My son is purchasing a Mustang and my husband and I insisted the cars be inspected prior to sealing the deal. We met the seller at Sun Devil on Ray Rd and paid $ 41 for an inspection. The inspection was timely, thorough, and well worth the money spent. Dustin and his team were awesome! They provided a detailed list of needed repairs and explained each. I’m not well versed with cars and the engine details so I really appreciate having these experts on our side. We will be picking up the car this weekend once all the noted repairs are taken care of. A sincere thank you to Dustin and to all of the talented mechanics at Sun Devil Auto!

I am graciously giving one star because that is as low as I can go to begin my review… And let me also say that there was one individual who I truly felt was very committed to helping me and his name was Chris Knight… So thank you to Chris for all the extra effort and the interest in figuring out the problem with my vehicle.
In May of 2015 I took my jeep to the sun devil auto on ray rd just west of the I-​10 … I had already purchased a clutch kit and just needed someone to install it. Against the policy of the company RON, the manager at that time, allowed me to bring my parts and do the work for me. The price was decent for the labor and I agreed to have them do it for me …
This ends up being a year long experience of my jeep being in and out of sun devil for multiple causes. I will say that at first I was very impressed by some of the concern and attention to my jeep to find the problem. Everyone I knew was bashing sun devil for all the problems I seemed to be having but I stuck by them because they did keep taking my jeep in and seemed to really be interested in finding the problem with it. They were also renting me a vehicle because they felt responsible for the problems… I did appreciate this part of the customer service. However, they were not able to diagnose the true problem until nearly a year later … Which was the rear differential making noise due to worn out bearings. Which I chose to take to another shop for repair because of multiple reasons which I will discuss next.
Dave Godinez… The current manager after Ron was fired, helped me through some of these issues and in the beginning seemed very concerned about the service his shop was providing and about my satisfaction. After the first 5 – 6 times I returned to the shop for different complaints I could tell that there was a bit of frustration which led to the FIRST TIME Dave Godinez raised his voice at me. When this happened I asked for the name and number of his manager which he and the other manager in the room named Dustin reluctantly gave me. Dave calmed down and we were able to get the business done for that day.
The second time Dave Godinez raised his voice at me was a bit more of a show. It began outside the shop as we were about the get my driveshaft out of the trunk of my rental car and Dave LIED right to my face about a decision he made on my behalf WITHOUT CONSULTING me first. When I disagreed and reminded him how the story REALLY happened Dave through this arms up in the air and began screaming at the top of his lungs right at my face. That’s right … SCREAMING AND CUSSING in my face. That went on for a few moments outside … Definitely long enough to draw a crowd from all the mechanics working at sun devil that day, as well as, the mechanics and customers from the neighboring brake shop. He was yelling at me to get my Jeep and get the F@&$ out of there … Which was impossible because of it being in pieces and up in the air on a lift… Then he ran into the office and slammed the door behind him. At this point I am past aggravated and follow him into the office. We yell back and forth at each other for a few moments … I keep calling him a LIAR which he is … And then there were threats of the police and he even gave me a countdown from 3 to 1 as if he were talking to a child…
Through all of this they did put a new clutch in that I am satisfied with … A semi-​new flywheel that was new when I took it there but re-​surfaced after one days use WITHOUT MY PERMISSION and the cause of the second screaming match… It took nearly 6 months to diagnose the rear differential problem… They broke my exhaust manifold … And I have returned three different times for bolts falling out of the exhaust manifold after… They broke my handle that was on my rollbar to assist in getting into the jeep (drivers side)… They broke the knock sensor plug under the jeep and the shifter boot /​interior ring that holds it to the floorboard in the jeep, which they tried to glue back together and return to me without mention… only to be found when an engine light came on less than 5 miles away from their shop and I returned yet again… My exhaust tip had fallen off when I returned and was laying under the jeep…
I had the pleasure of speaking with the Regional/​general manager named Chris Doster who is definitely a company man … Defending and all but dismissing the fact that the manager of this particular shop screamed at my face and also that after a year of in and out my jeep had finally been inspected and gone over by a mechanic with 27 years experience… THANK YOU very much Chris Doster … Don’t you think you should have had a qualified mechanic take a look A LONG TIME BACK … 2 employees fired, a manager that screams at you, and corporate BS… GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Little frustrated. Went in on Monday to see about an oil change, was advised $ 17.99 and made appointment for Thursday morning. Said it would take about an hour.
Thursday morning I was given a price of roughly $ 41.99 I believe. It was in the low forties. The price difference was because they said my vehicle required a different oil type, full synthetic. Ok, whatever.
When I pick up the car an hour later, it was $ 51.xx. Even after my $ 5 Unilocal coupon the price was still higher than the forty something I was quoted earlier.
The initial quote didn’t include all the fees.
I feel if you’re going to give a price, give the out the door total. Don’t low ball it to close a sale and then add additional costs when the service is complete.
I think next time I’ll run the vehicle across the freeway to the dealer.

Great job on my oil change! I dropped off the car unannounced and they were able to get me in the same day. When the car was done they did not try to hard up-​sell me on anything else, did not overcharge for the oil change, and I even got a $ 5 discount when I checked in. Great experience and I will definitely be back again

I had my oil changed at Right Honda. Scott in service showed me an inspection sheet showing my brakes needed replacement. Specifically 2 mm on front pads and 3 on rear He told me I badly needed replacement. I said I’d wait. I checked prices and Sun Devil was over $ 100 cheaper so I scheduled brake service. Today they got my car on the rack and then told me that my brakes were fine and did not need replacement. They took me back into the shop and showed me the brake pads on car. I appreciate that they were honest. I was prepared to leave the car and have four brakes replaced. I will now have my cars serviced at Sun Devil on Bell and Right Honda won’t see me again.

Been doing a lot of work on a cheap beater and calling around to various shops to see who’s the least expensive for each repair. Took the car into this location for some work and they had the car finished when promised for the price they promised. They also didn’t try to upsell on anything and were honest about which repairs were important and what could be blown off for awhile. Very happy with the work they’ve done so far.

Sun Devil Auto destroyed the engine on my truck!!! Did not listen to the chief complaint and I was charged for work I did not receive! Sent faxes, emails and now a call from a very rude lying man! We are not responsible for your truck! Paid for an oil change, valve cover gaskets and other items! When I took my truck in, I said oil change, tire rotation, rear brakes and there is a knocking in the engine. Sun Devil did 1700.00 worth of work, supposedly, yet the oil was not changed and was a quart low. It was not low when I took the truck in!!! I call BS! Enjoy your review! Broken lug nuts, and torn apart dashboards as well!!! Feel free to email me! I will gladly tell you about it!!!

Always have great experiences at Sun Devil in Ahwatukee. Today was just another example of great customer service. I couldn’t get my emissions test done because my computer readout was loose. Took it to Sun a Devil when they were closing and the store manager helped me free of charge. I trust their opinions and appreciate their help whether they charge me or not. Great place!

Was driving through and stopped nearby to eat. A horendous sound started coming from front right hub… assumed it was a rock against the rotor.
Guys got me in and put up on jack, found the rock and I was on my way in 20 minutes. No charge, very friendly and helpful.

Horrible, horrible! Took them 4 tries & 2 days to fix my car right. I had to keep going back again & again to make them fix my car right. I don’t live in Phx to I ended up having to pay for 2 Nites in a hotel. Don’t trust them

The mechanics and staff at Sun Devil Auto did good.
My 2002 Saturn has been a great car, but this year would not pass the emissions test. Local mechanic said it could not be fixed — low compression in all cylinders with 50% compression in two cylinders. They gave me an estimate of $ 3,000 for a rebuilt engine and wished me luck buying a new car.
I asked Sun Devil Auto for a second opinion. Diagnosis was the same, low compression. But their attitude was «We have the technology! We can make it better than before!» 2000 to 2003 was the pinnacle of Saturn quality. The manager suggested since those engines were so good, a low mileage used engine was a viable option. He said a tested and inspected used motor with 80,000 miles and one year warranty was available.
He also suggested depending on the last time I had the clutch rebuilt, it would be a good time for a clutch service. The clutch was original with no service ever done. I snapped a picture of the odometer when I dropped off the car for surgery — 413,116 miles.
Estimate to swap the motor and rebuild the clutch was $ 2,700. Getting into the service, also found the water pump and power steering pump needed to be replaced. They did that for no added charge. Replaced all connecting hoses and replaced O rings in the AC system.
After driving for a day, heard a whining noise that was new. Turned out to be the idler pulley. The used one from my old engine was working and they offered to swap it for the one that came on the used engine. I opted to have a new one installed which they did for the part cost only. Final cost before the idler pulley was a few dollars below the estimate.
The job took three days. Thanks guys for saving my «classic» Saturn. Ya’ll did good.
Update: They asked me to bring my car back at 500 and 1,000 miles. First checkup they decided to clean the EGR valve. Second check found no problems. No additional charges. Thanks for looking out for me. Good job!

Great price on a battery. Better warranty and cost less than one I bought from orielys a week ago for my wife’s car

Great service at a great price. I will visit this place for any service they offer. They also offer free wife for their guests. I went there because my car requires full synthetic oil (I have a Toyota Corolla) and they offered an oil change at the best rate I could find in the area I live in.

I like this place. I take my car in, they fix it quickly and honestly, and they charge a fair price. What’s not to like about a mechanic you can trust?

Normally I stick to the big names auto service locations out of fear of poor service but Sun Devil was Very fast, efficient and professional. Even fit me in when they were busy. Communicative on things that would increase my estimate in price and when they didn’t have a part in stock they ordered it and had it here within 15minutes.

I had phenomenal service from Sun Devil Auto this week. I usually take my car into the dealership for a variety of reasons but Sun Devil restored my faith in 3^rd party auto service. Thank you!

I wanted to try a new place so I came in for a standard oil change in the morning. I read the reviews and hoped for a swift and quick turnaround. I got that. That’s why the 3 stars. However, I did not like the consistent push to get more work done on my car. I politely said no and the conversation should’ve ended there. As long as my car is ready to go, I’m happy. Not to mention, I can get the same work done much cheaper than the estimate provided. Thanks, but no thanks.

I really like this place. The guys in the office are really friendly and the guys in the shop do their job quickly and efficiently. I went there yesterday and my boyfriend took his car across the parking lot at the same time. My service was completed before his and cost less than his for the same exact service. Needless to say, I won the bet.
