Specialties

Here at Osagame we focus on teaching the finest Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the area. The Martial Arts we teach focus on grappling with efficiency and leverage and skill allowing smaller and weaker practicioners have success with larger and stronger opponents. Our Judo and BJJ programs are both taught as independent programs though many of our students cross train in both styles to maximize their skills.

Our program is also particularly geared to new and inexperienced students to learn and benefit from exposure to the grappling arts. We also have a focus on self defense instruction with our students to allow all of the members of the Osagame family to gain experience protecting themselves in real life situations. We also have a strong and successful competition team for members who wish to test themselves in Judo and BJJ competitions.

Osagame also features private and group classes in Kettlebells fitness. The use of kettlebells has emerged as a tough and very efficient workout for the modern world. Workouts are only half an hour and are offered four times per week. The great advantage of kettlebell training is the intense totally body workout that can be had in a relatively short amount of time. For people on the go the advantage of short intense and fun total body workouts are great.

Osagame also offers Kids judo classes that help children learn self defense, fitness, discipline and coordination in a safe and fun class that can lead to a life time of benefits.

History

Established in 2010.

Osagame Martial Arts and Fitness opened up in South Philadelphia and began as the home of the Philadelphia Judo club, founded in 1949, the oldest continuously active Martial Arts program in Philadelphia. In addition to 20 years of Judo Head Instructor Ray Huxen had also been practicing and teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for nearly 15 years and alongside the Judo club began a new BJJ program. Since opening in South Philadelphia both programs have grown and thrived teaching grappling and self-Defense to members locally and all over the greater Philadelphia area.

Osagame is a family run team and we pride ourselves on being the club we would always have wanted to join. we don’t require contracts for our members, instead intending to build a place and team that all new members can join, learn and succeed. Our focus in on creating an atmosphere that is welcoming and accessible to new students but also trains hard and produces regional and national competitors and champions.
