I once chased a woman up the Art Museum stairs to ask where her perfect hair cut came from. I saw the Kelly bag, heard the Parisian accent, and was filled with dread as I imagined it was either at the very best a drive to the Upper East side, at worst back in Paris. Couldn’t believe my luck when she told me that Michael at Salon Royale Court gave her that beautiful bounce. You see, I moved to Philly for grad school a few years ago from LA. I love my new job and home. But Philadelphia, let’s be honest: most of your hair cuts are vulgar, ham fisted, blunt cuts I could give myself with kitchen scissors. I tried a couple of mediocre stylists in Manhattan that were simply not worth the drive or price. I cried both times I braved Rittenhouse for a cut– and vowed to never have anyone but my Beverly Hills stylist touch my head when I visit the folks in CA. That was before I chased the Hermes clad bobo Parisian up those stairs. Now, for a bike ride and $ 80 in my own neighborhood, I can get my hair back. It’s a dream! Michael, please don’t move to New York. I won’t be able to afford you, but I’d follow you up more than the Rocky stairs to keep my hair cut. You are a Philadelphia treasure.

For over 20 years I’ve been a customer of Salon Royale Court. I’d just like to thank Heather for once again outdoing herself. They never lose their edge and I always feel valued and treated beyond well. Thank you all. One of my greatest finds!

My stylist moved here a few months ago, so I came along. Nice place, modern and clean, without street noise. I get single process color and cuts and have always been satisfied. I believe there’s handicapped access through the building, but they have a private entrance to stairs.

This place is awesome! Beth is my favorite hairdresser ever! I have been living in Philadelphia for a while and used to go to New Jersey for a hair cut. Then I was tired of going to New Jersey so I shopped around in Philly for a hairdresser I liked. I am super picky and then I found Beth. Thank goodness because she is the best — I have been getting my hair by her for about 4 years now and I would recommend her to any of my friends, family and co-workers. Go to Salon Royale Court and get your hair done by Beth — she’s the BEST!!!

Wonderful Salon and Marco is an AMAZING stylist! I have long thick wavy blonde hair that is tricky to deal with(every little mistake is very visible) and I have been to many salons in the city searching for a reliable stylist. Marco is hand down the best I’ve found for both color/highlights and cut by leaps and bounds.

Have been here a couple times as they just moved into the space next to my job. They were recommended by some friends of mine who frequented their old spot on spruce street. The new space is stunning! All Hollywood glam– black and white and chrome. Tons of orchids all over the place, but it’s the window overlooking broad street which really stands out. I’m not really a spa kind of gay. I like a good message and all that but never got into the facial thing. I have terrible feet and after hearing me bitch about them I was suggested to get a pedicure. Just left and my feet feel amazing! Sunny, my pedicurist(?) was very sweet and didn’t blink at dealing with my hooves! Great hands and a delightful personality. I’m not really a big ‘chatter’, I bartend for a living and don’t need all of that when I’m not earning and Sunny was perfect for a guy like me. Highly recommend this place and their staff!
