I love getting my nails done here, I advise anyone to go extremely early because they have a lot of business, Everyone is very friendly and they have so many colors downstairs and upstairs, The owner and her daughter do the BEST nails, The only negative I have is the roaches that will be crawling all over the station and floor, It might look clean and nice but Just don’t put your bags anywhere around the station because his places needs to be cleaned throughly
The younger girls talk about what ever they want to talk about in Their personal lives, The manager runs her mouth all until she’s ready to actually work, The pedicure people can’t speak much English, They work like slaves and don’t have much connection to the popular workers in the salon, Upstairs where they do eye brows is disgusting, If they throw that couch out they might lose about 40 roaches
I really like how they do my nails but it’s lot to think about before you actually decide to go

I’ll give them one star for the hours of operation, and another for accepting credit cards. This place is taacky. I walked in to get my nails done after walking up the fair amount of steps I dropped my cellphone the male technician burst out laughing as if that was the funniest thing he’d seen all week… Very hilarious they tell me i have to go upstairs to get my nails done even tho the owner isn’t doing anything but talking, cool. Upstairs the one technician mouth was wildd talking about how bad her clients were with tipping smh not sure if that was a hint for a good tip, no thank u ma’am… After approx 4,5 days my overlay shimmyed right on down and looked as if I needed a refill BAD it was never that close to begin with. I’ll come back if I’m desperate for a late night pedi or something. But going out of my way to get here absolutely not

I’ll start with the good… the Nail Tech who did my manicure was really nice and gave me exactly what I needed for my Halloween night look — I believe she was either the owner or manager. The prices are cheap — my manicure was $ 10 and I was able to pay with a credit card (a huge pet peeve of mine is when nail salons have credit card minimums that are above the cost of their basic manicure — does not compute!). I did have to wait but not for an especially long time and after I was seated at a nail station, my mani was finished really fast.
On the flip-​side… this place is so dirty and so cluttered that it is actually pretty shocking. It is by far the dirtiest nail salon I’ve ever been in and I am not picky! The bathroom is especially bad — it’s basically a toilet separated from the salon floor by a piece of plywood. I am not at all shocked that other Unilocal reviews include pest sightings because when I walked in, sat down to wait, and started looking around, the first thing I thought was «there have to be roaches in here» (to be clear though: I did not personally see any bugs or other vermin on the premises). The space is so cluttered and disorganized that it creates a decidedly *un*-relaxing salon experience. And while I was happy with the way my manicure *looked*, the flipside of the fast service was that the actual work done to my nails was way below par — my nail tech never even brought out a nail buff. Basically, I paid to have my nails filed and painted — the service I received was not a full manicure.
In summary… they got the job done and my individual experience was fine but I will not be risking a return trip and I would not recommend this salon to a friend.

This place is disgusting. We only gave it a shot because it was within walking distance. It would honestly fail an inspection. From the moment we walked in, the smell of fried fish and acetone almost knocks you out! I’m surprised we didn’t walk out right then and there.
We figured — what the heck. It’s $ 10 for a manicure and we needed to get our nails done quick before dinner. They took us upstairs to a more private area where there were less people. I almost wish they didn’t. It was even filthier upstairs.
How is his establishment still open? I will not be coming back. And how are there any good reviews on here at all?

I only came here to get a toe polish change… Mistake… I swear I would never come to one of these places where they only speak in another language… The girl started to take the polish off and then started talking to the owner lady in that language and then the owner looks at me a couple of times… Ok see, Now I know ya’ll are talking about me! I get so irked about that. I guess you could say that that is a serious pet peeve for me. Ok so on to my toe polish change– It looked horrible, the polish was running out and she still tried to polish my toes. It looked really bad like a toddler painted my toes. If I wanted a child polish job, I clda went to any one of my friends… Irked! By this time, I just wanted to leave, didnt even wanna stay to dry them… Definitely would not go back or recommend anyone to go there… Especially after reading all the other reviews and having a BAD polish change. I swore I would never come back, but my friend had a gift card so I thought what the hell! We waited about 20 minutes for a chair which was the shortest amount of time I’ve ever waited there.
I saw the owner’s tiny dog running around who urinated right next to me. No one noticed or cleaned it up. Whatever, I’m a dog person so that wasn’t totally offensive, but the fact that this poor dog inhales all those fumes all day and clearly no one pays attention to him is a bummer.
While I was getting my gel mani done with tools that were not taken from a sanitary UV bed/​cleaning solution, a roach ran across the table. AHHHH! As if that wasn’t the worst, while my nails were drying under the uv lights, that very same cockroach ran across my hand. EW, gross, I will never return!!!

The place looks amazing… my nail tech transferred there so the quality of my service was amazing! the girls are funny and down to earth and I love that its mostly family.

Well, now I don’t feel so bad. I left here with a great toenail job– the soles left much to be desired. Then, the girl was rushing my nail job because Sandy’s daughter was ready to leave. It was Friday, maybe. Girls nite out – I understood (so far…) Then, the girl put too many coats of polish on and they never dried. She bumped the pinky and put yet another coat on! Well, she ran out as soon as I was at the dryer, of course I bumped the same one – it was like sludge because of so many coats. I was fed up, they ruined my buzz haha, and there I am upstairs all by myself…
Anyway, no one could fix my nail because she put the polish… somewhere. Well, sandy seemed pissed, and kept saying her daughters name. But, it was the little tart who did my nails that screwed up. Well, I finally leave with a super amateur paint job, and it was neutral – how do you screw that up?! Guess what… here come the girls bouncing back in… because they went to the convenience store! OMG. Are you F**king kidding me???
ALL THIS AFTER I PAID HER $ 40 UPFRONT ON A $ 30 MANI-​PEDI. Even the gossip put me in a bad mood – just hateful stuff.

Absolutely awful. Rude staff who play favorites. I got a polish change that looks like it was done by a child.

Dirty! I was going to get a gel manicure & pedicure… But after all the countless violations I saw, I’m amazed I even let myself sit through a pedicure.
I’m a licensed stylist, so I realize I’m picky, but that also means I know what would be considered not just «icky» but a definite code violation.
On top of those issues, the place was cramped and noisy (with most of the noise coming from the staff yelling at one another). My pedicure was awful. The woman doing it didn’t listen to me at all and scrubbed my feet too much, and then barely rubbed a little bit of oil in them. No lotion and no massage. They are rougher and more dried out than before the pedicure. I asked for a few lines as a design and ended up with blobs of color I didn’t ask for that looked like a 5 year old did them. I left immediately after that, telling them I didn’t have time for a manicure. I wish I had spoken up more and not paid for the service or stopped them when I realized how dirty the place was.
Spend a few dollars more and go to Manayunk.

My nail polish came off less than 24 hours after a manicure. I thought about going back to request that it be done over on the house. However, I didn’t want to endure any more of Sandy’s racial comments about black people or insults towards her daughter. I will never be going back.

My experience here was absolutely the worst! I came in for a refill, sat there for at least an hour and a half as I watched them take customers they knew over me! I wanted to leave but that was the only nailery in my area that was open and I needed my nails done badly. Once I got seated with Sandy, the owner, she goes off for another 15 minutes to eat! I couldn’t believe it. The nail job was mediocre. They’re ghetto and unprofessional. I would not recommend anyone to go there. Worst nail salon experience ever! Take your business elsewhere.

Horrible place! Very unprofessional and does too much talking about nothing. The first time I went there, I got my eyebrows done and the wax was too hot and burned my face. It left a mark for months! Second time I went, I waited an hour then when I finally got seen, the girl cut my toe nail too low. When I told her she gave me attitude and said «Well do you want someone else to do your nails?» How unprofessional is that? If I come to a place to spend money, I need to get treated with respect. I will NEVER go back!

Yikes. Don’t even know how I ended up here TWICE. The first time, I had moved in the area and needed a last-​minute brow wax. The lady who took care of me was nice and all, and after all I liked the shape and the wax job lasted. However, the overall hygiene there is not so good. The wax station seemed a mess, with used strips full of hairs all over the scene. Considering that waxing can cause surface infection if not done properly, I didn’t like what I saw at all.
The second time, almost 2 years later, it was also a last-​minute thing. (I don’t know what it is about me and last-​minutes.) I was at Valley Green park and later stopped by that nail salon. I couldn’t remember whether I liked it the first time or not because it had been so long, but as soon as I entered through that door I remembered. Things haven’t changed and this time I was left really grossed out.
While I was waiting, I wandered around and noticed how dirty the place is. I could see a couple of small baby roaches scrawling on the glass of the counter by the plants. I didn’t like the fact that, like last time, the employees act so unprofessionally around customers. One of them was hanging around barefoot on the dirty floor and, hear this: they screamed and shouted and cursed in front of the customers. A business like this should be clean and peaceful, and professional. Really funny that they are «now offering massages» in such a chaotic place.
But that’s not everything. The girl doing my eyebrows the second time didn’t even clean the to-​wax skin with alcohol first and she applied hot wax on one of my eyebrows twice! You never wax the same area twice, especially a delicate area. OMG. I could feel the rash burn like a mother&%$#@*. To top it off, she had just finished a pedicure and excused herself for a minute to basically rub something on the customer’s toes. She comes back to me and didn’t even wash her hands before touching my face again.
I guess I was in total shock and that’s why I didn’t say anything. But I’m posting this because everyone (who cares about hygiene) should be aware. There won’t be a third or ever time.

If you like wasting your time, this is the place for you! I wasted an hour and a half there.
I’m new to the area and was looking for a new nail salon and this one is a block away. I decided to give it a try tonight. I got there at 6pm. First of all, there is no such thing as a Reception booth. There is just someone asking you what you need at the other side of the shop. I just wanted a manicure, nothing special just polish no gel or any of that.
She said 20 minutes and I knew that it was going to be longer since there was some people waiting already.
45 MINUTES AFTER THE INITIAL 20, I had still not been serviced, and no one was even acknowledging that I was still waiting or keeping me updated.
I gave it another 15 minutes and still had not been serviced. Nothing said to me, not even a «pick your color, we’ll be with your in a minute» NOTHING. They were just doing their friends and cousins nails, chatting, eating, texting.
I do my nails every other week + some waxing so they just lost a potentially regular client.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME THERE.

I recently stopped into Sandys nails because I was looking for a little bit more sass for my nails. First neg was that there was no parking. I had to drive around for about 10 – 15 mins looking for spots and places I won’t get towed. Upon entering the shop it’s fairly small has an upstairs. I bought my own nail polishes but they had an array of polishes to choose from both gel and original. I waited some time about 10 – 12 mins my sister was seen first and her manicure was done to my approval. It was my turn next and it seems as if one of the nail techs were forcing me to go upstairs pretty much insisting she didn’t want to do my nails. I walked upstairs and they said they were unable to do my nails as well. I didn’t understand. I waited about 10more mins and got sat in the owners chair. Upon taking a couple receipts and cashing some customers out she did a phenomenal job! With designs and shaping and the price along with the good service I was provided at the end of my visit I will be returning. I’m not sure why the techs were put off by me. I only wanted a couple designs and full set. But the outcome left me extremely satisfied with my results.

We recently relocated to this area and I was excited to have a little nail shop close by, but sadly this is one we won’t be frequenting. I brought my little girl with me just to get a polish change, and was totally put off by how unfriendly the ladies were. They didn’t even look up or acknowledge us when we walked in, didn’t ask what we needed, and when I asked them if they could get my little girl in, they were reluctant to even tell me how long the wait would be. They told us 30 minutes, so we left and ran errands, then came back 30 later and they still weren’t done. Said it would be another 10 minutes and so we left and went to another place nearby that my fellow Unilocalers suggested that was great.
Overall, nothing special of a place, and the staff seem very unprofessional. Bummer because we would be here a lot if it were better.

It hasn’t been a week and I’ve had to remove my nail polish on my fingernails. Working in a professional field I can’t have chipped nail polish.
Two days after I noticed bumps on my shins, thinking they were bug bites I looked closer… nope. I then thought they were ingrown hairs… nope. I don’t know what was in the pedicure water/​scrub but it caused pimple-​like irritations and huge red marks on my legs.
I’d rather save the money for a good dinner with friends and do my own mani/​pedi.

Since I live in the area this is my neighborhood nailery and they do a good job with pedicures and manicures. The staff is super friendly especially the younger girls; who make you feel welcome and comfortable. It is a family run business and you can tell they take pride in their work and the atmosphere.
I have gotten my eyebrows waxed once which ended up being alright but I stick to my regular salon in upper darby for that.
You can’t beat this place for an inexpensive pedicure.

I only get pedicures, so this review is just based on that.
Super-​friendly staff. I went on the Friday before Memorial Day weekend – they were packed, but I didn’t have to wait at all – though she told me that earlier in the day, the wait had been 2 hours.
Nice, basic technique (I didn’t opt for it, though they have hot stone), great massage. And $ 20 for a pedicure? This might be my new go-​to nail salon.
