They get three stars for the service and the iced tea, and above average salsa! The tacos, enchilada, beans and rice I had were far from steller! I wasn’t real impressed! Way better choices in the Downtown Phoenix area!

Location isn’t easy to find if you’re not familiar with the area. Just be aware. Parking lot has limited spaces on one side but there’s more on the gravel side. There’s also at least one huge pothole too, see keep your eyes peeled. Service is polite and helpful. Salsa has a nice bite and tortilla chips taste like they’re made in house. Margaritas are perfectly potent. I came for the Groupon Tamale Class for two and was very pleased. If you like tamales a d have ever wanted to make some yourself I suggest you jump on board. Elizabeth was a great teacher. Polite, detailed, offered assistance where needed and provided enough instruction that gave us confidence to move on at a good pace and practically leave the others sinking deep in their masa. The masa smelled so good and once we added the sauce the meat was in it just upped it 5 more notches. We, my friend and myself, we’re having a good time. Some others were sporting the face of a sour puss and seemed to disapprove of the fun time we were having. What is up with that?! We actually thought there would be some light hearted chat in between sipping Margaritas and making our tasty creations, but the majority of the evening we saw glares from a couple people across the room. Must have been cause I wanted a double shot in my Margarita after getting off of i10, a mere 1.7 miles away and it took us more than a half hour. I was only half kidding. Overall it was a positive experience, the lesson was informative and our instructor made it very easy to follow along. I enjoyed it so much that I’d be game to do it again. Would be a great tram building experience. I even suggested she offer similar classes through cities nearby. And fwiw, for what homemade tamales cost me just a few weeks ago this class would be a bargain without Groupon. I took almost 2 dozen Beef tamales home. And we even got a warm Churro as a thank you for for participating. I don’t think I’ve actually ordered a Churro before. Nom nom –love me some cinnamon.

I’ve passed this place numerous times on my way out to First Fridays, so when I saw a groupon for it I quickly jumped on the deal. I thought it was a regular taco shop, and didn’t realize it was an actual restaurant until I got inside. The place was pretty messy looking, and chairs were a straight up and down, not so comfortable to sit in. Our waiter came around and he was super friendly and came out with some chips and salsa. Chips and salsa weren’t anything special, kind of tasted bland. We ordered margarita’s, one regular lime on the rocks, and the other a spicy mango one. Both of those were really good. We both ordered a chimichanga, one chicken the other green chili beef, also very bland tasting. I wouldn’t go back, just cause the food is bland, and the ambiance was kind of stale and weird.

Typically on first Fridays this is my first stop. They seriously have the best Micheladas EVER! they totally satisfy my craving for them! I love their Menudo as well, just perfect! Once I arrived just about closing time and they still served me. I thought it was so nice of them! Great Service! Jose is Awesome!

Food was great, hot and fresh. The salsa was spicier than I was expecting and it is good! Portions are good sized and the beans and thrice are on point. I wish there had been some music playing to add to the ambiance. Overall great place and will come again.

Very small place, but cranked out amazing food. Probably one of the best mini hardshell tacos I’ve had in a while. Super crispy, not greasy at all. The flauta was the same, and the cheese enchilada was to die for. I give the rice and refried beans two big thumbs up. My bf had the chille reanos, and he was very pleased. Real diamond in the rough, and the prices were reasonable, especially considering the quality. Good stuff, good service, great food.

I thought this place was ok. I thought it was a taco shop but they have other small selections. It is very small. The waitress took a while to serve us and didn’t even bother coming around asking if «everything is ok.» If customer service was a bit better I would have given them 4 stars.

Food was tasty, but was expensive for what you get. Worth checking out if you are in the area.

Arrived Saturday afternoon when no other diners were in the restaurant at the time. Jose was excellent and most professional. The Cheese Crisp was perfect golden brown; blanco menudo was loaded full of meat and a HUGE bowl of it; the tacos were full of lean shredded beef; I believe the cheese enchilada was the best I’ve ever eaten; the green chili burrito was excellent. We absolutely loved everything single thing we tried. My only disappointment is that they are closed so early through out the week — or I would be there again, and again, and again.

Carne asada burrito with light on beans, cheese and pico de gallo was delicious. The meat was great. Not the usual smothered with liquid. Was delicious! Will be back again… I ordered to go.

The restaurant was nice and quiet. The food portions were generous even for a lunch. The food was served quickly and was correct. I had the red chile burrito served enchilada style with rice and beans. Chips and salsa at the start of meal is a must and they had them. The only issue I had was I had a glass of iced tea with no refill or offer of refull. Other than that a good place to eat. I will be going back. If you are headed north on 7th Street it is just past the bus depot on the right.

I ordered over the phone, lady spoke minimal English, and did not inform me it was cash pay only. I went in at 1:30 in the afternoon and waited in line for over 15 minutes only to get to the front and was told they couldn’t take my card, no sign posted at all. Burrito was not hot and mediocre with way too much refrained beans, which I asked for half the amount. Won’t be coming here again.

I judge all Mexican restaurants by their chips and salsa, rice, beans, tacos and enchiladas. I have to say this place hits the spot. The rice and beans remind me of my moms home cooking. The chips are warm and served with green and red salsa, both delicious. The enchilada sauce isn’t bad at all, although I’ve had better, and the hard shell taco has a nice crisp to it. I really enjoyed both the food and atmosphere at this place. This place felt authentic and comforting. The staff and even the customers are all Mexican… Except for me, the half breed. I’m definitely coming back to try their Camarones al mojo de ajo.

Fantastic food, great service, cool ambience. The server made a mistake on my order and gave me a red burrito instead of a green. He removed it from my check without me asking. I thought this was pretty cool. I had a red chili burro & my wife had a tostada. Both were fantastic and the price was right. We ordered off the lunch menu. They could probably pick up their game on their chips and salsa. That withstanding, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. ~Jim

The food was pretty good — the salsa was SUUUUUUUUUPERHOT and deelish!!! The service? Blegh… made us feel as if we were putting her out by asking for more iced tea, soda, whatevs. No warmth, friendliness, nothin’! Girlfriend made me miss out on some flan because we feared we would never see her again or would have to wait 15 – 20 minutes for her to get it… and you don’t make me miss out on flan +serious face+. Would go back again, but will not go at the same time…

I pass by this place almost everyday and decided to try it out today. Chips, salsa, rice, beans and hard shell beef tacos were all good and a reasonably priced. Had to go up to the counter to get the servers attention for a glass of water. When she brought it over to the table I asked if it was always this warm inside and her response was it was a hot day. Not really the response I was expecting but thank you for stating the obvious. I guess I’ll wait till winter to come back and try it again.

Stopped in here for lunch on our first day in Phoenix. Ice cold Corona’s at $ 4 a pop. Nice. A bowl of fresh and warm nacho chips with two types of salsa was served with the menus. Nice. My other half had the shrimp cocktail. She said she liked it. Nice. I had the shrimp with a butter/lemon sauce that came with a salad, rice and beans, and a flour tortilla. It tasted great, but they lose a star because they did not deshell any of the shrimp. Not nice…
