Cute quaint little neighborhood place. Local artists’ paitings on the red walls(including Dr. King Jr. and Sammie Davis Jr.) Greeted immediately by a sweet gal in the neon green /black slacks uniform and given a drink immediately. She stayed to chat while I sipped on my drink. The price was nice — especially for the portion size! I ordered Catfish Nuggets, Red Beans and Rice and Mac and Cheese, which came with a delicious cornbread biscuit. The waitress offered me one of the hot sauces in their arsenal, and I stayed true to Red Devil. The beans and rice were cooked perfectly and had chunks of the sausage they cooked with in the bowl! The mac and cheese(obviously homemade) will make you NEVER wanna use a box again! — creamy and aldente pasta. The catfish batter was light and the fish did all the talking. Did I mention they had Red Cream Soda on tap? They do, and it was perfect for this hot monsoony weather. I left a little room for the banana pudding, and I’m so glad I did. Cold, served with fresh banana slices and vanilla wafers — UNBEATABLE. The chef(who may have been the owner) came out to chat with me as well — nice people. I was invited back and was recommended to try the collared greens and smothered pork chops; an invitation I will gladly take them up on!
