ;) Oh, but she even helped me there by writing down the colors she used on me so that I can hopefully get close to the same color results that she created, when I find a stylist in my new home state (hopefully they’ll be somewhat as talented as Lizet) — what a sweetie she is! My stylist Eric is awesome. My color is always amazing and I get a lot of compliments. I have been going to this salon for several years and highly recommend him or any of the other stylists. Everyone is so nice.

I was so nervous to get my hair somewhere new, but this cute little spot is great! Dana did a great job trimming up my long hair and giving it a cute style. I’m so glad I tried this salon, and I’ll definitely be back!

My experience was good overall. Jillian was my stylist and she gave good advice as to what we should do to keep the integrity of my hair. She almost gave me exactly what I wanted in terms of color– but I’m sure with another visit or two it’ll get there. Great haircut. Nice little salon.

After my disaster of a haircut I was very nervous at trying any salon in Phoenix. «Hello welcome to Phoenix let me make you look as ugly as possible.» Maybe they were just worried I would be competition for some of the ASU hotties. I couldn’t go another day without getting my hair fixed it was driving me insane. I turned to Unilocal and found The Root Salon. They are extremely busy and it was a little difficult to get an appointment, but they fit me in the next week. I had to go one whole week looking like I put my head in a blender. Luckily I survived.
I showed up a little early and Jillian quickly took me in. She offered me a drink but this time I came equipped with my Starbucks. She asked me what I wanted and I told her «please just fix it, at this point as long as I’m not crying we are good.» I got the Unilocal deal which was an eyebrow touch up and conditioning treatment with my haircut.
All I can say is Jillian Jillian Jillian you need to charge more girl. She not only fixed my hair but it looks great for only $ 35. (Well, just charge more for everyone else. I’m good with the $ 35.)

I could probably write a 5-​page paper about how much I love The Root Salon.
After much research, I booked both my consultation (free!) and appointment online with Emily Claire. I have black hair and wanted blue/​teal, but was afraid it was going to come out tacky. In the end, Emily C gave me EXACTLY what I wanted even when I didn’t even know this was what I wanted, so I’m pretty sure she can read minds and look into your soul (in a non-​creepy way of course). She is so professional and made the whole process so comfortable. She’s the best, and that’s an understatement.
What I noticed the most is that the salon is one big family. Every one in the team seems to be extremely knowledgeable and beyond talented all the while helping each other out. That’s pretty rare to see, so you’ll be in good hands with whoever you’re with.
Also, the salon is very decently priced. I’m a student, and Emily Claire totally worked with me and made little tweaks here and there to help me out.
