I have been to see Dr Garreton a couple of times over the last year.
My most recent visit was for a preventative physical which is covered 100% by my insurance. While the physical went well; I had a lot of headaches over billing issues which required me to be on the phone with the insurance company MANY times for well over an hour in total.
I went to Lab Corp for my labs to be done for the physical, but was charged almost $ 50 when it was suppose to be $ 0. Apparently the Dr’s office did not communicate correctly with the lab so the labs were not coded as preventative. Again, after several calls this was fixed, and my cost on the labs ended up at $ 0 as it should be.
Then the actual physical got billed separately and it turns out Dr Garreton had an EKG done on me which is not considered preventative by my insurance company. Therefore the EKG was only covered at 70%. This is an issue I was not able to resolve as Cesar in billing told me I should have the knowledge of what’s covered at 100% and what is not. It would have been my responsibility to say no to the EKG.
Bottom line is that although I believe Dr Garreton is a fine doctor I am officially firing him as my Primary care physician. I will find another quality Doc and be better educated next time. Dr. Garreton has lost a patient forever over less than $ 10.
