Michael W.

Business Owner

Michael grew up in the veterinary industry. «The veterinary industry is in my blood. My first memories as a child are going to my dad’s animal hospital in Orinda, CA to help feed the dogs.» He is thrilled to be working side by side with his father and can’t believe after all of these years he finds himself with this opportunity. «They say the apple never falls far from the tree, but sometimes it does roll away a little.» He comes to the practice after spending the last year working as a Practice Liaison with My Veterinary Career, a company dedicated to helping recruit and staff veterinary hospitals nationwide.

Prior to his career in recruitment, Michael was owner and operator of Rocky Mountain Carriage Company located in Vail, CO. He is the proud father of two wonderful little boys, Riley and Ziggy, who might be seen working the front desk or playing with the animals. Along with spending time with his family, Mike enjoys karaōke (rumor is he does an amazing Neil Diamond impersonation)

First vet experience and this one left an impression! The staff is very homely and friendly made my pet and I feel a fair level of comfort. I will be returning. The pricing seems a bit high but I’m guessing all vets are. I would definitely recommend if this is nearby your neighborhood of not you will feel a little out of place but once you’re inside that all goes away!

Fantastic staff. Professional, courteous, competent. They’ve seen my pet for an emergency twice even though they’re not an emergency center. The communication is thorough and proactive. When my pet stayed overnight, I received detailed daily updates by phone.

I have a new kitten & the staff has been fabulous with him. We found him on the street .i was a little Leary about keeping him. After I had called PAWs they said if I brought him in that they were overrun with kitten they would probably put him down. I called the Pet health Center & got an appointment first thing the next morning but not without instructions because he was only about 3 weeks & he had fleas. I had him checked out. Blood work, shots, ect. Everything was fine with him. They were very friendly & attentive. They gave us advice great advice since I do have an 80lb dog & didn’t want him to catch fleas & I was concerned about how well they would get along. The price was very reasonable especially since I had to bring him back close to every 2 weeks because he had open scabs on his paws that was making it hard for him to walk on them. I am happy to say that my Ringo is doing just great now.

Absolutely amazing and knowledgable staff from the moment you walk in you feel welcomed from the girls at the front desk to both amazing pet techs to the vet. Everyone was more than friendly. Great to have someplace close by for my Minnie!

Not the same place it was… new people took over, sure they act nice, they want your business, I had a balance from the previous people who were they and they harrass me like crazy. they have bill collectors calling. put it into your credit and I don’t even owe these people money! They don’t even treat their staff nice… WATCH OUT… go to PAWS !

So glad to have found the Pet Health Center! The staff there are really some of the kindest animal-​loving human beings I’ve ever met, and their effect on my timid elderly kitty was amazing. Dr. Gellen performed a thoughtful and extremely detailed examination specifically tailored to older cats. Far from freaking out as she normally would in an unfamiliar, stressful environment, she was purring so loudly that he couldn’t even hear her heartbeat with his stethoscope.
Their services are definitely pricier than PAWS or another low-​cost clinic but for anything more than routine de-​worming and stuff like that, I think it’s worth the extra money for the peace of mind. I’m happy to know exactly what’s up with my old gal’s health and what her specific needs are (Dr. Gellen called me in less than 24 hours to give me her test results and detailed recommendations, and urged me to call back with any questions). They did tack a few extras onto the bill that made it a bit alarming at first glance, but I told the nurse that I didn’t feel the need to purchase those things at the time and she took them right off. They also offer payment plans and make the process very easy.
As if I wasn’t completely sold on the place already, as I was leaving, the one receptionist that I’d literally had no interaction with whatsoever (the other one had made my appointment, checked me in, taken my payment etc) asked about my kitty *by name* and inquired how her visit had gone. These people are genuine sweethearts and great at what they do. Can’t recommend them enough!

I was very impressed with this office. They were able to see me the day I requested my appointment at a time that fit my schedule, everyone in the office was incredibly sweet, and it was way more affordable than I expected. If you live in the area, this should be your choice for a veterinarian.

This place is a rip off. Took my dog there for tooth extraction. They examined her and gave me a written estimate. For best case/​worst case. The bill came out to 150. Over worst case. Call to complain because my wife was there not me. And told them i was only going to pay their worst case bill. The lady on the phone told me they would send the dog home without any pain medication. Are you kidding me. This is a complete rip off.

The office staff is very friendly, informative and welcoming. The professional staff who cared for my dog were very compassionate and really seemed to care about both myself and dog. I passed many veterinary hospitals and drove 15 miles to pet health center because I knew this is where I wanted my dog to receive care. Thank you!

My dog Layla has a bit of a daredevil side. Naturally, she likes to try to escape the back yard. One time when she was successful, a good Samaritan found her, injured and clearly in pain, and he took her to his own vet, Philly Pet Health Center. Layla received top quality care from the moment she arrived at the office. The staff checked her microchip, and were thankfully able to reach me that way. As soon as I got there, they took the time to explain to me the extent of her injuries and what would be required to bring her back to health. Pricing is reasonable and they were even willing to work with me to help minimize costs! The doctors and techs are all extremely friendly and knowledgeable, which will keep us coming back to this office for all of Layla’s veterinary needs! Thanks PPHC staff!

Very friendly and responsive folks. They are very conscious of keeping your budget under control and they seem to really care. The owner called me twice to follow up with my cat after surgery. I’ve been to several vets. So far this is my favorite.
