I teach drum lessons to people of ALL ages and skill levels. I’m well versed in pop, rock, punk, jazz, hip hop, and funk. I have two drum kits set up facing each other, so my student can watch me while he or she is playing. In my experience, this is the best way for students to learn. I really enjoy teaching from my experience not only as a player, but also collaborating on songwriting as well as song arrangement.

History

Established in 2010.

I’ve been playing in bands, touring, recording, collaborating and writing since 1992, and still play around the Phoenix area fairly often. I started teaching lessons in my home studio in 2010. I look forward to teaching more individuals who are looking to learn from my experiences.

I started playing the drums in high school, but my love of the drums began when I was 8 and saw my aunt’s rock band play at a tiny hotel bar in Columbus, Georgia. Every Christmas and birthday after that had ‘DRUM KIT’ at the top of the list. I am self taught, aside from about 6 months of rudimentary lessons. In 1992, after moving to Phoenix from Washington DC, I started touring the country with small punk and rock bands, working my way up. With the major label band Fivespeed, I played on the Vans Warped tour in 2002 alongside the likes of Bad Religion, Good Charlotte, and NOFX. I’ve played my drums in all 48 continental states, as well as Mexico and Canada. I began teaching drums in 2010 and have loved seeing kids fall in love with playing and writing music, just as i did. Recently, in October of 2014, I was hired as the fill-​in drummer for the AZ band Authority Zero for a 6 week national headlining tour. I’m well versed in playing rock, punk, jazz, pop, funk, and hip hop.
