Was pretty disappointed with this place. Pros are the ambience and restaurant interior. Very clean and fun. However, from a food quality and quantity standpoint, it was disappointing. Ordered a roll for $ 12, which came with the stingiest portion of salmon ever(see attached pics below). It was so thin it was translucent and you could see the rice below. The ginger was also dried and old, definitely not fresh. Did order a hamachi appetizer for $ 7, which was tasty but overpriced(came with 4 tiny slices). Will not be coming back.

I’ve been in here for lunch a few times, and each time I’ve gone, it hasn’t been very busy at all. Pretty much it’s just been myself and my coworkers. BUT the sushi has been really great every time we go. Really like this place.

Unreasonably priced and not impressive tasting ATALL. It cost us over $ 50 for two not-starving young woman with no drinks ordered. Also the weird metal chairs are extremely uncomfortable.

I really like this place. I am pretty picky with my sushi and wasn’t sure what I would get here. I could have given it 5 stars and not totally sure why I didn’t. I guess it needs to blow my mind to be 5 stars. I had a spicy yellowtail hand roll. I usually can tell what kind of place it’s going to be by eating that. The seaweed was crisp. Yellowtail fresh and at the right temperature. Unagi was delicious and the spicy tuna roll was good. I would definaty come back and explore the menu more. Very reasonably priced as far as I’m concerned.

Chill quiet atmosphere. Parking: Street parking and meters around. Atmosphere: Depends on the time. However, the time we went, it was dark and chill. There were only about six customers at the time(late Tues night), but I went during a busy happy hour another time. Service: The wait staff are attentive but not annoying at all. I liked them! Food: We ordered: Miso soup, edamame, cucumber salad, and my friend ordered salmon sushi. The miso soup was perfect, and just the right size. I had never tried the cucumber salad, but it was crisp, slightly spicy and delicious. My friend convinced me to try sushi again(I ate too much sushi in 2007 and have not recovered yet). I did try it and surprised myself by enjoying it. Drinks: We had hot sake and plum wine. Delish! Cost: Somehow, with all this food and drinks, our bill was only around $ 33! Way to go!

For me it really was the atmosphere that really made it. The eclectic yet modern interior gave it an edge and made it a very unique experience that was memorable. It stands out from the rest with its pseudo sci-fi lighting combined with its traditional Asian imagery. The sushi itself was relatively expensive so definitely only come here during happy hour. The quality of the sushi was good. The roll I ordered didn’t have that flavorful punch, maybe I’ll have to come back and give it a second chance.

I have been coming to Moira for sushi for about 5 years now. This past weekend was horrible. My GF and I got 2 sushi rolls, 2 saki bombers and a beef thing you cook on a rock. The beef was mediocre at best, she could barely finish it. We get the bill, and it’s $ 61… I about fell off my chair. Inquiring why our bill was so high, the manager explained that since we got«cold saki» it was an extra $ 5(or some similarly outrageous high amount for keeping something cool) so your typically saki bomber at Moira would be around $ 8 – 9, is now $ 14. Did she offer to take some off of our bill since we were so surprised? Nope. And I will never be returning again. Plenty of great sushi spots in this town without the overpriced drinks and mystery charges.

Really nice happy hour. Sadly, poorly attended/known at this point. So do your part, Unilocalers, give them a chance! Nice service, comfortable dark atmosphere, sake bombers and rolls and good times? What’s not to like? Hang in there, Moira, let’s rally!

Super trendy place and open late. I LOVE the chicken wings, so good. I crave them all the time. Service can be slow, and music is loud, but it’s fun for a night out.

It’s a trendy sushi bar, but the food is good. I have eaten here many times and have never felt disappointed. However, the sushi bar area is uncomfortable. We were seated at the low spot of the sushi bar my last visit, and the counter sat right at chest level. It was nearly impossible to comfortably eat that way. We moved to another area of the sushi bar at regular height– it was much better, but the chairs are heavy and made of metal– it was very hard scooting in and out– also the curve a little on the edges like a bowl– I was wearing a dress and it was challenging getting out of my seat and still staying lady-like. The look of the place is cool, but those chairs are not functional– nor is that short spot at the bar– terrible idea. Eat at a table and you will be ok.

Very decent Reverse Happy Hour for when you want sushi post First Friday or to get your Saturday night started out on the town. The music is a tad loud for my liking. Within walking distance to fabulous Roosevelt Row. And I always wonder about who lives above it… those places look way cool.

This place has pretty fresh sushi and an interesting cocktail and beer list, however the service is absolute shite. We did come in at 10 when closing time was 11, but when we noticed no one else in the restaurant and they were sweeping the floor, we offered to come back another time. The staff insisted we are welcome and proceeded to wait on us. We ordered quickly, and ate equally as fast but the guys working there continued to clean up around us(which is fine) and dim the lights. I felt like this was a signal to get out which — I get, but it wasn’t even 11(closing time) RUDE! The music was blaring and at first it was okay(Drum and Bass) but then it kept going with high pitched Skrillex style EDM and was killing the vibe. I guess I should have asked them to change it, but come on man. ..

Great meal but the waiter was so rude and unprofessional that I have to mark the score down. He was hitting on my date the entire evening — granted he knew get from the tanning booth that he used to work at — but professionalism carries an establishment because good sushi is finally evolving in the area. It was also my second time getting the fried noodle basket with shrimp — vastly different experience than the first time. It was not good — the shrimp tasted like dirt as if it wasn’t washed. Great sushi though. However, given the experience with waiter I will not repeat

I ordered the tiger roll and the piña san roll. Both were amazing but the tiger roll was my favorite! It was so different than I’ve had before and the coconut shrimp were delicious and hot! I would definitely come back here. Forgot to mention the piña San roll is huge(10 pieces). They were both for me, so I was very full!

After watching an Indie at the Film Bar, we wanted to find a place to pause for awhile and, lo and behold, Moira Sushi. Mind you, it was past 9PM on a Tuesday night. And I thought it was so awesome that it was still open for those of us who despise going home right after seeing a movie. The place is so chic, great ambiance, food and service. It was kinda dead given it was a week day night, but still happening in a quiet sort of way. We ordered various sorts of mouth flavoring bites. Everything was MWAH! Pick something, anything. You really can’t go wrong! It’s a good thing I was accompanied by sushi savvy people.

First, it was that shit-show of a night: First Friday. Where all of suburbia exclaims«Oh, we do have things going on in Phoenix!» Moira was slammed, servers filling and refilling water cups of those who are too cheap to buy drinks, but want to take advantage of Happy Hour. Still, the staff was smiling. They hustled and I had 3 people ask if we’d been helped. When we were seated our sever was jovial, made light of the situation and suggested we order most of our items at once so that we’d get everything promptly. Now, while it wasn’t the best sushi I’d ever had(it just wasn’t). I am telling you, unequivocally, it was the servers that made my night. At the end of our meal we were approached by another server who made sure we’d had an enjoyable experience. She was extremely sincere and reminded us to come by on Thursdays where the wine is half priced, and the joint is half-filled! :) I don’t know how ya’ll do it, but you’re fucking rockstars! Foodwise: Squid Salad: Generous portion Calamari: Delicious Avoid: White Blossom roll. I’ve had a baked scallop roll before. This one… tasted quite funky : /

Moira Sushi offers a wonderful happy hour in downtown Phoenix.(It runs until 7pm!) Hot sake is $ 2 with chilled for $ 5. The décor is upscale yet you aren’t paying ridiculous prices. Service is prompt with orders taken almost immediately and tables are cleared continually. The edamame is steamed perfectly and salted. I very much enjoyed the kani crunch.(A crab meat concoction with panko generously sprinkled on top.) I was envious when my neighbor called the server over for her spicy yellowtail. I had ordered the same earlier *but* not thought to ask for spicy mayo.(If you want spicy I recommend doing the same.) My version of the spicy yellowtail was just … yellowtail. Adorable place well suited for groups. Four tops can readily be combined. I can see this spot being perfect for an intimate date.

Sigh. I still haven’t found a place that tops my San Diego Restaurants! :( …but this place comes pretty close. I love the ambiance, very Vegas! Very new and hip and the lighting is pretty key here. This isn’t a place to take your grandparents or parents for a nice sushi dinner, but a group of girlfriends before going out… perfect scene! This place is a great stop if you live in the downtown area, since you don’t have to worry about parking. The rolls werent as jam packed with sushi as I am used to. but still had decent flavor. I ordered the sunshine roll which includes: spicy salmon, cucumber, topped w/fresh salmon & lemon slices. I just wish the slices of salmon were thicker. honestly, Pure in scottsdale/phoenix area is better. Sorry Dave. EXCEPT! The more sake bombs you take, the better your experience is! So drink lots of sake! hahah
