I just met my new Endo, Dr. Deer. For many years, I have had a lot going on with diabetes and other serious endocrine system problems. I have also moved from one state to another and switched health ins. coverage several times. Therefore, unfortunately, I have seen about a dozen Endocrinologists. Dr. Deer is one that I recognize as «not a good doctor». I put that in quotes because I’m sure he is great for some people. However, my experience with Dr. Deer was not one that I could come home and say, «Wow,(s)he is a good doc that really knows what they are doing!». Endos like that are few and far between, but they do exist. A doctor I can trust is one that thinks outside the box. They keep up on new research and don’t stick rigidly to the numbers they learned in school. They know and consider greatly, the human factor. They have good bedside manners. They have listened to their patients over the years, and maybe found a large number of them who have a specific diagnosis complain of the same certain thing(s) that don’t fit with the description of the disease. So, they consider this and don’t just dismiss the patient with a «doctor knows best» attitude. They run the tests, prescribe the medications, and don’t give up trying. Although I don’t know for sure, because of my experience, I don’t have confidence that Dr. Deer is like that. One reason I can give is when I asked him if there are anymore thyroid tests other than TSH and T4, he said there is not. I know that’s a lie.
