History
Established in 2005.
The idea for the tea shop was born in the Spring of 2004 on a
two hour hike that lasted six hours while we were a bit lost in
the Maverick Mountains south of Prescott, Arizona with our black
lab Hagrid. Even with a GPS, a simple wrong turn on a jeep trail
led us on an arduous path up and down a series of ridge lines.
During the hike Kerstin hashed out her concept for the stores.
Bret did the mental math on what it would take to get up and
going and we both debated the various aspects of the store.
We finally ended up back in a small café where we hashed out an
approach over dinner. We began incrementally building the
business model and visited tea rooms and retail establishments
in Germany, Austria, China and Japan for inspiration. The first
store opened on January 7, 2006 in Phoenix, Arizona.
