ADT is a terrible organization for mid size businesses, they bait and switch their pricing 3 times during the installation. They say they can handle your property, then they say there is going to be additional charges for service and equipment. Then they come back again saying they need even more additional equipment installed and then they want to charge additional fees to install that equipment. A month later and we still do not have any equipment or service from ADT. What is worse is my sales rep is the regional sales director for the southwestern US. These folks are bad at business.

We have used ADT for security for quite a few years and have paid for the service coverage. We recently received a ‘low battery’ warning and, when I called, was told that changing batteries is considered a courtesy service and no longer covered. I plan to changed service providers soon, as customer service and courtesy are extremely important to me as I choose where to spend my money.

Alarm did work and scared off an attempted break in. The problem I have is that it is taking over one week to have ADT come to fix the compromised senors and re-set the alarm! Having to go without an alarm right after an attempted break in just doesn’t make sense to me! I’m told, «we can only make appointments during times we have available.» I’m thinking ADT needs to re-evaluate some business practices.

Absolutely disgusted with the service and ethics of this company. First of all I am cold called by an ADT sales rep(Michael) Friday evening, pressure selling me to set up security for my new home. I get it, I’m a salesperson as well. What I don’t appreciate is the following: 1) scheduling for service to be the following day and no one calls or shows up. 2) The salesperson did not say he would be running my credit. I just purchased a home, I have multiple inquiries and the last thing I need is another pull on my credit. At the very least, you should be up front with a client. I’m pretty sure that’s against the law actually. 3) If I had not asked, would have been tricked into a 3 year service agreement. Upon receipt of our conversation he hands me a sheet(which I have not signed by the way) saying that I’ve agreed to a 3 year service agreement.) Shady Shady Shady. So I call on Wednesday after not hearing anything from the salesman or the company and speak to the salesman about the situation and he promises to fix the situation. Two hours go by and no call or anything from the company. By now I am livid. I called to cancel service as the salesman tried some BS line of an excuse. I don’t care how many free months of your crappy service you offer me you have lost my business forever. The last thing I need is security company in my home who are unreliable and conniving liars. I’d never do business with them and will tell everyone I know not to use their service. Obviously this salesperson has no ethics and judging from the other reviews about his company it seems they are all a bunch of crooks. Use a company that doesn’t have service agreements and can’t price increase you in the 2nd and 3rd year, has business integrity, and trustworthy service. Something ADT obviously lacks.

Last year ADT told us we moved into the most dangerous city in the nation. I said«Really?! More than Chicago, Detroit or DC? Would you like to wait while I pull up the stats on that?» They didn’t have time to wait. Tsk tsk. Today they told a client of mine(I’m a Realtor) that their agent(me) should have told them I made an appointment for them to show up today and I should’ve told them.(I did not and would not). I’m such to death of lying sales people. I will, going forward, forewarn every client of their lying sales tactics. Do NOT trust them or use them.

We just purchased a new house in Phoenix with an existing ADT system. Instead of uninstalling the system, a local ADT representative(Steve) offered us a two-month trial to see if we wanted to keep it. We said sure, why not — we’ve never had home security and thought it was worth a shot. ADT tried to bill us twice during the two months and we had to endure the phone system in order to get the charges removed. Now that our two months is coming to a close, I’ve tried to call and cancel four times. When I finally got through to someone, they told me ADT does not honor trial periods, and that we would be paying a cancellation fee of OVER A THOUSANDDOLLARS to cover the next three years. I want this out in public, future home owners be warned. Do not fall for this scam. We are still waiting for someone from ADT to come forward and make this right. Surely someone in this company has a working moral compass. The local representative(Steve) who offered us the two month«deal» told us it is our problem now, and that he could possibly get the contract downsized to a year. Dirty, slimy business dealings ADT. Update: The representative who contacted me a week ago called me today after two emails and a phone call asking for a resolution. The bottom line is that literally nothing has changed — they are sticking with the«offer» of reducing our contract to one year instead of three. I reminded him that he agreed with me that it was a very shady situation and that we had been«hooked in»(his own words) and then asked how it was worth it for ADT, as a business, to continue to try and get $ 300 out of us rather than stand behind their word and protect their reputation. Apparently it isn’t! So, all the reviews will stay, all the reviews on Unilocal,Facebook, Twitter, etc., and I will continue to add them. A huge thank you to those who have offered their support and those who are spreading the word. ADT is not an honest company and have made it abundantly clear that they do not care about their customers. I have not been surprised to find many more scathing reviews as I have added mine to the bunch. ADT, I suppose I should thank you for showing your true form and making it easy to warn people away from your business. I hope it was worth it. Enjoy your $ 300!
