PHS Pop Up Gardens are temporary gardens that transform vacant spaces in Center City Philadelphia, creating beauty and providing gathering places for all to enjoy. Garden signage and activities inform the public about PHS initiatives, especially City Harvest, which grows produce through a network of community gardeners and helps feed more than 1,000 families in need each week.
This year’s garden at 313 South Broad St. is now closed. Visit phsonline.org to learn where PHS may «pop up» next.
History
Established in 2013.
For the past three years PHS has transformed vacant lots into temporary havens through its Pop Up Garden initiative. The 2013 garden is a partnership with University of the Arts that highlights the cross section of art and horticulture. Chipotle Mexican Grill has sponsored the garden for a second year.
