DoubleTree Suites by Hilton – Phoenix

Stayed there only for several hours due to a delayed flight, but was happy with what I experienced.
The suites are spacious and affordable, very clean kitchen, almost new equipment, 2 flat screen tvs per suite.
The bed was super comfortable and the pillows were great too, not too hard and not too bouncy. I had a good several hours sleep before heading back to the airport with the complimentary shuttle.
They have a grill restaurant on site and my husband enjoyed a burger with fries there.
If you are a HH member, you will get mineral water and cookies for free! Nice welcome gift.
I did not have any time to use their amenities but the pool area looked neat and the general impression of the hotel was great.
The only complaint: the walls between the suites are super thin and I could hear my neighbors talking!

Stayed here last month with my husband and baby. The courtyard is really pretty and nicely maintained. They have a free shuttle from the airport that runs every half hour. Our room was nice with a separate bedroom and living room. All of the furniture was comfortable and there was plenty of space for the 3 of us. Overall a pleasant stay!

Great service. Breakfast no good for healthy eaters though. Needs updating.
Location to Sky Harbor very good. Free parking

Room was awesome, for the price you pay, the quality of the rooms are fantastic and you get complementary breakfast!
Will definitely attempt to stay here again.
Only downfall is that there is nothing worth going that is walking distance.

I like to write my reviews from a less critical POV. Is this a 5 star resort, probably not, but I’ll give it 5 stars for people who are on the fence worried about being surprised We had a lovely visit and you aren’t going to walk into a disaster here.

I usually prefer Hilton properties so that I don’t find myself staying in «surprises» like this little gem. Now I see this all the time in Unilocal reviews right? «I expected better from Hilton/​Doubletree blah blah blah» and I admit I’m guilty of that too.
This hotel is gross enough that it got me to ask the important questions, and what I now know is that any tired old hotel can do a few «upgrades» and hang up a Doubletree sign. In fact that’s precisely what a Doubletree is in the first place. There’s no standards and no new construction. Congrats on being the first DT to make me go out and learn this from Wikipedia.
In most cases a Doubletree property exceeds my expectations, I stay in some swank ass Doubletrees with great service and I have come to have high expectations. Most of the franchisees I’ve encountered put a lot of money and effort into an experience that makes you feel like three stars is an understatement.
So that sentiment is how I ended up in this dump, agreeing to pay $ 227 a night sight unseen. The owners of this hotel are making a lot of money off of the trust and confidence other operators have instilled in people loyal to the brand or HHonors.
Bottom line: Your expectations probably won’t be met here unless you’re naïve to the brand. And now I know not to associate the Doubletree brand with quality or comfort or service. It’s a crap shoot. The hotel could be anything. I contacted Hilton to let them know that this property singlehandedly instilled zero confidence in the Doubletree brand moving forward in unfamiliar cities. I will no longer have a favorable assumption based on the brand association alone.
The layout of the building sucks and you’ll hear everything at the pool that all the rooms are surrounding, some from adjacent rooms, and any conversation passing within 20 feet of your room. The first room I stayed in was fine but then I got moved to some room with an annoying ticking or knocking noise that I can’t place every 30 — 90 seconds.
It’s 4am, I can’t sleep in the new room and they’re supposedly sold out of other rooms. Not worth it for $ 200+. Doing a quick check though other people are booking it for $ 300 – 400. Good grief, not a chance in hell I would pay for a room this drab and dated for four hundred. I would have MUCH higher expectations for $ 400. There are nicer Doubletrees in and around Phoenix and my favorite is the one in Tempe.
The front desk claimed to be sold out when I found it necessary to extend a day or two waiting for a car part to continue along my way, maybe they simply prefer the current going rate over my business or they would prefer I leave or something, but the hhonors app said there are rooms and so does Orbitz. In fact the hhonors app offered to book me as many as three identical rooms (finally claiming to be sold out at four rooms) so I created a new reservation and «extended» that way. Zero for effort on their part, and if you get the same line from them I suggest you go verify what you’re being told.
Restaurant is fairly crappy on the orders I placed, I got some gloppy chicken burger slathered in avocado for lunch, it’s only edible if you scrape the crap off the top of it… and a greasy dry pizza for $ 20. I’ve never had disgusting food in a Doubletree either, but there you go. The room service person told me that it was an independent franchise.
The only silver lining is that when I checked out in the middle of the evening Donna reversed the evenings charges including the pizza which I had not complained about and was about to offer to pay for on check out.

LOVELY staff. Nice breakfast that won’t break the bank. But the hotel is a bit tired, and could use remodeling. Its big, and easy to get lost! But the staff is nice and helpful, so ask. (If you can find them!). And those cookies… :-)

I stayed here the night before I flew to Washington. The room was very clean and comfy. I loved the cookies we were given at check in. My mom and I went to the front and asked what food was good in the area. The guy who drives the shuttle recommended a Sushi place near by. Then he drove us there and we called for a return ride. The staff was very nice! I also love how squishy the pillows were.

This was a nice hotel. The lobby was nicely decorated. The room was spacious but could use some updating. The free cookie was a plus and the staff were, for the most part freindly. The pictures online make the hotel look a lot fancier than what it is.

The Doubletree is a comfortable, if dated and weirdly laid out, hotel located near the Phoenix airport. It is convenient to the light rail system as well as to the office I work out of when I visit. The hotel restaurant, Belevdere’s, is actually quite good and the front-​desk staff was friendly during check-​in and check-​out.
I have changed my original review because on further research I learned that the billing problem reported in the first review was not a problem at all. It was simply an anomaly caused by the way the hotel charged my credit card.

My family held a family reunion at this hotel in Oct 2014. If we plan another reunion in Phoenix, we will all be back at this hotel. It was affordable, clean, rooms were big, free breakfast was good, and service was great. Once again I’d like to thank Heather and Abbey and all those who helped us during our stay and made our time together one we look back on and smile.
Here are few things that stood out.
The hotel appearance–
While a bit outdated, the hotel is clean and well maintained. The pool, fountain, and courtyard give the hotel a nice, open, airy feel. Close proximity to the airport and free shuttle make it easy to get to.
The rooms —
All rooms are suites with a separate living room and spacious bedroom. The room was clean and comfortable and recently updated. Heating and air worked well too. I tend to get cold so I’m always looking for good heat. Housekeeping and room service was responsive and timely.
The service —
The service is wonderful. This is where the hotel really shined. It started with the greeting at check-​in and a delicious chocolate chip cookie (sometimes two). Off to the side there was cold, usually lemon infused water. There were moments during check-​in where there seemed to be too few people behind the counter and long waits but the hotel staff were friendly and acknowledged everyone in line. I made welcoming packages for each of the guests in our party and the hotel staff kept them behind the counter and distributed them for me as family members checked in. They were helpful and glad to do it. We had 30 people in 10 rooms staying at the hotel and everyone had a good experience.
I must also mention Heather Wilson and Abbey Berry. These ladies were wonderful in helping me to plan and arrange our reunion! They answered so many questions and helped me choose the right meeting room, make arrangements for a cake, DJ, decorations, food, photo spots, and all the rest. They were kind, responsive, and never made me feel less important because we had a small party of 50 people. They went out of their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable and our reunion dinner went off without a hitch! It’s worth hosting an event here just to be able to work with these two ladies.
The restaurant —
There’s a decent buffet breakfast for a free breakfast. There are hot items as well as cold and the menu is changed up each day. You’ll see eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, pastries, drinks and more. You don’t get omelets made to order but I believe additional items can be ordered. The food is good for lunch and dinner but not amazing.

As a Diamond Hilton member, this doubletree absolutely makes me feel great. Got a warm welcome from the front desk and help me did the early-​checkin, with a bag of snakes, water and the signature warm cookie. Bed was soft and the room was great. Recommended for the airport stay.

I’m normally a fan of this hotel because of their homey settings in EACH room unlike other hotels you have to pay for a special set up like that.
If you have kids:
My experience was the hotel staff scolding & yelling at my child (along with other guests kids) for being too loud swimming in the pool. This matter could have easily been solved if he would’ve talked to the parents, that’s why we sit out there, to supervise. If there’s a problem, come tell the only adults sitting out there and not yell at children.
A suggestion for management: Change your pool hours if you don’t want joyful kids playing at 11 o’clock at night. Also… the pool is in the middle of EVERY guests room (design flaw)

I was happy with everything about this hotel, I go to Phoenix 8 days out the month for business, this is definitely the hotel I’ll be staying at

Stayed overnight on the way from Grand Canyon to San Diego. Warm cookie on arrival is always welcome and enjoyed. Also given a complimentary bottle of water as an HHonors member. Check-​in was swift and friendly. Parking around the hotel was also free and ample.
Room was nice in being a suite but a little dated interior. Bed was comfortable. We ate in the hotel restaurant in the evening and again service was excellent and food was very tasty. Breakfast in the morning gave a lot of choice: cooked breakfast, fruit, cereals, pastries etc. and was enjoyed. Check out was very quick and simple on the TV in the room allowing us to get away easily.
No complaints at all about this hotel and would recommend for a stay in Phoenix.

If you’re a Hilton Honors member, you can choose your own room prior to check in. As with all Doubletrees, you get a freshly baked cookie upon check in. Comp airport pickup. Just call the hotel once you’ve claimed your luggage. The shuttle driver can also drive you to nearby restaurants as it can be difficult to walk in the hot desert heat. We were driven to the light rail station during our two night stay. And it was just a block away. Free daily breakfast buffet at the hotel’s Belvedere restaurant.
We selected an ADA room as there were only a few rooms with two queen beds when I went online to select our room.
Nice hotel lobby with ample seating and a small convenience store.
The hotel is conveniently located by the airport.

Stayed here and had business meetings here May 7−12^th. What a great group of people! Spot on with Customer Service from check-​in, to my meeting room accommodations, to a late check-​out. Breakfast was wonderful, and the Milagros Crew, especially Bryan, were Outstanding!!!

5 min shuttle ride from PHX to the hotel but if you rent a car, you end up on the other side of the airport and it’s a 10 min drive from PHX to the hotel.

Free parking. Do not park in the garage, park near the hotel.

Dammit I didn’t write it down and now I can’t remember so it must have just been something minor.
I would definitely stay here again if I needed to be close to the PHX airport.

Good place to stay in a fairly central location, nice sized suites, pool, gym, and complimentary breakfast buffet. Plenty of parking, staff is friendly, and if you come with little ones, they also have little cribs available so you don’t have to travel with one. My friend and her husband used this service while traveling with their toddler and said it was extremely convenient.

I get that hotel gift shops tend to overcharge, but seriously, over $ 3 for a bottle of Coke that ‘s not even 20oz, but rather only 16.9? That’s ridiculous! If you’re a guest at this hotel, It’s well worth your time to walk across the street to buy a soda at the convenience store.
Also I was here for a conference and although we were in the conference rooms at times the noise of hotel staff moving plates and other equipment in the service corridors next to us was so loud it almost drowned out the conference speaker.
I cannot recommend this hotel.
