Weckerly’s Ice Cream

I’ve contemplated a time or two of becoming Vegan but then I come across places like this that makes me realize I don’t have the will power. Maybe in my next life I’ll give Veganism a try, but then again I’ll only have a chance if Weckerlys doesn’t exist in that lifetime…

Weckerly’s ice cream is my dream come true. I love their ever changing ice cream sandwich selections. The cookie are always deliciously chewy and the ice cream is so creamy. I always see them at events and festivals around Philly, as well as their normal freezer at green line near clark park, and look forward to see what new flavors they have.

I like really dealing with Small businesses And Weckerly’s Ice Cream Is a perfect example of a small Family Businesses putting there all in to it. We where given a sample of there Corn Carmel salted Ice Cream Sandwich and me and my brother where really amazed at how good it was it literally was addictive i wanted another one on the spot… Lol but i will be making an order Very Soon.

Have tried their ice creams and ice cream sandwiches when then set up shop at the Philadelphia Navy Yard during marker week and company events. Had the Lemon Verbena Blackberry ice cream sandwich yesterday during an outdoor company event. Heavenly treat on a hot and steamy summer day!

So funny story, my friend and I had to try the ice cream that was awarded Best of Philadelphia! We drove to the Worth St address, Global Dyes, which is Haha NOT their ice cream shop, it is in fact their factory, oops. But the owner was so kind and welcoming, taking time out of his day to show us around, giving an unofficial tour of the unbelievable process they go through to make the delicious and perfect ice cream they create. And we were able to buy the ice cream sandwiches we were dreaming about! The husband and wife behind Weckerly’s ice cream are such great people with a great dedication to fresh, authentic, out of the world ice cream. Everyone seek out Weckerly’s ice cream! Hopefully the Best of Philadelphia for years to come!

Absolutely delicious! Fresh and phenomenal ice cream!!! Our guests raved about the ice cream at my child’s birthday party. Can’t imagine there’s much better ice cream around.

What an absolute sweet treat it was to discover such amazing chilly treasures in Philly! Local crème sourced from the rolling hills of Birchrunville pays off with a mouth full of yum!

In the battle royal of which type of ice cream is the best — Philadelphia style, French style, or Gelato — Weckerly’s has started to produce a super brand of French style ice cream (of course that means with eggs in contrast to the creamy Philly style). It is always sold where it is made on the premises at the Green Line Café in the University City neighborhood of Philadelphia. It’s also available at other locations — check their website.
This ice cream is delicious! Really! I had the Rhubarb Buttermilk flavor and it is truly one of the best ice cream flavors that I have ever tasted. And it is cool that this great new ice cream is associated with The Green Line Café. Is there a more charming café in Philadelphia than the Green Line at 43^rd and Baltimore? And it just got better with the addition of Weckerly’s!

Weckerly’s makes small-​batch, scratch-​made, French-​style (custard base) ice cream using local eggs, dairy and produce; as well as ethically sourced chocolate and vanilla. They make/​sell the ice cream at the Green Line Café on Baltimore Avenue (West Philadelphia). They also sell the ice cream at pop-​ups/​farmers markets/​night-​markets (check their Facebook page). You can purchase cup or pints from them. They also make Sorbet and ice cream sandwiches.
We had first tried their ice cream when we stopped-​in the Revolution Coffee Roasters Café in Collingswood, NJ (they were giving out free samples of coffee ice cream that was made with Revolution’s coffee). Yesterday, we tried the ice cream at the Collingswood Farmers Market. My wife had a fantastic ice cream sandwich (Black and White flavor). The chocolate cookie cake shell was delicous and so was the ice cream! My wife said it was one of the best sandwiches she had in a long time. I had a cup of the Rhubarb Buttermilk, it was really good. The bits of Rhubarb had a nice tartness that worked in perfect harmony with the richness/​sweetness of the ice cream.
They have flavors such as Pumpkin Butter Bourbon, Rosemary Chocolate, Vanilla, Cajeta Caramel Swirl, etc. Here is a list of their Perennial, Seasonal, Summer and Autumn/​Winter flavors
Suggestion: It would be nice to include one of those mini wooden/​plastic ice cream spoons in the bag… otherwise, one does not have a way to eat it while walking around the Farmers Market. Luckily, we had decided to take ours home in the ice cooler we had brought to the market.

Usually sold in West Philly’s Green Line Café. But every once in a while, life smiles on you and Weckerly’s brings their magic little ice cream cart right to you. In my case it was the West Oak Lane Night Market, but they can also be found at Farmers’ Markets like N3rd and Clark Park.
The Black and White Ice Cream Sandwich on a decadent chocolate chip cookie slab made with fair trade organic vanilla and chocolate? My only piece of advice is, «BUY THREE! BUY THREE!»
