Stay Fly Muay Thai

I dropped in for a class (actually captain’s practice) while coming through town. Everyone was super friendly, the gym was spacious and CLEAN (more than I can say for so many other gyms I’ve visited), and while the average skill level was pretty high, the more experienced members often took time out of their own workout to help newer members.
I’ll definitely come back next time I am in Philly.

Coach Justin and the rest of the coaches and members are the main reason why I love training here. Not only Justin is the welterweight champion but the rest of the fighters have a winning record. They will help you develop the Muay Thai skills you need to help you get ready for your next competition fight or self defense. The vibe that everyone gives out here makes training so fun that Stay Fly had become my sanctuary when I have a bad day.

I have attended a couple of classes recently through ClassPass at Stay Fly, and I have REALLY enjoyed them!
Some thoughts:
1. Even if you are a brand new beginner, still go! Check it out! Justin will work with you to learn the basic kicks and punches. He’s patient and helpful! Everyone else is also super friendly. It doesn’t matter if you are brand new!
2. Basic class format: Jump Rope intervals with crunches and pushups, followed by shadow boxing (Justin will work with you if you are brand new, but after the first class or two — he will encourage you to jump right in!). Then, you partner up and using gloves/​pads, and you practice specific combos of punches and kicks. Certain classes have a different focus/​skill, which is a really helpful way to continue learning.
3. It’s a great workout! At the beginning, you won’t get super sweaty or anything, because you are just learning everything — but you can REALLY feel it after working on it for awhile!

I’m visiting Philly and decided to stop in for Muay Thai class with Justin. Legit Muay Thai instruction and welcoming team.
The gym is large, plenty of mat space, lounge, showers. The gym is in the Dollar General building. You may have to enter through the back to find the gym. Make sure you don’t make the same mistake I did by walking around aimlessly. I almost couldn’t find it.

Stay Fly Muay Thai is a great place to be for anyone who is looking to fight and gain experience, learn self defense, or even just to get in shape. The workouts are super fun and the vibe is awesome! The people who train here are so friendly and welcoming to everyone! Also, the space is so big and beautiful. I definitely recommend it to anyone! Come in to train with the best people and punch and kick stuff soon!!!

Stay Fly Muay Thai is a great gym for anyone who is interested in muay thai. It’s a great group and a positive environment for people of all experience levels.
I’m a fighter (or «nak muay» in Thai) at SFMT preparing for my first muay thai bout in just a few weeks. I bounced around different muay thai and mma gyms in Philly but have now landed here permanently. The level of instruction is world class. As a student here I get plenty of attention and great sparring. I’m super confident in my training going into this fight.
That being said, there are all kinds of people here– professional muay thai fighters and mma fighters, top amateurs and those who train just to practice the art, curious newbies and people just looking for a fun way to lose weight and be fit. All of us are here to make ourselves a little bit better in some way one day at a time. While we do practice serious muay thai I really think it’s important for anyone new to the sport to know that there is no intimidation or macho crap here. As a group we’re an odd mix of friendly weirdos so feel free to stop in and say hi at any time!
