Arizona Grand Resort & Spa

A short review for a large place… I came her for a business function for the week. The suite rooms where average and are in need of a renovation. The property is really spread out which requires a lot of walking but you can get a golf cart «taxi» at anytime with great ease. The food was of resort quality — mass purchased and mass cooked but that is what you expect at these types of events. The staff was very friendly and very accommodating to the guests. The property has a huge waterpark which appears to be pretty awesome but I was there in the winter time and it was closed.

My husband and I had a staycation here last week and enjoyed ourselves. We didn’t use the main amenities offered, but we did enjoy the fire pit outside. The room was alright, the grounds were nice, and the service was exceptional.

We had the worst experience, spent the weekend here for my birthday and also let the kids play at the water park, my Lil two year old and I were bitten up by bed bugs, we contacted management since we tore up our beds to find blood on sheets w bed bugs, no management came to our room they sent up a woman who inspected our bed and verified bed bugs and after an hour we were moved a different building and room, as the woman informed us that as they are too busy during summer season they are unable to check for bed bugs in their rooms, this is done during winter months. We were given $ 50 worth of coupons for the water park for our inconvenience, we lost our day changing rooms and my two yr old was bitten up and water at water park irritated his skin and of course was very uncomfortable. I will never recommend this resort to anyone the customer service is horrible, no apologies or anything, I have tried also numerous times to add my review on TripAdvisor and so funny it keeps deleting it ! Hmmmm wonder why. Very unhappy customer !

The location is ideal if you are flying in and renting a car. We have everything we need close by including shopping and dining off sight. Prices are a little high on sight but that is what you would expect.
Golf course and water park are closed right now. The spa has an amazing gym with classes, trainers, and a pool. We could have scheduled messages but passed on it this trip.
I loved sitting outside the lobby sipping my tea and reading in the cool morning. The gift shop if very nice and you can grab fruit, yogurt or a muffin for breakfast.
Since we are far from the spa, they suggested we call for a ride to and from. They were fast and friendly. I greatly appreciated it because I have difficulty walking that far right now.
The rooms are a little old, but everything was clean and comfortable. Again, location, location, location.

We always stay here while in Phoenix. It’s an oasis for real. You can’t even believe you are in the middle of Phoenix until you leave the resort. Yes it’s for golfers but I spend my time at the pool, water park and top of the line workout facility. The grill is good but very over priced for the quality. If I didn’t care about leaving this oasis, I’d walk across the street to Denny’s.

I spent a few days at the water park. Very enjoyable, nice way to spend a sunny day. They have 3 water slides and a lazy river (pool). They do not have tyne lazy river and slides running at the same time, instead they are open for a few hours at a time. I’m certain they do this for cost reasons so that they don’t need as many people on staff. We were quite upset at one point during the day. We trotted our out-​of-​shape butts all the way up to the highest slide only to be told that they were closed and we had to walk back down. Suggestion for management: have a staff member (or even a sign placed) at the entrance about 10 minutes before the slides close so that this does not happen to guests. I heard a number of guests complain about this.

If I could rate as a 10 star I would! I booked a last minute deal just hours before arrival. When the desk saw me the knew I was tired from driving from CA and painting all day at my son’s home for his birthday present! The front desk upgraded me to a suite! Not just any suite the best one they had! So after visiting their hillside restaurant with an amazing view, we stopped in for a drink at the lobby bar before turning in!
MICHAEL was the best, most considerate, positive and accommodating bartender!!! I mean to tell you if he worked for me, he makes you look good. I had asked where I could go off site to purchase some popcorn, he thought about it and shortly thereafter, he shows up with a surprise bag of fresh popped popcorn!!! All the kitchens were closed, it’s the skeleton crew, and he goes out of his way to make a guest happy when he could have clearly just left it alone.
The grounds, the waterfalls, the amenities, the staff all stellar!

Overall a great visit. The facility is very nice spread out and very nicely landscaped with gorgeous golfing grounds. However not be in the golfing, that was not of much interest as we were in town to see the Saints play the cardinals.
There was a group of 16 of us including the few children we had seven suites including three Villas, which were complimentary upgrades! All of the rooms were very nice indeed. Aside from the villas we had rooms in Mountainside and in Camelback all very nice. Plenty of AC every room had a balcony; the rooms themselves were nicely appointed, and frankly my only knock is the TV in the bedroom was kind of hard to watch because it’s tucked in the corner.
Personally, I prefer a hotel with inside hallways and the grand resort does not have them; all rooms open to outside but that’s fine it wasn’t huge deal. In fact there seem to always be somebody from the staff running around on the golf cart and offered to take you to the lobby or someplace, so that was quite nice.
Staff were fantastically friendly, efficient and attentive. From the front desk, to the Bellman, parking attendant on and on, from the front desk, to the Bellman, parking attendants on and on.
For breakfast they were very accommodating and creative dining space for us with the window view of the lake and fountain which is really nice way to start the day. Bob waited on us and frankly I would highly recommend you look him up if you get there. He’s a really great guy we had a great time talking and I cannot begin to tell you how attentive and genuinely friendly he was.
And, of course with the huge party people helping and they were just as nice too. By the way, the food was quite good there. We mostly ate away because we were traveling to the city and at the stadium, but breakfast was excellent and appetizers at the bar were also very very good, and they pour with a generous hand :-)
My one major complaint revolves around an issue at the bar. Something like five TVs in there and we wanted to watch the LSU game that evening Saturday and one of our guests called and asked if they could accommodate a party of 16. She was told no, but I didn’t realize she had asked.
Meanwhile, I went to the front desk spoke with Kobe who is great and who went to the bar to work something out for us. Everything was going great we thought, kickoff time would be able to watch the game — all 16 of us! But that was not to be. The bar manager said that as long as somebody was watching one of the other games, he would not change the channel so I actually had to walk around and offer to pay to pick up peoples checks just so that we could watch the game.
This included one large TV that a party of two was only sort of casually watching, and in fact when I talked to them they really didn’t care about the game. They were actually leaving and they were delighted to have us pick up their check. The bar manager could have made an effort but was completely rigid in his viewpoint.
So, finally, after 20 minutes of wheedling, negotiating and, well just plain begging, we were finally able to get him to turn the TV to the channel because I went around asking the patrons. None minded at all.

The manager said well you wouldn’t want us to change the channel if you’re watching program, and I certainly agree with him. But as a food service person myself with a strong background in customer service, my approach would have been to ask the couple if they would like to sit at the bar, Watch the big TV at the bar, and have a complimentary drink on the house so that I could accommodate a large group sitting in the middle of my bar. And we were not cheapskates either; we bought a ton of appetizers and drinks, and tip the waitstaff very, very generously.
I would return to the Arizona grand resort and spa in a heartbeat. But I would not plan on frequenting the bar or counting on them for any kind of service to require any kind of extra effort whatsoever. Having said that, I will tell you that he was very pleasant and genial even in his obstinance.
We certainly didn’t feel entitled to any special treatment, but it just seems that if you have two people watching the TV and 16 who tried to arrange to watch TV perhaps democracy might prevail. but not here :-)

Very nice overnighter. The room was nice, the twins loved the waterpark and movie-​by-​the-​pool at 8pm was neat. I thought the parking lot situation was messed up (very crowded and entrances/​exits to certain lots were blocked off) but that was a minor inconvenience.
Kids have to be 48″ for the slides, the lazy river was nice and the wave pool was OK. Oh. And the staff was very friendly.

I love this place! No wonder it made the top 10 hotel –water slides for children … We drive all the way from San Diego as a pit stop to Grand Canyon… the hotel has a wave pool, kiddie pool area, jacuzzi, lazy river, and 3 water slides!!! And I am not talking about a dinky slide, it was huge!!! The hubby and kiddos love it! The only thing is my youngest could not clear the height requirement to ride – needed to be at least 48 inches —-bummer!
Aside from that, we love the pool. We actually got a cabana –we called at 11ish and the guy said that bc some hours had passed so he would give us a rate of $ 300 as oppose to $ 400…it came with unlimited ice cold water bucket and a fruit platter and a cookie platter. We figured our room was not ready until 4ish — so we went ahead and did the cabana rental. It was worth the money. The kiddos love the fruits…
We will definitely return in the future!

Stayed here over a recent extended weekend with the family and had a wonderful time. The property is truly beautiful; the rooms were clean with soundproof walls; the beds were comfy; the Oasis water park and other on-​site pools were superfun; and with the exception of a newer (young female) desk employee in the spa, the service we rec’d from everyone on staff was top notch.
The Oasis water park was so much fun! Loved the slides and Lazy River. My family had a blast playing water volleyball and basketball in a pool adjacent to the wave pool. So many pool possibilities. Not crowded on a Friday and a relief in the 108 – 115 degree heat.
We enjoyed breakfasts and a room-​service/​late night dinner from the lobby restaurant, as well as desserts and drinks in the lobby bar. All times, we rec’d great quality food and presentation. The entire wait staff was wonderful, as well. While we didn’t get a chance to check out the on-​property steakhouse (Rustler’s Roost), we did have dinner at the on-​property Mexican restaurant (Aunt Chilada’s) one evening. It is similar to an El Torito’s or Chevy’s franchise restaurant — not bad, but not great either.
The reason I’m not giving full, 5 star status is due to an issue we experienced relating to a lack of time management and customer service at the spa with coordinating multiple spa packages. While the services themselves were wonderful, there was confusion and a lack of coordination, as well as incorrect times given for our party of 4. Needless to say, it didn’t lend to the stress-​free environment we were hoping for. It also didn’t help that a newer female desk employee was terse, snitty, and not exactly customer-​friendly to my husband (who was celebrating his birthday that day) over the phone when he called down to verify spa appointments — especially since spa staff never contacted us with verification of our services.
On-​site costs for services, meals, and sundries/​goods are understandably pricey (you’re paying for convenience), however they were comparable to other resorts we’ve stayed at. The overall value for a family of four staying in two separate/​adjoining suites — including roundtrip airfare from CA and a rental car — was affordable and reasonable for our middle-​class budget. The $ 47/​day resort fee was expected and also reasonable. It included passes for the Oasis water park as well as access to all property pools, the spa, the athletic club, and adjacent hiking trails. It also included on-​site parking and WiFi which — contrary to others’ experience on here — was decent.
All-​in-​all, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun family weekend, romantic getaway, ‘staycation’, or girl’s weekend. We will be back the next time we’re in town.

This resort was great for my 3 kids all under 10 and it’s okay for adults. Upon arrival had no line to check in and got exactly the room we wanted — directly in front of the pool which was surprisingly awesome.
Rooms are cozy with well functioning temp controls, patio with decent furnishings. Rooms were clean and beds were really comfortable even for someone with back troubles. The pool was also surprisingly kid friendly and they did not nickel and dime us for tubes etc.
some of the cons include extremely visible and smelly commercial sized garbage bins outside, very small parking spaces that are some distance from the room, and a lot of people here had snobby attitudes.
Overall it’s a good place for a staycation even with the little ones and the price is very manageable. I would recommend everybody try it at least once.

I was seriously disappointed by this resort. It apparently attracts a huge crowd for summertime staycation to the point that it was downright unpleasant.
It started with the hour wait to check in… but I was still optimistic, I thought I would enjoy the property which seemed nice from the lobby.
Next we received a room in the mountainside on the first floor. The balcony overlooked a parking lot and the living room faced a stucco wall. Would have requested a change but was afraid of the huge crowd at the front desk.
Next we went to the water park. It was packed as bad as Wet n Wild if not worse. I was hoping a hotel water park if smaller would be nicer than the local water parks. After an hour we headed back to the room.
We had planned to order room service and relax but really there was nothing appealing about hanging around the room which was nothing special and had the aforementioned crummy view.
I was then we decided to go home. No reason to waste more money and hang around in the room. We checked in at 4:30 and left at 7:30.

I was really disappointed in this property.
First, they have a serious parking issue. It would be better if you flew in and didn’t rent a car or never left the property so you didn’t have to search and search and search for parking spaces each time you came back.
Next, really, there are no luggage carts? The only way, other than dragging everything around is to get someone with a dolly to help you. Which pretty much means you’re now obligated to give a tip.
The food in the lobby restaurant was too «fru-​fru» for us, sometimes you just want basics with no sauces you can’t pronounce.
We didn’t get to the water park.
I don’t think I would stay here again.

Location:
The location of the resort was easy to to find as it was immediately off of the interstate (West Side). It was near Arizona Mills and Fry’s Electronic Store. For some reason though we had trouble locating the check-​in lobby when we got there and had to turn around.
Check-​in:
Check in was mediocre with an explanation of things on site. They end up giving you a little card packet with your mini-​bar key, room keys and WiFi Password
Room:
Room was really just… okay. I felt that for the amount of money that we paid ($ 250+taxes+resort fee) that we would have had a little better room. We even upgraded $ 20/​night to be closer to the water park. The beds was not very comfortable compared to other hotels well below this price range and forget sleeping on the sleeper sofa. If you like to feel the springs poking on your back, then I guess that is the place for you. I had to use the sofa cushions as extra cushions for my kids so it would not poke them. Also, DO NOT eat anything from the MINI-BAR…that is unless you want to pay $ 4.50 for a $ 0.50 pack of M&M’s. I made sure to keep this key away from my kids.
POOL:
Again, I was not completely impressed with the pool considering the high price of the resort. They had a wave pool, a lazy river and some slides. My kids would have been happy with just the pool section as they were not even big enough for the slides.
RESTAURANTS:
We had the «Stay and Play Package» which gave us $ 50 credit towards two restaurants on site that also allowed us to have kids Eat Free under 12. We ate at both restaurants called Lobby Bar and Grill and Aunt Chilada’s. If you find my review on Unilocal of Aunt Chiladas, you’d find out that I would rather go to a Taco Bell again rather than this place. It was really bad and I’m not even sure how they can call most of their food «Mexican Food». Lobby bar and grill was delicious though and if I were to do it again, I would have eaten there each day to use that $ 50 credit. Also, eating in the pool area is extremely expensive. and if you want an alcoholic drink be prepared to pay up. It’s $ 11.25 for most mixed drinks that are not even that strong.
Price:
I felt that they had a lot of charges on top of charges, There was the base price, the room tax, room fees, resort tax, etc. The Resort Fee was $ 47/​night!!! Yeah, that was the highest resort fee I’ve ever paid. Just for comparison, both the Bellagio and the Wynn in Las Vegas have a resort fee of $ 32/​night.
Overall:
I would probably never stay at this resort again unfortunately. It was just too high priced for what was given. For two nights with the stay and play package it was around $ 550. I’ll just go to a water park next time close by.

My daughter and I booked a king room for one night on 7÷6÷15. It was a mini Staycation for us.
I dislike when hotels have late check in times. This hotel is a 4pm check in. I feel like I’m not getting my money worth since I’m not getting a full day.
On the plus side you are allowed to pick up the water park tickets as early as 12:00 and go swimming.
So I went in at 1:45 to get our tickets and asked if our room was ready for check in and to my surprise it was! I got the package deal that included 6 water park tickets and a $ 50 credit good for the restaurant or spa.
A week before checking in, I rcvd an email asking if I’d like to make restaurant reservations or spa reservations so I did book breakfast at The Lobby Grill for the following morning.
We put our bags away and my daughters friend met us for swimming.
The water park features a couple steep slides, a lazy river, a very small wave pool and a swimming area. The girls didn’t like the wave pool. Said it was too small. More for younger kids. They really enjoyed the lazy river though.
At the water park they do have a snack bar. Plenty of covered seating. Towels. A gift shop in case u forgot sunscreen or swimsuit.
The hotel is older but it seems they try to keep it clean and up to date. Our room was #S350. The water park was just a short walk down the path plus our room was overlooking a smaller pool just outside our door. Just downstairs was a ping pong table and a water fountain.
The sleeping area is separate from the living room. There is a TV in the living room as well as bedroom. The sofa does pull out to a QN sleeper. The mini bar is stocked but at $ 4.50 for one can of soda… no thank you. Best to bring your own drinks and snacks.
No microwave is a disappointment.
The A/​C works extremely well. They had set it to 60 degrees. Brrrrr it felt like I walked into an ice cooler. I set the temperature to my liking.
I’m tall so I liked that the counters were higher than what you typically find with counter heights.
Only one small bar of soap was provided to be used for bathing and hand washing. :(I would have liked two bars.
The cleaning crew should pay attention to the finer details. There was a shoe print on the wall as well as smudges that they could have easily wiped down.
If you want to go up the street to Az Mills Mall the hotel will provide a ride for free. There are restaurants near by if you don’t want to eat at the hotel which is what we did. We had dinner at Applebee’s.
Overall I’m happy with my stay. I went in feeling stressed and came out relaxed.

Okay, Arizona Grand Resort & Spa has upped their game from 2 years ago. My daughter, grand daughter & I had the most enjoyable 2 day stay there Tuesday, 29 Jun — Wednesday, 1 Jul 2015. Our room was extremely clean & presentable. Was stocked with plenty of towels, wash clothes & hand towels. Complimentary single serve coffee maker, with coffee & tea pods made each morning worth waking up to. Being on the 1^st floor close to the Oasis Water Park & Pool with all the beautiful water features on property was absolutely awesome. Thank you to all the super courteous Staff who make the Arizona Grand Resort & Spa a truly special place to stay. We will be back!!!

We recently stayed here. It was our second staycation here this year. We took her 10-​year-​old with a friend of his. Our stay was for two days. The boys had fun on all the waterpark stuff. Especially the slides and the lazy river. Because of the season and the weather, it wasn’t too crowded when we went on a Wednesday and Thursday and Friday. The room was accommodating. We were even able to hook up the Xbox for the boys to play. The resort is close to all sorts of eating places. And it was a nice relaxing stay cation. This time even had a view of the courtyard. Last time it was the garbage cans. Awesome !!

This is like the cattle farm, huge corporate resort, charges you for EVERYTHING and ANYTHING. Service and rooms are very mediocre, high prices too!
Came here on a business trip for a couple of days and it was overall a very mediocre experience. The room rates were very high compared to some of the other hotels in town, and there’s also a very high resort fee to use the WIFI, the fitness facilities. The gym and pools close at 9pm, so it was inconvenient for me to go workout late at night.
The resort is HUGE, and everything is far from everything else. my friend was staying in a different complex and it was a 10min walk from my room to her room. The gym is also 10min from my room. So I called for a golf cart to take me places. Everytime I called the golf cart would either not show up, or come 20min later. It was rather an inconvenient way to get around. The WIFI was really really slow to the point I couldn’t even download my emails.
The restaurants on the property are all seriously terrible, and the services were not good at all.

My Husband, baby and I stayed at the Arizona Grand for my bday. This place was exceptional compared to the other hotels with a 10 mile radius. If you’re not looking to spend money, this place may not be the place for you. They do charge for their great service and grand property. Besides their resort fee, they test charge your account a $ 50/​day for incidentals. It will reflect in your account as pending. Once you check out, they will put back the difference of what had not been used. When we were checking in, they had a company event. When we were checking out, the first company was checking out and another was checking in. Their property has the space and amenities for large corporate events. I was able to use their business center and it is large. They have an entire building space for it. Great for traveling professionals.
We were tired and hungry the first day so we made the 2 big mistakes of our trip.
1) We ate the Cracker Jack and drank the water in their fridge– the water bottle was about $ 5 and small Cracker Jack packet $ 6.50
2) We ordered room service– on top of the costly menu, they have a 23% service charge. FYI– they leave the tip portion blank but the servers receive 16% of that 23%.
After learning that, we were able to find other affordable options for dining and our stay was Divine! The resort and all of what they offer MADE my trip worth wild.
The amenities that were included in their resort fee, which we took advantage of were the golf cart pick up, their up to date gym and their great Oasis water park.
Thank you for the great stay and making my birthday memorable. We will definitely come back.
