This review pertains only to the rehab services. They were awful. Medical: My wife had a knee replacement at Pennsylvania Hospital and was discharged to the Watermark on a Monday, arriving at 4:30 pm. There was no physical therapist available to do an evaluation, so my wife was not allowed a walker, depending on a wheelchair to get to the bathroom. No medical review was done to check her for bedsores, look at the dressing, etc. There was nobody available to approve her already-prescribed medications, so they had to call a doctor. It took until 10:30 for them to reach the on-call doctor, by which time my wife’s pain was very severe. And even then they did not have two of the key pain meds she needed. By the next morning her pain was unbearable, her leg was swollen, and she was running a fever. She was sent back to Pennsylvania Hospital ER for IV pain treatment, and we vowed never to return to Watermark. Housekeeping: There was trash in the drawers from the prior occupant. The small refrigerator on top of a dresser had stopped working, and there was a flood of water coming out of it. Despite at least 3 requests nobody came to look at it or mop up the water. It took 3 requests to get an extra blanket. Food: Inedible. And they ignored the menu requests my wife made for breakfast. I was with my wife while all this was happening, and this review is based on notes made contemporaneously.

This place almost killed my Mom! Seriously, they really do not know medicine and they did not know her allergies and gave her Penicillin(Amoxicillin) and the LPN as RNs are too expensive I was told was arguing with me that she is allergic to Penicillin and Amoxicillin is different. The nurses then kept telling me that her rash and trouble breathing were her Asthma and obviously she was going into anaphylaxis We contacted the state to formally complain and then said that the facility was misinformed about her allergy from the hospital. The funny part of this was that for three days they kept trying to sell her a condo there… gotta love capitalism. Would avoid this at all costs. This occurred about a year ago but it was on my mind today.

I have a good friend in the alzheimer’s unit. He has had good care for his stay of 4 months. On Mother’s Day, 2015, I pulled alongside the building to unload a box and a mirror. My car was an old SUV I use of landlord work in tough neighborhoods. I’m an old white guy, and I was dressed to do landlord work. The parking spot was for handicap parking, and all I needed to do was to take out a box and mirror and place it against a wall. Then find a street legal parking space. The woman from security came over to me at the back of my car and started shouting I couldn’t park there. Repeating herself, then a very big man walked over, carrying a blaring 2 way radio. Telling me I couldn’t park there. Asking if I could unload my 2 items, all I had was this woman in security uniform telling me I couldn’t park there. Its very disrespectful to yell at a person who is standing 3 feet from you. And a simple yes or no would have been sufficient. I belive if I had been driving a series 6BMW and wearing a business suit the conversation would have been much different. God only knows what would have happened if I were a person-of-color wearing a hoodie. Taser and a call to the police department? This behavior is much different than what I have experienced inside the Watermark facility.
