History
Established in 2011.
This location served as a drive-thru photo lab in the 80’s, then was transformed into a coffee shop in the 90’s. In January 2011, Owner Rebecca Golden acquired the location + turned into the first day/night establishment offering all 3 meals, breakfast, lunch + dinner plus cocktails and a modern urban vibe. «It was a dream of mine for 10 years! I worked two jobs for years so that I could save enough money and wouldn’t have to get a loan or borrow any money.»
This urban café has been transformed into an flex concept with days that feel like a espresso bar /café, serving local beans, breakfast + lunch. You can order through drive-thru or inside. Then after 4pm, the café transforms into a winebar like feel, even though there is a full bar. The atmosphere is dark and cozy with candles, table service and funky vibe. The patio is dog-friendly and offers misters in the summer and heaters in the winter.
This place was built for the neighborhood + there are lots of regulars, LOTS!
Meet the Business Owner
Rebecca G.
Business Owner
Hi, I’m Rebecca, the owner of 32 SHEA. This all started about 10 years ago when I was living in Arcadia + witnessed the transformation Postino’s had on that neighborhood. At the same time, I had just adopted my dog Sedona + it seemed there wasn’t any dog-friendly places, that inspired me to write a business plan for a dog-friendly winebar.
Not coming from wealth + frankly not knowing anyone wealthy, I realized that I would have to save for a long time before I was able to open my dream. So, I worked 2 jobs for a loooong time. The 1st job supported my everyday life, the 2nd job (as a server at Tesoro Italian Restaurant) was put into savings.
I always thought I’d open downtown, but when I moved into this N. PHX neighborhood I fell in love with this location. The owner at the time would not sell, so I had to wait for them to close. 3 years I waited. I actually would write my name on the windows when he wasn’t looking 2 manifest my dream.
So now here we are, I hope you enjoy!
