The owner ‘Bob’ is somewhere between a complete jackass, nightmare and cartoon character. If your a student of the college next door steer completely clear of this property. I assure you the competition in the immediate area is a much better value and vastly better run.

I have never dealt with more incompetent individuals in my entire life. They have taken 45 minutes to open up my storage unit two days in a row. The lady finally ended up bringing the key to my storage unit and to nobody’s surprise, she had the wrong key. If you’re a fan of sitting around aimlessly, feeling confused, and not storing things quickly then this place is for you!!!
Oh yeah and I went to the office to have the manager to bring the key and he just said oh yeah nothing I can do and kept sitting on his ass.

Rip off– put on a waiting list Wed. called them Friday and one had opened up but the quoted price by the manager Bobbi went up $ 40. Rented around the corner for $ 100 dollars less a month. Shame on you for ripping off college students!

Update: We left the storage 6 days early and yet at the beginning of the month they still charged me for the next month fees. We are not there and I have a receipt that says we own nothing, 0, nada. I was promised it was an accounting mistake and the funds would be put back in my account the next day, but nope it has not been done. This is a shady business to say the very least.

The customer service here is subpar. I called several times trying to book a moving van. I was attempting to use an online coupon and was told I had to call the 800# to use it. I was told by the Budget 800# that there was no record of my reservation. I had to call Camelback storage twice and divulge all my info twice. After each phone conversation, I called the Budget 800# who said there was no record of my reservation. By the time I went in to pick up the van, it was like I had never called, I didn’t even bother with bringing up the coupon issue because I didn’t want to deal with the hassle. They charged us for the insurance and roadside assistance and didn’t ask us if we wanted it first. When I inquired about the extra fees, the woman was defensive and acted annoyed. I would have probably gotten the insurance anyway but found it very dishonest that we were not asked and the pricing was not explained. Not a good business model for building customer trust; I’d rather take my money elsewhere or pay a bit higher price with another company in order to have a better experience. Moving is stressful enough already.

My daughter is a junior at GCU. I’ve dealt with Camelback Self Storage a total of four times now. The customer service has always been a little lacking. They are so slow it drives me crazy. There is absolutely no sense of urgency whatsoever. My daughter has moved out early and in early every year so thank God we haven’t been there when everyone else is trying to move in and out. The beginning of school year last year we rented a U Haul truck from them and other than the slow service everything was okay. At the end of the year they did not have rentals there, I had to go to another place to pick up the U Haul and that was another long wait. So now back to this year’s move in last week. I called to see if they had moving trucks there, they had Budget, but said I needed to reserve my truck online. I reserved the truck for Monday morning (the 3^rd), my estimate was $ 20 with tax. I got there exactly at 8am. I was the first customer there, we received the truck at 8:45. Forty-​five minutes to wait. They seem nice enough, but when you’re trying to hurry and get things done early in the morning and it’s 112 degrees outside, they could move it a long a little quicker. The truck was in between ¾ and a full tank. I turned it back in three hours later with the exact amount of gas that was given to me. There was $ 110 charge to my account. I waited all week thinking it was a deposit hold. I called today, they charged me for gas. I’m so mad. I now have to call back in a hour so they can look up the records. I’ve put up with the slowness because it’s so convenient and so close to GCU, but I’m not sure that it’s worth it at this point. We’ll see how this is handled.

Came here to pick up a budget rental truck with a friend. The regular workers were very kind, but there were a couple guys that were acting like managers who were total &$@# (choose your choice expletive). We waited for 40 minutes to be helped, and there was only one other person ahead of us, while the two managers just sat around and talked.
When we asked how long it would take to get helped, they just looked at us and told us that they’d get to us when it was our turn in line (no kidding).
Trucks were fine. Place could just use a new manager (if those guys are the ones in charge) and could work on speeding up their process. Waaaay too long.

Not sure how to review this place. I teetered between a 2 and a 3-​star and went with a 2 based on customer service.
So, we rented a Budget Truck out of Denver and our return spot was this place. Let me tell you, I’ve moved several times before and my last Budget truck experience was simple. This place was a tad different.
We returned our truck last week and I know for a fact that if you don’t fill up a Budget truck full of gas it’s like a $ 35 dollar fee + the gas it takes to fill it up. So, We had like ¾’ths of a tank and decided it wasn’t worth the hassle to find gas in this neighborhood. So, we drop it off and the lady at the counter tells us it’s like a hundred bucks. Huh? According to who?! Is this some new Camelback Self Storage Rule? So, we decided to drive the truck to the gas station to show our commitment to do right :) So, I stick the gas pump in and fill it full. It stops and is definitely full of gas as it shot gas out at me and wouldn’t let me pull anymore in. So, I take the truck back.
This lady seems really confused as to what I’m trying to say as I tell her that the pump literally wouldn’t let me put anymore gas in. I was super friendly and told her I’m 100% cool with charging me whatever she wants but we are done with the truck! Just charge me for the gas! I don’t care what it costs. She then says that we rented 3-​dozen blankets and a trolley and told us that WE had to go get all the blankets and count them! WHAT?! So, we counted them twice as she held on a conversation with her two co-​workers and eventually we said we are done with this shrade as it had taken longer than any place we have ever been before. She then said she believed us regarding the blankets being there and then she stated she was going to charge us $ 21 for the full gas tank?! WHATEVER!!!
What was most annoying was the whole time from beginning to end, she would answer the phone, talk to her co-​workers about some other issue that seemed to be bothering her and visit while we were trying to get out of there while we just sat and waited. Overall terrible customer service and really annoying as a customer. My suggestion would be if you have a truck rental bring it anywhere but here.

This place was a serious rose among the many thorns of my moving experience!
Needing to move out of my apartment after the lease is up before I close on my house I found myself needing to store my ungodly amount of stuff for a month.
While moving is never THAT enjoyable of an experience the man I worked with at Camelback Self Storage made it much easier! I was able to reserve the room online through U Haul which was super convenient. Once in the office he helped evaluate how much stuff I had an recommend what size of a unit to get. (10×10 if you want to strategize, maneuver, and make it work, 10×15 if you want to just get it in there). After the day I had Please, give me whatever’s easiest!
He was able to get me a unit right next to a door to make it as easy on myself as possible. He also let us use any of the dollies that we needed to help move stuff into the storage (a nice little surprise after spending over $ 24 for the same items the day before!)
And the icing on the cake. They sell water/​soda in the office which is so awesome! Because everyone needs a little break when moving in the middle of July here in AZ (not sure why we choose to do that to ourselves…) But towards the end of the move he was kind enough to offer us each a bottle of water.
SUCH great customer service and seriously a place I would recommend to anyone who needs to store some stuff in Phoenix. It’s a great location located right of I-​17.
