Country Inn & Suites By Carlson

I stayed here for 5 nights in August of 2015. I just moved to the area and my new home wasn’t going to be ready to move into for a few days. The price was reasonable and it is right by I-​17 and the 101 freeway.
The staff was friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. They have free wifi which works very well in the rooms, but you start to lose the signal in the pool area. The breakfast was typical for a hotel of this class, make your own waffles, sausages, some type of eggs everyday, hot and cold cereals, fresh fruit, different types of bread etc…
1 day I was in the lobby and someone came in off the street, they appeared to be homeless trying to get a room with a credit card that was declined. (This also doesn’t seem typical for this neighborhood) The staff at the front desk professionally and swiftly asked them to leave the property without the situation escalating. Management then apologized to me for having to witness that. I told them I stuck around for the free entertainment.
The only negative I can think of is that they only have 2 luggage carts. Someone at the front desk agreed with me that they need to get more and that they keep telling management that people complain that there are never any available.
Overall I had an extremely positive experience here.
Here’s a tip for you, although it is near 2 of the major freeways in Phoenix it is still 30 minutes for downtown and the airport. There might be places with better locations, but you’ll be paying a lot more for a hotel this nice further south towards downtown.

I’ve stayed in many high end hotels for four times the cost that didn’t have the level of customer service and hospitality as this hotel. kudos to the team and what a great deal $$ on top of it. Rooms are clean, well maintained and the morning breakfast is a real perk

I stayed here on a vacation with my husband, my daughter, and my daughter’s certified service dog. Upon checking in I let the desk clerk know that we had a service dog with us. She asked for documentation on the dog’s legitimacy. I informed her that was a violation of the ADA regulations. She is not allowed to ask for documentation. She stated that her boss requires it because «In Arizona…» To which I replied that the ADA supersedes any local and state laws regarding service dogs and we are not required to provide documentation. She then asked my to write on my check in paper what type of service dog he is, to which I, again, informed her that was against the law to ask for that information. After checking in I wrote a complaint to the corporate offices. I received an email apologizing for any complaints. I wrote back and asked for a written apology and assurances that the hotel staff and all hotel staff in the chain be trained in the ADA guidelines regarding service dogs, or I would be filing a complaint with the USDOJ. I received a very nice phone message from the corporate/​customer liaison, Joann Houston, to which I returned the call. I explained what had happened and what I expected to be done. She was very apologetic and assured me I would be hearing from the manager of this location, Mynor Aguilar. I received an email from the manager apologizing for my impressions on how I was treated and then it was stated in the email that they have all been trained on the policies and procedures and do not ask for documentation on service animals as is company policy and laws in Arizona (what he did not know was, again, the ADA supersede any laws in a given state). The manager denied the event even took place. I phoned and left a message again with Ms. Houston relaying the information that was given to me in the email from the manager which basically denied that the incident even happened! I am currently pursuing a written apology for the actual event which occurred and assurances from the company and the manager that training of staff will take place on the laws of the ADA regarding service animals. If this action does not occur I will be pursuing a complaint to the U.S. Department of Justice.
After reading a few other reviews it is apparent that this location has had issues with following the law regarding service dogs and therapy animals,

The only thing that annoyed me was that the hair dryer didn’t work. Other than that, everything was perfect! Wonderful location (it’s across from a hospital, which is good to have when you’re in an unfamiliar city), and it was convenient to the highway. The room was clean and comfortable. We were given a special room where no pets were allowed (it’s a pet friendly hotel, but we have a lot of allergies). The room had no signs that an animal had been present, which was perfect.

I love Country Inn. I’ve stayed at one in Plymouth, MN and this one in Deer Valley and I love that every room is set up exactly the same no matter where you go. When you’re always traveling, it’s nice to have some things remain the same so you have a bit or normalcy.
The beds are very comfortable. The rooms are clean. The bathroom is spacious with lots of counter space and they provide you with ample towels and extra pillows and blankets when needed.
I’ve stayed in their one bedroom suites and their standard room. Of course, the suite was much more spacious with a small sink in the room. The suite has two separate rooms. The living room area has a pull out bed and tv with office desk for doing work. Loved that!
The standard room has a small microwave and fridge for your convenience and an office desk for working as well. Free wifi, another plus.
There is a pool and jacuzzi outside. Laundry facilities. Fitness room which was adequate for your regular gym rat. No power lifting equipment.
Get your fresh baked cookies, coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and fresh fruit 24 hours a day. During the colder months, they have a cozy fireplace in the lobby with books to read if you’re into that. Again, being from Hawaii, I did sit by the fireplace for a bit just because.
The location is convenient to the strip mall right across the freeway where theres a Chick Fil A! We don’t have any of the restaurants at this mall in Hawaii so that was a huge plus for me!
There’s even a movie theater there as well to help keep you occupied if you’re bored.
I will definitely stay here if I’m ever in the area again.

Stayed here for a week mid February 2014. Got a great price on a suite and I couldn’t of been more impressed. Clean and well maintained, staff were always friendly and helpful. Complimentary breakfast was really awesome and the free coffee, granola bars, fruit and cookies in the lobby was a huge bonus.
Next time I’m in the area I won’t think twice about staying at the Country Inn and Suites.

First we checked in on a weekday when it was almost empty. They gave us a room right next to the extremely loud ice machine on the second floor. SO after a loooong drive to AZ we had to call and switch to a quieter room. If there are better rooms available why would you give one next to a noisy machine?
I had called ahead to see if a therapy dog would be allowed since dogs are not normally allowed. I was told yes on the phone. Then checking in the lady was fine the first day with it. Apparently the second day a cleaning lady told a manager «Theres a dog in that room» meaning she saw a dog bed, not the dog alone in the room. Unfortunately the manager took it the wrong way and we got called about not leaving our dog alone in the room (which we would never do). Then the front desk lady printed of rules about service dogs and repeatedly said «I can’t LEGALLY ask you why your dog is here…» trying to get us to tell her what the dog is for. Very rude. We felt like we had to sneak out the side entrances to not get dirty looks from the front desk.
Breakfast was ok. Room was clean. Couch pull-​out bed was super uncomfortable. Nice big grassy areas outside, would be great if they were a dog friendly hotel…

Every time my family comes to Arizona we stay at this hotel.
i like this hotel. the staff is super nice. the place is nice and cozy. makes you feel like youre at home. they have a lobby where everyone hangs out and talks. free wi-​fi. a computer you can use. books you can borrow and read. a wonderful breakfast in the morning. and its right next to a shopping center. target and ross on the other side along with a lot of good places/​choices to eat at.
their rooms are also decent. definitely love coming to this hotel while im arizona. totally recommend this place if you ever come and visit phoenix.
