Very nice place with a good selection. Staff do not usually ask you if you need help, but are happy to help if you ask.
The only issue I have run into is that their 6-​packs of PBR are always VERY filthy on the top, so you need to wash the cans before drinking them!

I love the new (er) location of The Bottle Shop. This is a great place for a 6-​pack, but now it’s also even better to grab a beer on tap or from the fridge. They have games, or you can bring your own. You can also bring in your own food if you like. It’s generally pretty chill (it is a bottle shop after all, most people are getting to-​go) so it’s nice to spend an evening here playing games and not at the loud bar scene.

I’m a big fan of this place. The hours are great, the prices are reasonable, they carry rotating half cases, includes happy hour specials on draught, and they’ll stock something you want if they don’t have it.
The new location is great, but it feels a little smaller. But who the hell cares? You’re not having a dinner party there. Get your beer, go home, get drunk. That’s what this place is about. They also sell light snacks and some cigarettes if you’re so inclined.

Excellent beer selection and some cool seating in the back with board games. There is always a decent (but fresh) tapped beer selection. I definitely go out of my way to make sure to get here at least once a month because they do rotate out the mix’n’match selection often.

Dear Bottle Shop,
We love you and your new, beautiful location! You offer SUCH great variety for SUCH reasonable prices – you give a picky girl like me (read: usual beer hater) the opportunity to test drive any label I want. It’s a dream come true! On top of that, you LITERALLY fulfilled my suggestion request within ONE WEEK! Normally an action such as this would have us doing back flips. BACK FLIPS!
Unfortunately, I have to dock stars because the past 3 times I’ve gone in there NO ONE has offered to assist me – when we’ve clearly needed it. I’m sure your staff is super knowledgeable, but it’s a shame to not share that with your loyal customers – especially when they are doing their best to appear desperate for your attention. A simple «can I help you find something» could really go a long way (as in straight from my wallet to your cash register!)

I checked out the new location a few weekends ago. It is much more impressive décor wise. A few high tops by the big front windows (that open on nice days) and a few bar stools mean that you can saddle up to the bar and spend some time chatting with the employee behind the register while you sip on one of their draft offerings. Employees I have encountered at the Bottle Shop are always super knowledgeable and usually have great recommendations. The beers are sorted by region of production, and you can make your own six pack however you’d like. It seems to me that the beer selection is not as expansive as, say, the Corner Foodery, but there is always plenty of variety and a new (to me) beer on offer. The Bottle Shop is a bit pricey (even for a bottle shop in Philadelphia), but is my go-​to when I want to try some new things.

It’s a nice place to get beer and sit and have a drink but hard when you more then just one owner do to a constant miscommunication I no longer will give reviews about the Bottle shop. It’s a great place for take out and friendly staff. My eternal regards and respect to Gena, Tara, Mark, Alex (even though we still don’t really know each other yet), Damon and last but not least Michelle. Finally made it out here to check things out. I have to admit that I was a little let down that prices weren’t noticeably lower than places in Center City. That said, given the Philadelphia area mark up and the beer situation in Pennsylvania, they were not horrendous.
Selection is good, though to be honest, I think some places in Center City may be about as good (Monde Market, Food and Friends, even you, Corner Foodery).
The staff seemed friendly and I like the idea of having tables where you can just chill out.

The best! Amazing selection, always rotating. Sit, drink, and play a game or grab a six pack and go. All the fun parts of going to a bar, without any of the bulls*t of going to a bar.

A rainy day in Philly, visiting family. My brother and I hit this place twice within two hours. It was a beautiful place filled with liquid happiness, Cute hipster chick behind the counter and knowledgeable hipster guys talking about beer. «My beard… my tattoos… my rumpled flannel shirt and super cool wrist bands…»
I hate hipsters but love beer. If you want to poison your mind with tasty beer, go here.

A great little bottle shop with a few tables to hangout. They always have a few beers that are hard to find and there’s a discount on six pack mix and match. What’s not to love about this place!!!

I’d like to meet the person who doesn’t like the Bottle Shop. I really feel like it’s impossible! I’ve been to basically every shop similar in different parts of the city, and the Bottle Shop wins hands down.
The staff is INCREDIBLY kind, knowledgeable and helpful. I am pretty familiar with beer, but when I asked for a chocolate stout, the woman was quick to come up to the case and point out a few of her favorites. I’ve also seen them helping people who are totally clueless with beer. They are patient and helpful. Sometimes you find at places like this people are «beer snobs.» This is not one of those places.
Should you be one of those people who proclaims that they «don’t like» beer, you may just be taking that back. There’s such a large selection and truly something for every type of drinker. If you’re unsure don’t hesitate to ask.
The plus side for beer fans, is that you can make your own 6 pack. A lot of people just come in for that and head out. I actually enjoy staying and having a beer or two. They’ll provide you with a glass and you can sit wherever you like and relax. I’ve been in there where a group of people are playing board games. It’s a very «do your own thing» environment. South Philly has a TON of BYO’s and this would be the perfect place to stop.
A huge plus side for me that my dog gets to hang out with me inside, because they don’t serve food. That’s always a selling point for me!

Love this quaint little beer store/​hangout. It’s such a great idea… Beer for sale by the bottle (just like at the beer store), but with tables for socializing. Also, there’s a tasty little array of snacks — all seem to be vegan, and non-​alcoholic beverages.
Went here for beer and board games with the Unilocal Elite crowd. It was a fun time. Plus, I even tried a new cider that I loved, thanks to the advice of a helpful employee. I told her that I love ciders, but not too sweet, and she pointed out a variety of choices. Overall, the staff seems incredibly friendly and helpful.
If they ever decide to expand, it would be nice to see a wider variety of snack options. Either way, this is a nice local haunt.

I was debating between 4 and 5 stars and then realized… Duh. This place is awesome with craft beer selections galore!
Well, that kinda sucks too because you can end up standing there as the minutes tick by, staring at and sidestepping the large wall cooler while trying to make a decision… or six. Yep, you can build and buy six-​packs to go or just grab a single bottle, lounge in a chair and enjoy.
Prices are rounded off to the nearest half-​dollar, leading to a clean dollar total and avoiding those pesky pennies for your transaction (s). No cash? No card? No problem. They also take LevelUp, so pull out your cell phone and scan away.
Want to stay awhile, hang out and play some board games at one of their tables? Bottle Shop got ya covered there too. Our Unilocal Mob (YOB) gathered around and enjoyed a friendly game of Apples to Apples before eventually continuing on our Saturday crawl. A fun time and a great stop along E Passyunk.

I lucked out and asked our server at Stateside about the local beer places in the East Passyunk area. I was looking for some Russian River beer and I was able to make my own 6 pack of pricey yet hard to find Russian River beers at the Bottle Shop on this evening.
They have an extensive beer fridge selection from local bottles to ones from all over the world. They do offer a few brews on tap and you can open bottles there to drink, but mostly a carry out bottle shop.
The Bottle Shop is a cool hangout in a cool neighborhood.

There is no way I’m giving The Bottle Shop anything but 5 stars – unless there were more stars to give.
It’s simple, really; I love beer, and The Bottle Shop is one of the reasons for that. You walk in, grab a little 6-​pack holder (or 4-​pack) and dive into a sea of awesomeness. And in my case, indecisiveness.
Other than the fact that they have an insane selection of bottled beers (W/​E Coast, Local, International, Seasonal, etc.), the events that take place at The Bottle Shop are pretty sweet. For instance, if you’re a The Walking Dead fan, during the screening of the show they have offers that include all these cool beers that have ‘zombies’ and ‘dead’ in their name. They also have pretty tasty beers on draft which are super inexpensive; $ 3 for a pint of some delicious, delicious stout.
The staff has always been incredibly nice! They are always being helpful and keeping a chill atmosphere at the store; the other day a customer asked them if they could get delivery to The Bottle Shop and the person working there was completely fine with it. I realized people go there, eat food, play board/​card games, watch TV, drink beers, and whatever else there is to just have fun.
Love this place!

Hello Bottle Shop! I’m so glad I know this place exists now.
They have a huge selection and beers from all over the place: local, East coast, Midwest, West coast, and international. Most of the bottles are in the $ 2-​$ 3 range. I don’t think I’ve seen a beer here over $ 5. They usually have a beer on tap up front as well.
Snacks are available, but you’re welcome to bring in pizza or takeout, grab a table, and eat and drink as much as you want. At the end of the night, you take your bottles up and they ring you up. They even have board games to keep you entertained. What’s not to love?
If you’re bar hopping in South Philly or just want to mix and match a six pack, definitely stop by. They close at 11pm on Saturdays though, so don’t wait till the end of the night to get here.

This is the type of city place that when I eventually move to the suburbs (and pop out some cherubs and buy a mini van and get a mom hairdo), I will totally and completely miss. How could I not miss a store within walking distance of my home that sells delicious and unique beers by the bottle?
The Bottle Shop is in a great location on Passyunk, has a very decent selection of beers, and often holds interesting events such as the Dessert Beer Takeover (crème brûlée beer anyone?) this coming weekend. In terms of pricing, they seem to be pretty consistent with other six-​pack stores in the city. But honestly, if there is a good beer that I really want to try, I’m not going to look at the price.
If you are into beer and you like buying six-​packs rather than investing on a whole case of a beer you may or may not be down with, definitely check out The Bottle Shop.
