Salon Norman Dee

I have been going to salon Norman Dee for 10+ years. I remember when they were in the shopping center next to cops banana. I see Christy for my highlights. She is an amazing colorist, especially with me being a «blonderexia» she always gets it right. Julie cuts my hair right every time. I never have to worry about her taking too much off my length, she listens and is on point every time. If you are in need of a new stylist definitely try Christy and Julie.

This review is from my wife. I have been searching for a place to get my hair cut since I am new to the area. I finally decided to take a risk and try this salon. It was amazing! I loved being able to schedule an appointment online and receive a confirmation email and phone call. I was able to say exactly what I wanted. When I arrived the staff was very friendly and I didn’t have to wait very long. The woman who cut my hair was perfect. Her name is Lauren and I will definitely be going back to see her again. She was very attentive to my needs and asked me what I wanted before she started. She made my hair look great and gave me compliments throughout the process and when she was done. I have not been this satisfied with my hair cut in a very long time. Since I used to have a family friend cut my hair and I am not familiar with the typical price of a hair cut so I thought $ 39 was a little steep for a cut with no blow dry but it was definitely worth it! Please ask for Lauren when you go!

I guess it depends on who you get, but I had one and I was done. They are overpriced and not worth it. I went in for a cut, blow dry, and curl. with the trends going on you would think the younger stylists would have a sense of what to do. I asked for curls and I got these tight Shirley temple curls. I’m a 27 year old woman. She didn’t even ask what kind I wanted. Why would any adult want that unless it’s going in an updo? It ended up being $ 80 + tip. I will not be going back.

I will never let anyone but Christy touch my color. She’s amazing, and she makes me look fantastic every five weeks. I see Sarah for a cut every six months or so (I grow it out and then want to chop it off, then grow back, then chop) and she is the first stylist I’ve ever found who can give me a style that I love, instead of just liking okay. Finally, I had an awesome updo with Natalie for a wedding a few months back and got SO many compliments. The prices are comparable with the service, and certainly less than Center City salons where I’ve had far more disappointing experiences.

I was here getting the full beauty treatment… I recommend these names… Bev does awesome color… Danielle I loved my makeup… Dawn cut my hair beautifully… however nail department can be a little better. i still think the Asians do. Better job :)))

I’ve been a Salon Norman Dee client since 2007 or so, and I can’t say enough about the great services I’ve received. The salon space is beautiful, the staff is friendly, experienced, and professional, and the operation, as a whole, is very client-​centered! I go to Christy for color and Lauren for cut. As somebody who plays with hair color constantly, Christy is always up for my ideas and does a fantastic job every time. She definitely knows what will work in my hair and what won’t, and will be honest if something won’t come out like I picture. Lauren does my cut, and whether it’s just a trim or I’m chopping it all off, I’ve never had a bad experience. She takes her time with you, communicates, and gives fantastic blow-​outs to boot. I’ve also had make-​up done here, and it’s beautiful every time. Best of all, the pricing, I find, is very reasonable (I live near Center City, and it definitely beats the usual city pricing). Worth a trip!

I had a really great experience. I made the stupid mistake of using boxed hair dye and ended up with bright red hair (which was fun, but not really okay for the office) so it was a mini disaster. I called on a Saturday, explained what happened, and asked if she had ANY available time to fit me in. They told me to come in when i could and they would check it out– that already was a good sign! It shows they care about the customers.
The salon is really bright, pretty, and clean inside too. Everyone at the front desk is really nice and not snobby at all, which can be a pretty common thing to experience in salons. They offer you coffee and make you feel comfortable.
I ended up getting a coloring with Gia, who was awesome. She was so friendly and down to earth and was honest about what to get done. I wanted to go lighter, back to my natural red, but she explained how damaging going lighter right now would be for my hair– which is great because some stylists will do what you want regardless and not look out for the health of your hair. She ended up toning down the vibrancy of the red so it wasn’t as bright and i was happy with it!
I got my hair cut with Sarah, who again was very friendly. It was only a trim so i can’t comment on it too much but we also talked about hair extensions, since she does them there, and showed me one of the girls who had it done that works there and they looked great!
The salon really values customer service and i liked that a lot. Everyone remembers your name and Gia asked me to come back and see her once my blow dry was finished, which just shows they care.
All together it cost $ 100 for a trim and color– i’m not used to going all out so i don’t know if it’s «pricey» necessarily but it was worth it to me. I’ll definitely be stopping back whether it’s for color or extensions, and i would recommend trying this place out!

I love this salon. It’s pricey but you get what you pay for. I’ve always walked out of there loving my hair. They also styled my wedding party and everyone looked awesome. I’ve always gone to Bev for color and Dawn for my hair cuts/​styles. They take their time and I always enjoy my experiences there. I had tried to go other places for the purpose of saving money and my hair looked terrible. I learned my lesson quickly. They offer a variety of services including spray tans and makeup. I will not be returning. I was wash, cut and blown dry in under ½ hour after waiting ½ hour for my appointment. Explained the problems with my very straight, heavy hair and what I was looking to do. the stylist cut a few layers in back, trimmed my bangs, and charged a hefty price, $ 60.00 later my hair does not even look styled. could have done as well in Hair Cuttery for half the price. My idea of a good style is when you get some compliments. None here!!!

came here to get my hair done for a wedding i was in. the bride is a regular here, so i will not comment on her experience, just mine. i was quoted on the phone — if your hair is gonna be styled up it’s $ 65, if it’s gonna be styled down, it’s $ 35. cool. i was gonna just get my hair curled and leave it down, so 35, sounded great to me! i got there 20min early, and the girl that did my hair — Lauren Gallagher was awesome! she could see me early, which was cool, and then i showed her a photo of what i wanted done, and she actually did a great job replicating it. i never really expect people to replicate very well, but she did a fantastic job. then when i went to go pay, they totally charged me $ 65. WTF? normally i would have complained, but the bride was the center of attention that day, and she was having a worse time at the salon, and i didnt wanna bother with the overcharging on myself. so i sucked it up. soooo not cool though. dont quote people 35 and then charge 65. all she did was use a curling iron on my hair. and lots and lots of hairspray. i didnt get my hair washed, cut or dried or anything. just a simple style. I live in LA, and can get great haircuts for $ 30 in hollywood. i dont know who this salon thinks they are. but they are in philadelphia. NORTHEAST philadelphia. not exactly high end. sorry… just had to bitch them out. but Lauren was awesome.

Never ever a bad experience.
Great staff, very talented,
and would do anything to make sure you leave happy.
It’s not cheap. But for good reason!
