We understand that each wedding is unique, and we cater accordingly. We work with dresses of any size, shape, and brand, whether it’s designer or off the rack, all at an affordable price. We also accommodate for times, and are happy to assist you in your last minute, emergency situations that require alterations and changes.

We are a home-​base studio located in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona at 2502 E. Glenrosa Ave. We also offer alterations and designs for those who are out of state, and can ship items nationally.

Jenny Barnes has over 25 years of experience working with a variety of dresses for special occasions, and is dedicated to creating beautiful designs that are special to each customer.

She has worked with a number of local and national boutiques doing alterations and designs, including Neiman Marcus, Dillards, Macys, Brides by Demetrios, I do I do! Bridal, The Bridal Boutique and Strut Bridal.

Jenny Barnes has extensive experience in high-​end couture alterations and personalized design, including re-​designing gowns to match different body types, maternity, and special themes. Jenny works with high-​end designer gowns including Vera Wang, Pronovias, Demetrios, Alfred Angelo, Maggie Sottero and more. Even with last minute changes and emergency adjustments, Jenny Barnes is able to accommodate your unique situation to ensure you are happy with your dream wedding gown.

I cannot say enough great things about Jenny! I don’t post much in reviews, but she surely deserves it. I needed 4 inches taken off my dress that had a lot of beading around the waist. She did such an outstanding job, you can’t even tell the dress had work done. I am so picky and could not believe how great she is at her craft. Her eye for perfection and wanting to satisfy every customer’s needs and make them smile is so rare! She is a sweet and kind soul that does fantastic work! Jenny was great! I got married October 2015. I had a dress with a low plunge in the front that needed to be covered. She created a beautiful underlay that looked like it was made with the dress! It turned out amazing and was very well priced. I even recommended her to a friend who is getting married in January.

Having just gotten engaged March 23rd 2015 and decided to get married in Italy that May, I was definitely under the gun to find a dress, let alone get it altered.
After finding my dress in what was nothing short of a miracle, I hurriedly scoured Unilocal for alterations. By the time I found my dress it was already the first week of April; my fiancé and I leave for Italy on May 14th, so time is of the essence. After finding Jenny and reading her glowing reviews, I was confident that she would be able to help me!
I made an appointment right after I had received my dress, which was the second week of April. I should have gone to play the lottery afterward because it turned out I would be her last job before she went on vacation for two weeks! Talk about lucky.
Getting fitted itself, was a pleasure and she was so friendly and professional. She did way more to my dress than I thought was originally needed (of course, I lack seamstress skills), but boy, am I glad she is amazing at her job. She pinned and tucked and lifted everywhere. She added a corset and a hook/​latch strap to keep the dress tight around my waist. Shortening the dress was a must, being 5’3″, I was practically drowning in the dress as it was. Along the way, she was informing me of what she was doing and why; she’d have to open up the dress to add the corset boning and refold/​tuck the tulle overlay.
Jenny made this somewhat time-​crunched and stressful time a joy and we had so much fun. She gave me a done-​by date of April 16th, and I was completely amazed and impressed by how she completely redid the dress and «fixed» it so it looked like it was custom made for me. Trying it on was night and day to how it was before; she made it look like a million bucks.
Thankfully this dress traveled incredibly well, and held up through 2 flights one-​way spanning 20 hours and spending 12 days on a cruise ship. We got married in Venice on May 29th, and the dress didn’t need any steaming whatsoever. It looked as fresh as it did when I picked it up from Jenny. I just want to thank Jenny from the bottom of my heart for doing one heck of a job and making the whole experience thoroughly enjoyable. The quality speaks for itself and I will absolutely be using her again for any future alterations.

Jenny is awesome!
1. She worked well with my schedule and had appointments available on Saturdays.
2. My dress had many layers and lots of fabric detail, she was able to take in the top and hem the bottom and make it look like it was made that way.
3. I brought a gemstone belt for my dress and she very carefully added it by sewing it on, you could not see a single stitch.
4. She added three bustles to the train of my dress. They were very well hidden while down and when it was up it looked like it was made to be that way!
5. She also did a great job taking in the top of my mother-​in-​laws dress and she added lingerie straps so her bra straps would not peak out.
6. If you have a dress that needs work take to Jenny. She pays attention to what you want and does a great job on the alterations!

I found Jenny through Unilocal!after I purchased a gorgeous, vintage dress from Almond Tree Boutique that was a size too small and needed a lot of work in order to fit my curves. I met with Jenny and she immediately took my measurements, listened to what my needs were and informed me that she would have to completely open up the dress to see how much extra material she had to work with. Jenny put in a corset for me, took in the bust, let out the hips and rear and took in the waist. It was a total of 4 or 5 visits until it fit like a glove but she did not stop until she had it perfect. I received so many compliments on my wedding day and Jenny had a lot to do with that! I would highly recommend her!

Jenny is amazing, and a true miracle worker. I ended up gaining weight and was terrified that I wouldn’t be able to wear my dress, but Jenny worked her magic and added some material at the top (the exact lace), and she did it perfectly! She is very meticulous with all of the details, and she made sure everything fit just right. Because my dress was so heavy she added six bustles, and she even numbered them so my bridesmaids would know what to tie where.
Jenny does fabulous work, and is genuinely one of the nicest people you could ever work with. I highly recommend that any bride go see her! Thanks again Jenny for all of your hard work.

I am really upset about my experience with Jenny. She is very, very nice and I was confident that my dress was going to be in great hands given the amazing Unilocal reviews. We originally met in December (my wedding being 5 months away) with the hopes of having a few appointments and last fitting just a week before the wedding. During my second fitting in January, she told me that I would have to pick up my dress in Feberuary because she was going to be on vacation in April and May.
I understand that vacations are great but she is going on vacation during prime wedding season! If I would have known right off the bat that I would have had to pick up my dress in February from her, I would have immediately gone somewhere else. I wasn’t allowed to lose weight or anything (which, who doesn’t want to lose weight before their wedding??) because that would change the way the dress fits me.
My dress didn’t need much done. Just a hem, minor take in at the bust, a bustle, dry cleaning and the fastening of a few loose beads because I bought my dress used. That was almost $ 500 total.
During my final fitting, I had some concerns and all she said was that it was «normal.»
I am not by any means a picky or hard to please person so when I have a concern, it’s generally not about something that is «normal.»
When I tried on my dress just last week (2 weeks before the wedding) to make sure it still fit good, I noticed that the beads were still loose and my MOH and I could not figure out how to bustle it. When we did it the way she told us, it looked so sloppy and the dress was dragging on the ground more than it should have. We even tried our own ways and it just was not working.
Because Jenny was on vacation, I had to go to someone else to figure out how to bustle it (10 days before the wedding!!!) When I went there, she told me that the bustle Jenny had done was done very poorly and that I would need to have it redone a different, more simple way. She also told me that the take in at the bust was done poorly because the ribbing was too visible (something that I was concerned about but was told was «normal») and I’ll mention again that there were still several beads loose. I told her that I paid almost $ 500 to get my alterations done elsewhere and she said that it was way overpriced.
I just had to pay another $ 100 with this new shop to fix the bust so the ribbing doesn’t show, the beads are fastened, and there is a more simple bustle technique. It would have been $ 50 but I was charged another $ 50 for a rush alteration which I am completely understanding of. If you are looking for a wonderful alterations experience… go to Sukie’s Bridal!
I genuinely like Jenny and she is really sweet but I feel like I just wasted a huge chunk of money.
I hope that everyone has a better experience.

I went to Jenny’s alterations studio a couple of months ago for my consultation. She squeezed me in last minute and was a sweetheart from the start!
I brought in my all lace dress with off the shoulder straps… I needed the length cut (I’m 5 feet tall), straps removed and crinoline added to the bottom (the dress is mermaid style). She did an AMAZING job! I knew that she was good but she blew me away! She finished the dress in about 6 weeks! She was so attentive to detail and accommodating! I would recommend her to anyone a million times over!

This review is long overdue… My wedding was June 28, 2014! After an amazing wedding, there was no honeymoon period! I went straight back to school and work full time! It’s still extremely important to me to tell everyone what an amazing job Jenny did on my dress and what a sweetheart she is to work with! I cant say enough good things about Jenny! I trusted her right away. My wedding dress was the Vera Wang Ethel and was absolutely stunning. I loved my dress from day 1, but I wanted a few tweaks done to it. I wanted a sweetheart neckline with cups added so I could go without a bra underneath my dress, and also a rhinestone belt added to the waistline. There were several other modifications that needed to be made as well that were very tedious and time consuming, but Jenny was up to the task. She explained how she takes her time with each job because you cant rush this type of process. She says she likes to stay true to the designer’s work, so when making modifications to my Vera Wang she was very careful to do things perfectly. As a bride, I know you can all appreciate that!
My dress was very form fitting and the zipper was very snug. Towards the end of the process it was obvious that we were having trouble getting my zipper zipped; partly because of how tight the dress was fitting and partly because of the construction of the zipper/​dress. Jenny said no problem and worked her magic, which resulted in a more comfortable, perfectly fitting dress! The dress was perfection and I got sooooo many compliments on it. It looked good on me before, but after Jenny worked her magic it was out of this world gorgeous! I cant thank Jenny enough! She’s a true professional with a gift! And such a nice person

Her specific questions and attentive listening regarding the bride’s vision of a perfect fit, made the experience effortless. Jenny is AMAZING! She works magic on your dress… I had to take in bust, waist, hips, hem a few inches and add a bustle… She seriously did it all in 4 ½ weeks… I had issues finding a seamstress that I was happy with before finding Jenny… so mine ended up being rushed… but she did a completely fabulous job. My appointments with her were fun and relaxed, even with the time crunch!
She is a sweet lady with tons of experience under her belt. She has turned the side of her house into her little business :)
I would recommend her to any and everybody. Her prices are reasonable and fairly average. She’s worth the money :)

Jenny transformed by ugly random wedding dress find at Nordstrom Rack into this amazing vintage wedding dress that I wish I could wear over and over. She listened to all of my requests and built me a one if a kind dress that I will cherish forever. So many compliments. You are truly so talented Jenny!

I purchased the sample of my dress off the rack. I was a bit apprehensive on the buy because the sample size was a 10 and I’m a street size zero. I knew any alterations would be a major overhaul to get it to fit my petite frame. I was not going to skimp on picking the right vendor to do this job.
Jenny was so sweet and a pleasure to work with from the get go in the wedding dress alteration experience. I found her reviews on Unilocal and they were just all glowing about her excellent work.
She was able to get the dress to fit me beautifully. The dress was silk organza, with tons of under layers to create a mermaid shape. She worked with all the elements like a pro and maintained the silhouette of the original design that I fell in love with.
She is also very flexible with meeting times for fittings, which is incredibly helpful for any bride who has a particularly busy schedule.
