World of Animals At Rittenhouse

World of Animals is awesome! The doctors are thorough and friendly, honest and friendly. My first day in the city my dog Deke had an injury at the dog park and they stayed open after-​hours to help him. Highly recommend taking your pet here, they’re great!

After the travesty of a time we had with the Pet Mechanic (see my other review) I feel compelled to say how much I like this vet. We are always allowed in the room with our dog and the vets are always gentle. My dog loved coming here and the staff knew him and liked him as well. They are always on top of things (paperwork and scheduling) which is lacking in other local vets. The follow up calls to make sure he is okay is a really nice touch. Despite moving away we are thinking about using these guys again!

First and foremost, I love how much Dr. Dominic Dallago gets a kick out of my cat. He finds him hilarious, enjoys treating him and plays with him too. Although my pet is super social in a familiar environments, he’s not always keen on going to the vet, so Dominic’s special attention is greatly appreciated. The prices are fair as well. I got two vaccinations, a check up, ear cleaning, and worm sampling for $ 136. My only complaint is that I usually have to wait at least a half hour past my appointment time to be seen, but they have a lot of patients, so it’s understandable.

I took my cat who was peeing blood out of anxiety here for a sick visit. Dr. Dallago was very informative and gave the correct diagnosis, that my cat was just acting up and that his problem was mental. My cat did eventually get over it and stopped peeing blood after a week. Unfortunately, I won’t be back here unless maybe emergencies. The pricing is just too high. Urine, blood, and stool test and check up cost me a total of $ 220. They also recommended my cat get the standard vaccines but when I asked how much it was going to be $ 27 for a rabies shot! No way! I went somewhere else and got it for $ 10. Very good vet but I can’t afford this kind of pricing… ugh.
On another note, I also had this feeling that this animal hospital is partial to dogs. While I was there, some dog owners brought their dogs in and the staff and the doctor was all chatting the dog owners up and admiring the dogs. My cat did not get that kind of affection or attention even during the exam (and hey I think my cat’s pretty nice). I would rather go to a vet that appreciates cats more. My visit didn’t feel very personal.

I definitely recommend World of Animals Rittenhouse to anyone in Philadelphia. Making an appointment was extremely easy and I was able to get my new puppy an appointment the morning after I adopted him! I saw Dr. Carroll and both she and her assistant were so accommodating and gave me such helpful advice. The addition of the new online patient portal is even better, and I look forward to making appointments online in the future. All the staff I encountered were friendly and made my puppy feel comfortable in the new environment.

I highly recommend World of Animals to any pet owner. They have really convenient office hours and their staff is always friendly and great with my two pups. Both Dr. Dellago and Dr. Carroll were great with my pups. They’re both very friendly and great at putting both owner and dog at ease. I find their rates to be reasonable and their location is convenient.

The staff is very kind. Gave my pup Murphy treats, attention, and even dried him off when he walked in scared on a rainy day. Scheduling is easy and the staff always calls to follow up to check on Murphy after his appointments.
Dr. Dallago is the best! Answered all of my annoying puppy questions and was very thorough during examining Murphy. Helped me through dealing with a finicky eater, the poop-​fiasco of 2015, and saved the day when Murphy thought it would be a good idea to eat lots of cardboard (spoiler alert: it was a HORRIBLE idea). Dr. Dallago is just a cool normal dude that really knows his stuff.

My 6-​month English Bulldog Meatloaf has been coming here since I got him back in October, and we both absolutely love it! The doctors here really understand the precarious nature of bulldog health, and we are quite frequent visitors. I brought Meatloaf for our first visit back in October to Dr. Dallago who he loved and who provided excellent care. I had another bulldog back in July who had died from pneumonia due to negligent care by another veterinarian practice in NY. I brought Meatloaf in because he had some nasal discharge and was starting to cough, so I was worried that he was also developing pneumonia. Dr. Dallago really took my concerns seriously and took quick action to get him on antibiotics and get an X-​ray. I brought him back to Dr. Carroll the next day because he seemed a little worse, and she immediately told me to take him to the ER. I really believe that because of their quick action and excellent care Meatloaf was able to recover quickly after a couple days in the ICU at Penn. Dr. Carroll called ahead to let them know we were coming and the transfer of care was seamless. Meatloaf has been seen many times after this by Dr. Carroll who always provides the best care and never once have I felt rushed or that my questions were not answered.
Not only are the veterinarians here great but the entire staff from the receptionists to the vet techs (I wish I remembered all of their names but they are all wonderful and really love all the animals!). I have not met one person who was not overly helpful and kind. Most times that I have had to bring Meatloaf in have not been scheduled appointments but have been due to some symptoms of illness. As such, I did not have prescheduled appointments, but would call in the morning and have always been able to been seen that same day. Anytime I call I have my calls returned promptly. Anytime I have to pick up medicine, it is always there waiting. We are so lucky to have found World of Animals — they truly go above and beyond for their patients!

My husband and I just moved to Philly from Austin, TX. We left behind an awesome vet we really loved (shoutout @ Nick and Corner Vet Austin!), so the bar was pretty high for a replacement.
I took our 6-​year-​old pit mix to World of Animals for the first time this week, and it was a great experience. The wait was short, the people were friendly, the offices were clean. Every staff member I encountered seemed to have genuine affection for the animals in the office. (This is especially nice as the owner of a sometimes-​maligned breed.)
I was also really impressed by the level of care my guy received. Dr. Carroll was great with him, took his symptoms seriously, and explained all of our options thoroughly (including cost considerations). There were a few different possible causes of his symptoms, so she also went above and beyond by doing some after-​hours research into the prevalence of a certain type of parasite in Texas since we’d just moved from there. She even called me that night to fill me in on X-​ray results and their implications.
It’s so nice to have already found a vet I feel I can trust to give my doggie the care I want him to have.

I visited the veterinarian on October 1^st, 2015.
It has been exactly two weeks, however I still cannot contain the contempt I have for this place and for the people working here. If Unilocal would allow it, I would gladly have this place as minus stars.
This isn’t some restaurant review but a hospital for loved ones that should carry all the responsibility and utmost sincerity but failed to do so. As a consequence, my review will be very critical.
My 14 year old Shih-​Tzu started vomiting for a few days, which is normal for this guy usually, but he started rejecting all of his food. Naturally, I became concerned and researched all through out Philadelphia and actually made a list of four veterinary offices that were highly rated and I even called ahead to compare prices. By my first impression with the receptionist or the vet techs answering calls, I wanted to make an appointment elsewhere, however, an appointment wasn’t available so I stuck with World of Animals.
The reception area was quite small and I had two dogs with me so I wanted to settle down before speaking with the front desk. A male vet tech coldly asked if they could help me like I didn’t belong there with my two dogs. After informing him of my appointment, someone else took over and told me to fill out some paperwork while they were going through my neatly organized vet records.
After some time, while there were no other patients, a blonde vet tech led me to a tiny exam room in the back which resembled a spare storage closet. The door was broken and the entire room did not seem structurally sound at all with a make-​shift sink and another broken back door for vets’ access.
Ultimately, a blonde vet tech started asking basic questions of my pet’s situation to fill out a report. As this is a hospital for your loved ones who CANNOT speak for themselves, you want to do your best to describe detailed accounts of what and how. Every time I attempted to answer her questions thoroughly, she would cut me off mid-​sentence, hardly interested in the patient. I felt that we were either being chased out or pressed for time.
At this point I wanted to leave in the middle of the check up and just wait for the other hospitals to have be available. As I was preparing to leave, the vet, Dr. Ericka Carroll walked in. She seemed friendly and genuinely interested in her patient, so I decided to give it another try to explain my circumstances. Dr. Carroll spoke very quickly to a point where I constantly felt rushed. Dr. Carroll’s way of holding a conversation (same goes for the vet tech) felt completely inappropriate given the conditions. I asked many times to explain further, and yet she failed to slow down or be thorough, repeating the same thing at the same pace.
Next, my dog was take upstairs for exams as I waited in the reception area for results. Suddenly other patients started pouring into the clinic to a point where there was barely space to sit or properly restrain each others’ dogs. Many of the vet techs working didn’t seem to care or notice this.
Once the results came out, I was directed upstairs to another exam room that seemed renovated and much nicer but still mediocre compared to the exam room downstairs. While the blonde vet tech did help me carry one of my dogs upstairs whilst I was fetching my belongings, it felt odd that this was the highlight of my experience.
The most difficult news came when the bloodwork results indicated that my dog’s chronic kidney disease has progressed significantly over the year and needed immediate fluid therapy. The vet recommended hospitalization where professionals would be able to monitor my dog overnight to avoid any heart complications. However, the World of Animals clinic didn’t provide overnight stays so Dr. Carroll recommended we go to VSEC. Regardless, she reiterated that this was an EMERGENCY and that we should seek fluid treatment IMMEDIATELY.
She then followed up by rudely cutting off my questions after the difficult news by insisting that we go to the waiting room as she had spent far too long with us. After nearly a half hour of waiting in our «EMERGENCY» state, the front desk fumbled with our paperwork while the waiting room was out of control with patients and their owners. I asked multiple times for them to please finish up so I could get my dog the care he DESERVED.
Do yourself a favor and find another place for your checkups. You might save yourself some stress and pain over avoiding World of Animals.
***After Connie’s response, it seems that this clinic fails to accept that nearly 45 minutes (nearly half an hour spent AFTER our session) of the «time» spent with our dog was spent in the waiting room, in which our EMERGENCY situation wasn’t very promptly addressed by the staff, which continued to be rude and untimely with us while we had to get emergency care IMMEDIATELY. Unfortunately we neither received a quick and effective diagnosis nor state of the art veterinary care until we left.

I’m a first time dog owner and came to WofA from a recommendation from Gabrielle W. Our little terrier, Benji, was 13 months old when he joined our family.
Our first visit went really well! The tech gave us some good background and tips about being a dog owner, and was very sweet and friendly with Ben. Dr. Dellago was great and answered all of our questions, no matter how silly they were. Hubs keeps saying he couldn’t believe that Dr. D. cupped Benji’s goods and then rubbed his eye (and he wasn’t wearing gloves!), but I didn’t notice. He gave Ben a full examination and clipped his nails too.
A few weeks later we came back to drop Ben off to be neutered. We were pretty nervous about the whole ordeal, but the team took really good care of Ben. They walked me through the entire process, explained all of the charges, and were thorough in terms of instructions for his medication. Basically they calmed my nerves and made me feel comfortable that our dog was in good hands.
WofA reassures us that we can always reach out to them with questions, and that they are there to help. Scheduling appointments via phone is painless, and they give call backs the day after the appointment to check whether things are going fine. We have been happy with the services here and are glad to have you in the neighborhood!

I’m hoping to speak to the Office Manager soon about my feedback, but my recent issue resulted from an improperly performed declawing procedure at this facility.
From consulting with other vets, it seems a fragment of the nail bed was left in my cat’s paw and now the nail has grown back, deformed, and with a bleeding, puss-​filled infection.
I didn’t trust to take my cat back to this vet and called around, which led me to the decision to go to Society Hill Veterinary Hospital.
A couple things stand out from my original experience at this location:
1) It was very dark and small so the atmosphere did not remind me of a medical facility
2) When my cat came home from his surgery, he was not sent home with any pain meds and so we had some issues the first few days. I’ve been advised by my new vet at Society Hill, that a pain patch will help the cat with discomfort for up to 7 days. This was not even discussed as an option at World of Animals.
3) A routine follow-​up appointment was not scheduled and I actually ended up bringing my cat back in a few days later for post-​surgical concerns. Whereas, my new vet is including a follow-​up appointment with their surgical fees and this is a routine procedure for post-​op care.
4) Finally, as I mentioned earlier, the botched declawing procedure is not satisfactory because now my cat has to undergo two more procedures for a total of 3, instead of one. My poor cat is definitely in pain and is depressed because of the infection he has developed in his body and the pain of the open wound in his paw.
I have recently become more educated on the benefits of the laser technique for declaws because it promotes faster healing and less pain. World of Animals does not perform this technique so I had to search around to find a vet and I found Society Hill.
I’m hoping World of Animals will be able to provide monetary compensation for this incorrectly performed procedure. I’m now having to pay for the surgery all over again, in addition to the wound care and treatments necessary to fight the infection and the injured paw.
I hope my kitty feels better soon :-(

I was really hesitant to take my dog here because of some of the reviews, and only really came to them because the highest recommended vets were booked for weeks, but I have been so pleasantly surprised with my experience here.
I started taking my Pug here a couple of weeks ago for a series of issues that she has been having. Everyone from the front is always so friendly, informative, helpful and accommodating. The assistants are kind, educated, and a pleasure to deal with. Dr Cotter is so compassionate, knowledgeable and thorough. One thing I like is that she has never treated me like I didn’t know what I was saying. She explains to me her thinking, and involves me in the decision making.
I really have had a great experience here. Yes, visits can be pricey, but I have yet to find a vet that isn’t. The place is small and definitely could use a bit of an aesthetic makeover, but I have been to so many places that are perfectly polished, but give sub-​par care. I was also really impressed by the follow-​up check-​in calls. Granted, most vets will do that, but when they do, it typically seems like it is out of obligation. These follow-​ups come from assistants who actually want to be sure you don’t have questions or issues, and resolve the ones that you do. I really very highly recommend this place, and I am, admittedly, a bit of a helicopter parent.

Apparently a LOT of people feel the same way I do about Dr. Dallago… he is the GREATEST doctor I have ever met… I got to WOA in Mayfair, I happened upon here because I needed a second opinion on my Felix’s ears, and we actually got good results, and he (Felix) was finally treated correctly for this reoccurring problem. I love that the doctor takes the time to actually TALK to you, and not talk AT you. I don’t mind the prices, because I feel I am getting TOP QUALITY care for my boys.

NEW (7÷31÷15): tuesday, my pup got sick. no interest in eating, vomiting and less energy than usual. his stool was pretty solid until thursday evening… then the diarrhea started and lasted all night. i called out of work and made an appointment at 1130am. got there about 15 min early, no problem. checked in, got some more quarters to fill the parking meter to an hour and walked back. coltrane and i basically sat and waited an hour to be seen. my patience was running low because i was already stressed out about the visit (sitting at the vet’s office with a squirmy, sick dog is not my idea of a fun time) and added now was the thoughts of a parking ticket. the vet techs are very nice but there were 4 vet techs and only one vet. why? well, i took coltrane into the room and asked them to start while i go run to look for quarters and refill the meter. dr. dellago was nice enough to give me some extra quarters to buy myself another half an hour. sigh… well despite all the stress, i still have to give this place 5 stars for the level of friendliness of the staff and how amazing dr. dellago is with my picky, anxiety-​filled pup. he is seriously amazing!
OLDER: ok, how can anybody NOT like this place?! yah… parking kinda sucks here but that’s because it’s rittenhouse… i ended up parking about a block away and coltrane and i walked around. it helped calm him down a little before the visit anyways.
well, the poor pup knew where we were as soon as we walked in. he was shaky and anxious but the wait wasn’t too bad. both of the vet techs were really nice and friendly. dr. dallago was SO incredibly nice. you can tell he really loves animals. coltrane isn’t the friendliest of pups around strangers, esp with ones who like to poke and prod him but dr. dallago was so good at handling him. i am very impressed and i will def be taking coltrane back for all his animal needs.

So I got a dog, and I live 5 minutes from here. Of course this is the first place we went. All the employees here are very nice and accommodating and all love my pup. The main vet I always see is very friendly and you can tell he really loves working with animals. Only thing that knocks them down a peg is that they are always solid. For schlubs like me who work til 5 its tough getting in there after work (I had to make an evening appointment 4 days in advance, luckily it was nothing serious). But that’s not entirely their fault. I will continue to come here over and over again.

My dog was attacked at a dog park and tore up bad. They turned me away. Wouldn’t even take a look at my dog. These people are awful and don’t care about animals.

I have been taking my dog here for 3 years. My dog baci is a beagle/​bully mix who was rescued from unfortunate circumstances. Her quality of life has greatly improved under the guidance of WOA. Dr dellago helped put her on meds to control her anxiety and now that she has disc problems he is working with us on pain management.
I’ve also taken one pregnant stray cat and subsequently her 6 babies who were born with viral herpes infections, my friend’s cat who was sick, and my two cats who are always pretty fine.
All in all — the many many times I’ve walked through the door, I’ve only had overwhelmingly positive, amazing, experiences.
I have to also comment on pricing. This place is competitive with prices and the staff are extremely cost conscience. I feel that they do everything in a cost effective way — but also have the patient’s interest as their number one priority.

I have a dalmatian Gryffin and he LOVES World of Animals. Particularly Dr. Delago. This is a vast difference from my dalmatian growing up who would poop all over the vet during the exam. Gryff drags me to the vet and is really excited to see everyone when he walks in. I wouldn’t trust anyone more with my dog than Dr. Delago.
I think the best part about World of Animals is how accommodating they are to dogs when they are in need. Gryff unfortunately came up with worms one day, I dropped off a sample to confirm and had medications in my hand within an hour. Always a great in and out experience. Thank you for the great care that you provide to my dog!

I adopted my first dog 2 weeks ago and made an appointment for last week. They were very accomodating and friendly. The 1^st appt I made I was actually going to be late to so I called them ³⁰⁄₄₅ min and moved it to the next monday.
Right they they are running a special where new clients get a free nail clipping and a digestive system check (you give them a stool sample and they come back with test results by the next day).
Dr. Kameneva was super friendly, very gentle, and has amazing bedside manner and Kenley loved her. They made sure to answer all my questions and since I was a new dog owner I had quite a few. They even called me a couple days after to check up on her. Overall amazing service and care! If you’re thinking about getting a vet I would really encourage you to pick this one!
