Phở is good! I like their summer rolls too. Seated and served tea as soon as we stepped through the door! Great place if you really want a bang for your buck, my boyfriend and I both got big bowls of Phở for under $ 20! Also there’s a candy store connected to it!

This is my normal go to spot for phở in the city. It’s nearby my place and generally able to get a spot. The service is typically fast — especially for phở. — I used to order the broken rice dishes, but they don’t serve lettuce with combination dishes(maybe it’s changed?). If I want broken rice, I would typically go to Phở Saigon on Columbus Blvd. — My usual go to’s over here are the vermicelli combination with the egg roll or the phở tai — nothing warms you up on a colder winter’s day than a nice bowl of phở. — Recently tried the bo luc lac here, which is beef cubes. Typically served with a bowl of salt and pepper to dip your meat on the side. This came with tomatoes, lettuce, and onions(some grilled and some flash cooked). It’s not too bad. I prefer the one served at Nam Phuong than this(which comes with a bed of watercress). Bottom line — good spot — stick to Phở and vermicelli and avoid the weekends because it’s crazy in this center trying to find parking!

We have been here multiple times and never leave disappointed. Whether it is an appetizer, phở, or vermicelli everything comes hot, delicious and quick. The staff is super nice and helpful. Only negative is that they don’t refill your water.

Walked in for the desserts/snacks and got the cha chien, which was fresh, but decent, a bit sweet, and the xoi pancakes were fine.

I came here this past Sunday, regularly hungover as usual for a phở experience but I have decided not to come back for multiple reasons. My friend ordered a coconut juice and there was a huge bug in it! Omg… That almost made me feel more sick than I already did. She asked for a sprite but how do you not look at your cup before handing it to a customer! The bug was huge. I also wanted to try bun bo hue for the first time. I’ve never had it before but I always see people post pictures of it and it looks spicy and yummy so I asked the waiter, how’s the bun bo hue, is it spicy? what is it like in reference to phở? And all he said was, I’ll go ask. No offence, but have you never had the dish before? How do you not know the answer? I was looking more for an opinion rather than a factual answer he comes back and says«doesn’t taste like phở and it’s spicy» So i figure okay, this guy isn’t going to help me out so I’ll just go with my usual. The chicken summer rolls were so dry and not fresh and the chicken quality was so bad. I couldn’t tell if it was chicken or pork. I usually come here but I am definitely on the prowl for a new phở spot

There was a roach on our table! I’ve always loved this place and it’s been my go to phở spot in all of philly for the past 2 years, but I’m sad to say, tonight will be my last ever visit to Viet Houng. My wife and I came in as usual to great service and a quick staff that had our orders of Phở ready within 15min. Just as we started to eat, maybe 5 minutes in, my wife jumped up and pointed my attention to a small red cockroach that was crawling out from the spoons on the table that they leave out for you. I was actually speechless and tried to use the Siracha bottle to squash it on the table, but stopped one I realized how gross the situation was. Luckily a few of staff peeps were rolling silverware in the booth next to ours and so my wife just calmly told the older man about the roach and he came and grabbed it. Afterwards I was really kind of shocked, mainly because, that was the end of it – there was not compensation, not that I asked for any, but there was nothing. We didn’t get moved. We still paid. There wasn’t even a «sorry» from the management. Look, I realize this may have just been a coincidence, and maybe my wife and I were just the unlucky ones here, but come on it was a ROACHONOURTABLE. Sorry, I’ll just have to find another Phở spot in town. :(

Bubble tea — delicious. One of the best I’ve had in a while. Meal — not great. I had beef vermicelli and the beef was poor quality and charred. Barely ate it. The spring rolls were ok, but the peanut sauce tasted like it was 75% soy sauce. I’m disappointed but will still come back for take out tea.

My favorite phở restaurant to go to! This place is so peaceful and I bring everyone here, even visitors. Their service is great and they are all polite. I never had a problem with them before. They get my order out as fast as they can. Would recommend this restaurant to anybody that is going to be visiting Philadelphia and are near South Philadelphia.

Overall, my favorite Viet spot in northern South Philly/Bella Vista. Everything here is great. The lotus shoot salad, the papaya salads, the spring rolls, the beef stew(Bo Kho — ask for it with french bread instead of noodles), the carpaccio, the other soups. Order a spread and bring a few friends, it’s gonna be a long haul. You really can’t beat this place for the intersection of price and flavor. Every time I’m down in Wing Phat plaza, the lady and I have to stop in here for a quick snack. The kind that quickly ruins any of our evening plans because we ate too much at Viet Huong. Did I mention they also have cheap, good drinks, and kickass smoothies? What about their Banh Mi, which I find to be second only to Café Saigon’s in the Adam’s Avenue shopping plaza in NE Philly? Come here. Try everything. The menu is pictographic and the dishes comes out looking just as pretty as their photos.

After reading positive reviews on the phở here and the proclaimed«affordability», I decided to veer from my normal choice of fare at Nam Phuong to stop and give this S. Philly phở venue a taste. There are a lot of mediocre phở joints in Philly and this restaurant adds another name to that list. I ordered the phở tai bo vien(rare steak and beef balls) and a summer roll app. I don’t typically order apps that I can make myself, but since it was a first visit, I thought I might as well. Well-packed with veggies and protein, accompanied by a solid peanut sauce, I’d give the app two thumbs up. Most Vietnamese places serve their peanut sauce with crushed peanuts rather than peanut butter, so it lacked the buttery-creaminess that I affectionately love. Also, the pickled carrots/daikon that came in the sauce gave an overall vinegary taste — not bad, not spectacular. On to the phở… decent portion, good amount of noodles and meat, typical herb accompaniments. One note on the broth. The broth needed some solid seasoning from hoisin sauce and sriracha which means the flavor was not strong enough to stand alone. For $ 8+ a bowl, there are plenty of alternatives for mediocre… for cheaper. Now that I’ve gotten the phở out of the way, perhaps I’ll visit again to check out the other Vietnamese fare… definitely eyeing the Vietnamese banh mi(hoagie) at the café. Not too many options but worth trying next time.

After three visits Phở & Café Viet Huong gives the impression of being a Vietnamese diner. A broad menu and very reasonable prices, but nothing all that impressive coming from the kitchen. Last night I tried the Chicken with Rice in Lemongrass Sauce. It was described as being spicy, but wasn’t. The Chicken was overcooked and dry, and the Lemongrass flavor weak. The only veggies were Green Peppers and Onions cut large. The Rice was fine, but I did not use much for sopping up the sauce as it was just not worth the calories. In the recent past, I have tried the Phở. It was adequate, but not the rich broth and ample meat and noodles that can be had right next door or across the parking lot. Too, the smoothies and bubble teas are not all made with fresh fruit, but come from a can. They are cool and sweet, but don’t taste lively. Lastly, the Vietnamese Coffee(hot) was pretty good. This is really a place to come if you want a filling meal that doesn’t break the bank. Still, the word that keeps flashing for me is, «Uninspiring.»

We are obsessed with this place. The food is cheap, fast yet so delicious. If you eat in, they bring a delicious hot Jasmine tea. Foodwise, our favorite phở to order us #160 with beef roundeye and flank. We also love the BOLUCLAC #260. The meat is tender and seasoned wonderfully and served with Rice, tomatoes and pickled veggies! Try the young coconut juice. Soooooo good!

Spacious seating area, okayish servers. Parking can be a hit or miss. Depending on what day, your best bet is to come on a weekday. Weekend is definitely not a good day just because parking is shared with the super market and other little shops within the shopping area. Ordered the lotus root salad which I never ever tried before. I just happen to give it a try just because the picture looked very appetizing. I was pleased with my decision because the salad was very crunchy and very delicious. A meal in itself. This dish is comprised of crunchy pickled lotus roots, pickled carrots and daikon, tender pork and shrimps dressed with fish sauce vinaigrette, crispy fried shallots and roasted peanuts with shrimp chips along the side. The salad is so light and refreshing. I also ordered the fish sour soup(canh chua) what I love about the soup is the contrasting flavors of sour, sweet, and savory and the contrasting textures of all the different veggies. Overall, food was good with lots of seating area.

I have had my shares of good and bad Vietnamese food and this place has gotten my 5 star approval. My family is Vietnamese and my mom makes pretty darn good phở so everywhere I go I’d get Phở just to test out the flavors of the restaurant. When I lived down in South Jersey there was absolutely no Phở place that I genuinely liked or they end up being over $ 10, which by the ways is expensive for phở. I’m only sad that this place is all the way in Philly otherwise my family would’ve gone there everytime we’re too lazy to cook at home. If you want to try Vietnamese food this is a good place to start. There are more magnificent places to try, but I give it a 5 star because 1. It’s cheap, 2. Parking is plentiful, 3. Flavorful food and 4. They accept both card and cash. 5. LARGEPORTIONS. It’s in a very convenient location in Viet Town Philly and I highly recommend the place if you’re in the area and craving some phở.

The food here is good — authentic Vietnamese food. I enjoy the traditional Vietnamese décor, booth seats, and overall environment. I would have to take a star off because of the wait service. It takes them about 20+ minutes to get your dish out. :(

They have really good bubble drinks, made with real fruits. My favorite is their durian drink! I also recommend strawberry and mango bubble drinks too.

I have recently discovered Phở. And then I was taken to this place. Best Phở yet. Viet Huong is in a weird little strip mall next to several other identical phở places, but this one is special. The phở portion is appropriately huge, and piping hot. They give you fresh sprouts and basil and lime on a separate plate to add as you like. I’ve never gotten much else besides the phở because the staff isn’t exactly literate on gluten free lingo. I’ve never gotten sick from the phở, either, so I think it’s safe to say that it’s real broth, and not something cut with boullion cube. People seem to complain about the service, but it’s kind of a cheap place, so I think it’s right for what you pay for. Also, I like enjoying my neverending soup in peace. Good on them. There is also a parking lot(two hour limit, I think), which is great since it’s not the most transit-friendly place.

We do the hour drive from Central New Jersey just to dine at this large and friendly Vietnamese café. The Phở is the best I’ve had simply because the stock is so rich and aromatic that I forgo the usual accompaniments so as not to mask the taste of one drop of soup. Another of our favorites is the build your own spring roll platter which has stuffed grape leaves, Vietnamese sausage and shrimp grilled on sugarcane along with all the fixings and rice wrappers for you to assemble your own roll. This is a great family place and judging from the mix of customers also a very popular one. Order some tasty and inexpensive Banh Mi’s on the way out.
