The flavor and amount of food is unparalleled to any Mexican food place out there. I guess that’s it… it’s not just Mexican, it’s NEW Mexican cuisine; It’s wonderful! Great atmosphere and they have drink and appetizer specials after 9pm. I’ve visited about 5 to 7 times(mostly dinner, a few late nights, and once for brunch) and each time, the food is outstanding. Some dishes are spicy. It can be pricey but it’s so worth it, plus the portions are huge. You will not be disappointed, there’s a reason people drive from all over the valley to come here. Now, EAT!

Loved this place so much, I wanted to stay for hours. Felt just like home. It’s a very cozy restaurant, yet fancy and I love that. The waiter was very friendly. The food thou, it’s delicious! Can’t remember what I ordered but I’m pretty sure I will be ordering the same when I go back.

Have lived in the valley for three years and this is hands down my favorite restaurant. Have never had a bad meal here. My two favorites are the Carne Adovada and the New Mexican Platter. The New Mexican Platter is not for the faint of heart and should be attempted only on an open stomach. Great atmosphere, great vibe, can’t recommend highly enough.

The food is nothing short of spectacular! Must try the carne adovada! Go hungry. Portions are enormous. Adam is a wonderful bartender and always takes good care of us when we come in.

We’re in town from Los Angeles and found this spot on BringFido. Once again, BringFido delivers! We were immediately greeted with a bowl of ice water for the pups and seated on the cool, shaded patio. Overhead fans keep the area in the 70’s in spite of triple-digit temperatures outside. The chips and salsa are a MUST(housemade warm chips and 3 amazing salsas). Very dog friendly(they have pork and chicken menu options for your pups at a reasonable price), and service and food were impeccable. I had the New Mexican platter with a sampling of dishes — cheese relleno(excellent — my favorite!), chicken burrito(moist and flavorful), bacon-wrapped shrimp, rice and beans and red and green chile sauces. The presentation was beautiful and the portions were enormous! Paired with a margarita, it was a very memorable meal. Service is warm and friendly here. They clearly care about your experience.

We have been in Phoenix for 23 years. We moved here from Tucson and haven’t found a great Mexican restaurant until now. Food is fresh and beautiful Tana was a very attentive waitress. She is great

I came here again with a previous co-worker for lunch. We were able to sit outside on a beautiful cool Thursday afternoon. The service was great and the place was very clean. We ordered the following: Chips and Salsa($ 3): it came with 3 different salsas. Pico De Gallo, Tomatillo, and Habanero(it was mild though). It was very good. The blue and yellow corn chips were warm, light and crispy. The salsas were great but I wished the Habanero had a stronger kick.
Blue Wedge Salad with Cajun Chicken($ 9): The chicken was great, it was moist, tender and very flavorful. However it had tortilla strips and black bean salsa, so it should have been called the«Tex-Mex Blue Wedge Salad with Chicken». It didn’t come with Blue Cheese Crumbles only blue cheese dressing with very little blue cheese crumbles. Cuban Sandwich($ 9): last time I had a Cuban sandwich was at Porto’s in Burbank, CA. Porto’s Cuban sandwich had very thinly sliced ham, pork, Swiss cheese in a delicious flatten sandwich. However, the Cuban Sandwich had ½ inch thick ham, roast pork and a green sauce and a Swiss cheese(see picture). They should have renamed this the«Thick Cut Cuban Sandwich». My visit was good, but I will definitely try another restaurant when I’m in Phoenix, AZ again.

Great atmosphere, friendly service, but the food was just okay for me– some dishes were definitely better than others. I ordered the sriracha chicken and my bf ordered the porckhop. I didnt think the chicken was very good at all, i much preferred his pork chop– the flavors and texture had way more depth. On the bright side, drinks were strong and the waitress came around a lot.

My friend and I went in for brunch because it was recommended by a few friends and… wow! We both loved it! 5.00 mimosas and bloody Mary’s?! So good. Nothing about Richardsons was lacking. The service was great, the prices are fair for the quality of food and the atmosphere is awesome! Love the copper and dim lighting. Sunday brunch at Richardsons is my new go-to. Also, the outside bar is a nice touch and the bartenders are always easy going and creative enough to make you speciality drinks. –I only say this because I am allergic to syrups, but they always seem to substitute the syrups without sacrificing the flavor so I am able to enjoy it! Definitely get patio seating and ask for Max or Adam !!! — best service from those two.

I searched Unilocal and found that this place had pretty good reviews for New Mexico style food(note it’s not«standard» Mexican food or Tex Mex) I don’t get any NM food in California so when I visited Phoenix yesterday and today, I jumped at the chance to get even a temporary fill. I had the huevos rancheros(Christmas style– Red and green chili) with potatoes and beans and a tortilla. The portions were big and I left content! The food was tasty and is making me miss New Mexico even more. The service was excellent. The place has a cool décor too. If I’m back in PHX, I’ll definitely stop here! By the way, they said the name of the restaurant isn’t related to the family of Bill Richardson… Former NM governor.

During a short trip to Phoenix, Richardson’s got on the list of must go to restaurants. The reservation was made and the pictures of platings had been viewed several times over… Needless to say we were excited to go. On first impression the place and atmosphere is extraordinary, the dim lighting made us all look really good and the waitress was one of those that didn’t need to wright your order down. This is the reason that I didn’t give less stars. The food was not so good. I listened to a radio broadcast recently where Steve Wells(a famous food critic from the NYT) talked about how Instagram and the Internet had changed the way chefs think about presentation rather then actual flavor profiles. The dish I had was a perfect example of this. I ordered a steak — can’t remember the name of the actual dish but I looked amazing. My mouth actually started salivating when food came mainly because I had saved myself all day for this moment. And then… I took a bite. Nothing tasted as good as it looked. The steak was chewy and l was simply dissatisfied. If your thinking about visiting this restaurant I encourage you to go. I’m better for having gone once in my life then never having gone at all. It may be that southwestern cuisine doesn’t move me, however, the visit and atmosphere is worth a peek.

Okay, this is not easy to post because I really don’t want this place to get even more crowded. However, this is my «Cheers,» but with amazing food(I never had the impression that Cheers had any good food). While it goes without saying that the wine pours are generous(I am talking happy hour) the menu selections, food, is probably the best in Phoenix. My local friends agree. I ordered the scallops tonight, but declined the rice and beans and opted for veggies, which were to die for. If you like ribs, that is also an excellent choice, with the dirty rice. Basically, their New Mexican sauces are fantastic and add extra flavor to ANY dish. I have already mentioned in previous reviews that they have the best Chili Relleno’s in town. Their Hatch Chilis Rock. Lastly, I love the staff… you know who you are… Dale, Adam, Linda, etc. Thank you for taking such great care of me and all my friends and husband.

Richardson’s is a true classic in the Valley! It has been here forever! I have been dining here since I was a young girl(…it is one of my dad’s favorites) and have ALWAYS loved their delicious house salad! Last night, I told my boyfriend that I hadn’t been in years and wanted to check it out again on our date night! Not much has changed, it is still the same dark and cozy atmosphere! And yup, the salad was just as delicious! This time I ordered it with beef tenderloin and the meat was marinated and cooked to perfection! We also split the queso dip with chorizo as an appetizer and it was fantastic. The house margarita was not the best marg that i’ve ever had but it did the trick. You should also know that it IS a little pricey. I was actually pretty shocked by some of the entrée prices but if you stick with the basic meals(enchiladas, burgers, etc.), you can order a plate under $ 25. I’m sure we’ll be back with family again soon!

Service was fine. Place is decent. Here is my issue. And Hey, Richardson’s I reached out to you via email first to see if you would respond and make good but I never heard anything back. So if this cost you guests so be it. Ordered the Renello Platter, lots of food. Not complaining about the taste or the amount. But for the price this can’t happen. The platter of food is enormous, so I got a take home container. The next day for lunch I went to eat the leftovers. I took a bite and got pierced in the roof of my mouth with a bone. Wasn’t small. I’m a guy that takes big bites, so this bone wasn’t something I noticed. It was sharp and over 2 inches. I took pics and complained. Nothing was done. I email management, nothing. I called, no call back. For a place that charges what they do… Get bones out of your meat. Disgusting. Not only did I lose my appetite but I got a cut in my mouth. Beware if you eat there for the bones in your chicken. I won’t be going back. And I hope you all reconsider before spending 20 – 50.00 a plate here.

After reading reviews on Richardson’s, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I grew up on New Mexican fare and it is not an easy cuisine to perfect. I was also a little reluctant toward the menu as their vegetarian options seemed few and far between. We visited the restaurant with another couple who are avid carnivores. We were pleasantly surprised to find something on the menu for everyone. My husband and I split the chili rellenos and cheese enchiladas. The beans are vegetarian but the rice is not so in lieu of it, we were able to get a green chili potato(ridiculously tasty). The food was delightfully packed with heat — the kind of heat that’s cured by a bowl of ice cream or more of what caused the burn in the first place. It IS spicy so be sure to heed the warning on their menu. I dabbed my forehead with a napkin more than once. To me, there’s something about a server who knows her stuff. Our server was fantastic. We wanted for nothing during our entire experience and she knew exactly what was safe for us to eat as vegetarians. I don’t agree with others who think this place is overpriced. Our party of four had the same number of entrees, a bottle of wine, and two cocktails for $ 120. And yes, they only have valet parking. Welcome to any good restaurant in Phoenix. Can’t wait to visit again and get my sweat on!

This is one of my favorite restaurants to visit when I’m craving some good and fresh tasting New Mexican specialties. The flavors are out of this world and it will make your mouth dance with joy. Been to their other restaurants many times and always enjoy coming back. First got to experience this kind of treat at their older restaurant that mysteriously caught on fire. This place is a favorite of my boss and he usually pays. Nice! Love the Chimayo Chicken and on other visits order one of the Fish Specials written on the board. The appetizers are delicious and you can easily get filled up on them quickly. Really enjoyed the Green Chili French Onion Soup on my last visit. It had the perfect amount of heat for me and made me break a sweat. Service can be somewhat mediocre at times. Make sure to also bring a flashlight or have your smart phone app ready to go. It is ridiculously dark in there and can create a bit of a problem. You can always choose to eat outside at the bar or at one of the smaller tables. This is not a cheap and inexpensive dining experience. Then again it is not super duper crazy expensive. They do have valet parking at certain times so don’t be surprised. Give them a shout out and get ready for some yummy flavors. You won’t be disappointed. TOUCHDOWNINMYMOUTH! 4.5STARS
