for a company that is local and does more drops then the average 3 to 4 seasonal drops they do a great job of making anyone feel like part of anything they have going on! Art shows, parties, and an all around lifestyle that is ready an available to anyone who shows interest and if there shirts are 34 a piece then anyone who owns a freshmeltwater shirt most likely owes them an additional 15!

There’s something disturbingly inauthentic about a place that sells counter-​culture-​esque goods in a manner that inherently conflicts with the various anti-«The Man» philosophies that these «edgy» items claim to support.
On one end of this spectrum of hypocrisy are the mall-​ified, mass-​market-​directed establishments like Hot Topic and Spencer’s. But on the other, high-​end side of that spectrum, the side frequented by those with fatter wallets and a desire for an exclusive, boutique-​like experience, there are places like Fresh Water Melt. This is NOT a positive attribute, in my book, and in its way MORE revolting than Hot Topic’s version of callous consumerism.
At Fresh Water Melt, t-​shirts that sport «underground» themed messages are sold in a Lexington Avenue-​like atmosphere, with far more visible floor space than rack space, and with those high price points to match.
Basically I’m saying this: $ 34 to buy a t-​shirt whose message espouses «rebellion against the system» in some form or other??? Does anyone else see the built-​in hypocrisy?
