The Giving Tree Daycare+ Preschool

We toured the facility in August 2013, and were impressed with it. We let them know we would need a spot in the infant room in May 2014, and were encouraged to submit our application and fee, which we did immediately. The check was cashed right away, and I heard nothing further. In December I called to check in, and was told we may have to wait until August or September for a spot in the infant room. No one had bothered to call to let me know this was the case. After that, I called periodically to check in and each time was told a that my spot would be available at a later date. Finally, in May 2014 (the month for which we had originally requested a spot for our daughter), we received a generic email stating that all spots in the infant room would be filled for the next YEAR, and that if we wanted to remain on the waiting list, we would need to resubmit the information we already provided on the original application form. I understand that it’s not possible to predict available space in the future with absolute certainty, but to miscalculate availability by an entire year is just plain irresponsible. The Giving Tree accepted my (and many other families’) application fees for a spot that they either knew didn’t exist (which is fraudulent) or grossly miscalculated its availability (which is negligent), and then had the nerve to ask us to basically re-​apply if we wanted to remain on the waiting list. I requested a refund of my application fee at this point and was told it was non-​refundable. I am very disappointed with the way this was handled, and think this is very bad business on their part.
