I made a special Saturday morning drive to visit Harmon because, as I am sure you all know, the Phoenix Public Library Seed Library is located at this location — and there is no branch delivery option for seeds. The building itself is very nice, the modern block look seeming to belong more in CenPho than NOTS(«North Of The Seventeen» — is my hip acronym catching on?). The staff was friendly and helpful(I walked right by the seeds in route to approaching the librarian to ask where they were) and the facility was clean with adequate seating areas, for those who prefer to spend more time at the public library than myself. Easily accessible, nice staff, and ample parking — if you live in the area, I can’t see why you’d need your books scheduled for pick up anywhere else.

Harmon library is not closed, but it did move to a new location just across the street. It’s now at 1325 S 5th Ave. They built a brand new building and it looks great. There’s a small but solid collection of books, a great DVD collection that’s not as picked over as some of the busier branches. There’s even a really nice kids’ play area and a great teen center with a big selection of manga. Even better, it’s right next to a park with a playground. I highly reccomend visiting it if you are in South Phoenix. Like several Phoenix Public Library locations, it is closed on Sundays and Mondays, but it’s open from 11AM — 7PM Tuesdays-Thursdays and 9 – 5 on Fridays and Saturdays.
