Interesting lil shop with awful hours! You can find some nice designer & department store clothing here usually in really nice condition. The women who donate must have some bucks and taste. The housewares & brick a brack are a bit overpriced for my taste and not really worth investigating in my opinion. I find the older women here a bit prickly and not a nice as some other reviewers have mentioned. I’ve come in here alone and with friends who were POC and received a markedly different experience.

Before I even get in the door, I spot a men’s Armani jacket(blazer) – for $ 10! Inside, I find several more luxury brands — Eileen Fisher, St John, Escada and others with nothing more than $ 20. There were also several like– new cashmere sweaters for $ 3 – 5 each. Some rich old ladies are definitely in this catchment area! Of course, all the goodies I liked were size 14 or XS and so I didn’t walk out with clothes. Maybe next time. Staff was very friendly and even discounted a necklace I bought. Will be back.

Small, a lot of bad things, and definitely hit or miss, but bought my boyfriend three vintage Liberty of London ties for $ 5/each. They were in great condition, no rips, spots, oily bits, anything icky. Definitely notable. Those are going to be $ 20 and up on Etsy, so this is worth adding into your rotation of vintage stores to cruise.

This is a great little«secret» find! The Bargain Shop is a quick stop; definitely not large but with a large selection ranging from clothing to jewelry to housewares to books. I always come away with at least one item, but that’s not why I continue to shop. I love the ambiance! Everything is clean and neat. The ladies who volunteer are usually«Grandma» types. You know, the ones that ask«How are you today, Dear?», and make you want to call home. And, it’s a small enough store that you can lose yourself in «stuff» for a few minutes, then leave without feeling drained. The only criticism I have is that they sometimes close early(up to an hour or two) without posting a sign.

I was lured in here on my lunch break today by a sign advertising their end-of-season sale. Tucked away behind the hospital gates, the Bargain Shop offers a small but well-appointed collection of clothes, books, craft materials, and household things like quirky baskets and candelabras. Prices are a bit higher than a place like the AIDS Thrift, but they offer half off everything in the store during their last week of operation in June(they take summers off). The out-of-the-way location means their merchandise hasn’t been too thoroughly picked over. The ladies working here are chatty and awesome. Proceeds from the store benefit patient services at the hospital, I believe. M-F 10 – 3, re-opening on September 8, 2009.
