History

Established in 2014.

The name Sulimay has been synonymous with great hair in Philadelphia for years. It all began in 1965 when Jim Sulimay Sr. opened a one-​chair barbershop in the Fairmount section of the city soon after leaving the military. The business steadily grew into a popular family owned salon that is now celebrating the grand opening of a second location on Manayunk’s famed Main Street.

Here at Sulimay’s Studio on Main we provide you with a style that looks great and is easy to manage. We love helping our clients look great!

On paper it will say that Tara Sulimay Acosta has been an industry professional for 15 years, but make no mistake, she grew up in the salon! The Sulimay family has offered a full range of hair services for over 50 years. Tara made a unique mark on the family business, using her vision and creativity to transform Sulimay’s Hair Salon in Fairmount into an extremely popular full service salon. By treating her profession as a passion, Tara has become one of the more sought after stylists in her area.

Tara has a life-​time of experience and long list of 5 star online ratings from satisfied customers. She is a graduate of the Jean Madeline Aveda Institute with recent certifications in Vidal Sassoon Academy, Rejuvenol Keratin Treatment and Brazilian Blowout.

In 2014, Tara decided to branch out to open Sulimay’s Studio on Main. Tara has been making men and women look great since she was a teen. Come test her eye to design your perfect look by visiting her new location at 4233 Main Street!
