have owned several VW’s and i’m always weiry on people working on my VW’s so when i hurt my hand and i needed a new generator for my VW i took it to Karl’s. Denise the head mechanic fixed my bug with the least amount of cost and did the job right. After knowing Denise went above and beyond to find me a rebuilt generator instead of automatically charging me for a new generator like others would have like MONTZ oops did i just say that? LOL as you can tell i’m not a MONTZ fan or maybe i’m not cool enough for MONTZ better yet maybe i’m not rich enough to be a valued client at MONTZ! Okay enough with that so to say that my first experience with Karls was a positive one and for me to say that i promise you means something! Denise is a type of mechanic i would let work on my Bug any day and actually as a VW owner i’m lucky to come across someone like Denise! Thank you Denise for your honesty and saving me $$ when you did not have too! And if it means anything i’ve been associating with VW mechanics since MONTZ was on the corner of Scottsdale Rd and Thomas man those were the days (80′ — early 90’s) when you found mechanics like Denise at Karl’s it was all about the love of VW’s! Thanks Denise for letting me have faith in mechanics again!

I made the mistake of going elsewhere after losing their mechanics. Let’s just say that that place sucked. I am back. Dennis, their current shop manager seems to be straight up. I think ill stick with Karl’s from now on.

Word is that they lost all their employees who’ve worked there the past 20 years just this last month. Don’t know why but this was confirmed from two different sources, so I went elsewhere.

I have a 2006 Jetta TDI, and I’ve never stopped at Karl’s Custom because I thought they only worked on old Bugs. I always leave the dealership feeling ripped off, so today I decided to stop at Karl’s.
They just checked out my engine light, told me what the problem was, and reset it. For FREE! Who does anything for FREE in 2009? The service manager also quoted my next major maintenance for $ 400 LESS THAN the VW dealership on Camelback said it will cost.
Seriously. I will never go to the VW dealership for service again. The guys at Karl’s are friendly and helpful.

Avoid Camelback VW. Go to Karls. Paul has been working on Wifey’s 2K new Beetle for 7+ years
