ShopRite of Knorr Street

Shop Rite is conveniently located less than a 5 minute drive from my house, which is honestly, the only reason why I shop there. The produce is average; it’s not the freshest, but they offer what I need. The Shop Rite brand meat isn’t fresh, so go for the reputable brands, such as Coleman or Wellshire. I mostly get their canned and boxed goods, since their meat & seafood isn’t very fresh.
The parking lot is horrendous. It’s tight and on busy days, people make their own parking spots by parking wherever they want. The parking lot is small, so there’s no «return cart» spots, but there are staff members at times that will offer to help bring groceries to your car, so you don’t have to make multiple trips.
It can get overly crowded in the evenings on the weekdays, and during the day on the weekends. I recommend going during the day on weekdays, and late evenings on the weekends to avoid human traffic. Also avoid 1^st of the month AKA «welfare day.» IT GETS CRAZY. People shop like there’s an apocalypse.

The meat… DON’T BUY THE MEAT!!! Clearly bad. I learned a valuable $ 50 lesson… listen to your gut. I really can’t believe no one has sued them yet. If you must go here, canned and boxed foods only and check the date. I wouldn’t trust anything else.

Well I can’t say much about parking because I’m smart enough to leave my car parked home, take a shopping cart, take food with me I need immediately and just wait on the delivery boy. I live nearby so its just asinine and pointless to drive my car here and deal with Hell’s Parking. Secondly my thoughts on the cashiers are ok. I mean they’re young and its possibly their first job. So I can’t fault them too much for not greeting the customers with smiles and eagerness to help. But I do have a bit of confusion about this particular cashier… Kyle. One early afternoon I came and spent over 220.00 (in cash) for groceries. There was a patron in front of me who had just as much as I did and here he bags her items with brown bag and plastic bag without question. I said to myself now that’s the proper and efficient way to bag groceries. Here comes my turn to checkout… He bags my groceries with only the plastic bags. I didn’t notice that until he was on my fourth bag. I was busy counting up my money. I told him «uh I would like my groceries in the brown paper bag and plastic bags to. «He said «oh ok I didn’t know «. I wanted to say well you didn’t know the patron before me wanted paper bags but you just immediately bagged her items up with the whole enchilada! But I’m a peaceful person so I didn’t say anything. I even thanked him for helping me bag up the rest of my groceries. I mean here I’m sure she was driving or atleast had a ride outside. I’m quite sure he wasn’t that. slow where he couldn’t see obviously I wasn’t driving because I had a shopping cart of my own with me. Kyle? I must say this to you because as a steady customer I have patronized this particular Shoprite for a long time now. All I want you to do is treat all your customers… black and white the same. My money spends just like everyone else and I need that same kind of treatment you gave to that patron every time you have me in your checkout. If I don’t this will be taken to corporate and not another Unilocal review. Last but not least I just want to point out the bakery crew in the morning. Ok, I called one morning to ask if I may have an animated character they may not have in their book of designs on a customed made cake for my son’s birthday party featuring Sonic The Hedgehog. Immediately she says very abrupt and with attitude «We don’t do that design «. I said yes I’m aware you don’t. I visited the bakery site. So then I asked her could I download a picture for you to put on te cake? She told me we don’t do copies. I’m telling her well some of the designs you have aren’t original disney characters so why not? Abruptly we can’t use downloads. copies and put it on any cakes. Still didn’t make sense to me. So I said thanks anyway and hung up the phone… Should of hunged up a llongtime ago. Its ok I found a bakery who does downloads of pictures and my cake will be in the making Thursday. What a attitude on her. But most people get their customer jobs by lying about how well they execute customer service with friendliness, smiles and straight answers … Yeah right!

I actually wanted to give 0 star but since its nearby that’s why I gave it one. Where do I begin. I never done a review on a supermarket but I hate this supermarket so much for so many reasons that I had to write a review. First of all I love Shop rite I have nothing against Shoprite supermarkets. But what sucks about this Shop rite is the parking lot, its so small and congested and its always crowded. Its crowded outside and inside. Everytime I’m walking down the meat isle is like everyone is in the meat isle very frustrating. Just to get a pack of chicken you feel that you deserve a prize just cause you made it. The isle are too small and only one person is enough to block it. People are always in a bad mood anyone that you bump into. They don’t let you take the cart with you to the car by which I can’t stand. In some occasions I have my baby with me and the groceries and no staff to help carry the groceries (very, but very inconvenient and stressfull) I mean buying groceries is no fun and this place just doesn’t make it any easier. The staff some are nice and some are not so nice so it varies.
I been traveling a little bit down the road to Acme where its a little bit more pricey but I get no headaches and no stress. They actually let me take the cart with me! :)

Shoprite is always my first choice in supermarkets. But I really can not stand this store. I went here today to do my weekly shopping and almost got hit twice in the parking lot. The parking lot is so tight and hard to maneuver. And no one ever pays attention. And to keep them from losing carts they don’t let people take carts out to the parking lot which makes things a lot more difficult. One of the reasons why I usually avoid this store.
I needed to buy spinach and was really disappointed that there was not fresh spinach bunches. I had to buy a bag. I love super fresh produce and it seemed like the best I could get was tomatoes. Then I walk over to the meat section and while they had a great selection of pork, most people in my house only eat cow. And they are seriously lacking in variety of beef. I hate having to go to multiple stores if I don’t have to and I had to because of this.
I do endorse their bakery section. Everything is made fresh and it smells amazing all the time.

The good — prices are reasonable, and there’s some good stuff here that’s not available at all Shop Rites.
The bad — as many have said, the parking lot if headache-​inducing. Takes forever to find a spot, and it seems like every bad driver in the city is attracted to it.
Once inside, the place is almost always a zoo. There’s little room to negotiate your cart. and good luck trying to get near the deli counter. Seems like in nearly every aisle, there’s someone blocking it by parking their cart right in the middle. And, at the risk of sounding a little elitist — NOT my intention — the ignorance factor among patrons seems to be somewhat higher than other places. You’ll understand once you go there. Cashiers are all very nice.
Go there on a weekend at your own peril.

their parking lot is a nightmare but once you circle it like 70 times, once inside its worth it. it is pretty tight with a cart but the prices and quick lines make up for it. I’m a bargain shopper so I use store brands and shop rite brand is top notch, the store card helps you save more money as well, so if you want to stretch your dollar I recommend shopping here.

Shop Rite (no matter the location) is always my first choice for grocery stores. The prices are always very reasonable and the meats, seafood and produce are always very fresh. That’s pretty much where the positives stop for this location.
The first and most noticeable problem is the parking lot. The neighborhood outgrew this parking lot about 10 years ago, and on any given Saturday or Sunday you can find people just circling around waiting for a spot to open up. It causes a lot of chaos and the street parking is limited, so there aren’t many alternatives. Also, you can’t take the carts with you to your car, so there’s always a line of cars at the front of the store picking up their purchases, and I’m sure you can picture the pandemonium that ensues.
Inside, the building is way too small for everything that they carry. The aisles are small and cramped, making it impossible to even stop and spend any kind of reasonable time picking out meats without getting bumped from behind by an angry Mayfairite with a shopping cart. I try to go very late at night to avoid the anxiety of being rushed through the store.
The employees are, as a whole, extremely rude. Right before Thanksgiving, I was shopping for my turkey and couldn’t find the right size. I had earned a free turkey with previous purchases any size up to 21 lbs. Most of the turkeys I saw out were only 18 lbs, and I was cooking for a large group so wanted to get the biggest turkey I could find. I rang the bell at the meat department and waited in excess of 20 minutes. When I finally saw someone from the meat department walk by, I asked him to please check in the back and he refused, even after I told him how long I’d been waiting. He said he knew there were none back there. I finally was able to have one of the stock boys check for me and of course there were plenty of 21 lb. turkeys literally on the other side of the door. That was extremely frustrating.
I’ve also had a terrible time with this store’s seafood department. Their posted hours show the seafood department being open till 7PM on weekdays, yet I have been there several times after work, sometimes as early as 5PM and it is closed. This is a huge inconvenience for people (read:everyone) who do their food shopping after work. When I asked, the management told me that sometimes they close early if it’s slow. Are you kidding me? Of course it’s slow at 4PM. No one is out of work yet! That was the lamest excuse I’d ever heard of. Then, when I was trying to get a straight answer as far as what the «busier» days were when I could expect to buy seafood, I got nothing but attitude and eye rolls. Still no answer to my question. There is no way that it should be acceptable to close your seafood department three hours earlier than the posted hours on a regular basis. Paying customers should be able to purchase the items they need without playing a guessing game.
The cashiers, however, are usually very polite and efficient. Most of the time there is even someone there to bag my groceries as well. This place is a nightmare, but I come here mostly when I’m pressed for time because it’s the closest to my house.

they always seem to have in stock what i go there for, you cant ask any thing more from a super market

This is my neighborhood supermarket. I go here often and I like the prices and how friendly and seemingly happy the store associates are. I wish they had a better selection of fruits and also I wish the carts could come out to the car. I usually have my infant son with me also so the cart situation really is sucky. About 80% of the time one of the outside store associates will help me with bags which is very nice.

All supermarkets suck. There’s no two ways about that. But this one sucks a little less than the usualsupermarket. The prices are average, the selection pretty good, and the staff is very friendly.
The parking situation on the other hand needs some work. The parking lot is entirely too small to accommodate all of the shoppers here, and as a result you often either have to come back or find an illegal parking spot somewhere too close to a dumpster. As other Unilocalers have mentioned the carts can’t go into the parking lot so you are forced to abandon your goods to get your car and load up.

This is my shoprite… not by choice. The parking lot is a nightmare. There’s about forty spots… that’s it. Also, you can’t bring the cart to your car which is definitely a hassle. They have a sweet man outside ready to help you but he’s a lot older than me and I wouldnt feel right asking him. The prices are right and they have quite a selection but the parking is the big problem. And oh god, don’t go on the first of the month. Everyone with the welfare checks. Jesus, you’ll have a headache.

Unfortunately this is my neighborhood shoprite and I really like their prices. BUT the staff is truly unfriendly to minorities which leads me to travel to the Arimingo store. Plus parking is a nightmare and carts cannot leave the store. Get it together people it’s 2012.

This is a rather old store, and they have a ton of great employees. The Bakery Department hits you as soon as you walk in the store. The only thing I can say about the Bakery department is that they have the worst cannoli’s I’ve ever eaten. On two separate occasions I’ve felt they are just absolutely terrible and shouldn’t even be sold. They are literally soft and you can unroll the cannoli shell. Anyone who eats cannoli’s knows they should be crisp and not soft like a burrito. The cashiers are hit or miss. My latest visit consisted of the cashier texting and not even acknowledging that I was there except to tell me my total. From going in there so often they’re usually pretty well stocked in the departments and I can’t ever remember not finding a sale item I was looking for, and if you do run into the rare time when you can’t find something the associates on the floor have typically been friendly and helpful. A few negatives about the store in general are:
1. For those of you trying to save, and unless they’ve changed it recently, this particular store doesn’t double coupons.
2. The store is very small, and it’s very crowded, so it is generally cluttered. To be fair though, the front end usually has more than plenty cashiers and the wait time isn’t very long. Just sometimes you have to deal with cashiers who feel treat you like you’re a burden to their time.

You have to drive up to the front of the market to the pick up area. The problem is there is always at least 2 cars Parked there. So you have to double double park to load your groceries. The when the jerks that parked there come out and argue and curse you out when you bring it to their attention that they shouldn’t park there. The staff does nothing to curb this bad behavior so my wife and I will shop at the Aramingo ave location because we do like Shop Rite just not the one on Frankford Ave. That one is being overrun by idiot, ignorant people and a staff that doesn’t have the guts to confront this problem!!!

They have really let this place go! Every now and then I will run in and grab some quick things but will never really do food shopping here. It seems that all of the Mayfair neighborhood goes to this one location and it’s a mess. Inside is just gross, we went to the lunch meat area and there were flys on just about every thing and the same was for the fruits and vegetables. They need to modernize this location because it’s just a disaster inside.
