Contacted the company because they were advertising granite countertops at $ 29.99 a square foot. I searched high and low on the internet for reviews and couldn’t find positive or negative reviews. This should have been my first red flag.
The salesman was nice and gave us a good quote on replacing our kitchen countertops, which included doing the tear out and the plumbing work. My wife and I expressed our dislike for veining and spots in certain granites but acknowledged that granite is a natural stone so the patterns are random. I decided that I was going to do the plumbing on my own. I expressed this to the company and requested a revised estimate in writing. The quote went down but the cost of my tear out went up so I was not getting the full benefit of the original quote if I did my own plumbing. This should have been my second red flag right there. I sent them a follow-​up email attaching their lowest estimate and subtracted out the plumbing work and the cost of the new sink (I found one much much lower on Amazon, so this was another spot where I was being upcharged quite a bit) and said to them if they could get the work done for this price, we could move forward. The sales guy contacted me the next day and said they could do it for that price. Great! Nope.
I met the sales guy at the tile supplier to pick out my slabs. The supplier brought a slab out that I liked a lot. My sales guy told me that I didn’t want that one and that the supplier didn’t bring out the right tile. The sales guy specifically said to me that he was looking out for me. The next slab I was shown had a giant vein through it. I immediately said I didn’t like that one. The sales guy tried to tell me that the veining is great and adds all kinds of character. I explained that it wasn’t for us. The next few pieces I was shown all had huge veins through them. It finally hit me — because they honored my emailed counteroffer, the quality of granite that they were going to give me was going to drop. I pointed to the granite that I wanted and said «we want this one» which was the non-​classic version of the tile with the veining in it. The sales guy told me that it would be more and that when he came to the house, he showed me the «classic» version of the granite. I can promise you that was not the case. I walked out of the granite supplier and fired Arizona Kitchens by Max. If you hate the bait and switch sales technique, I would avoid this company.
