I’ve been delaying giving this review because I hate giving small businesses low ratings out of fear that I’ll shut them down(though perhaps I’m not as powerful as I think I am). It’s one thing if there’s a bug in your soup at a restaurant, but when it’s just bad service or quality from some professional service provider, I feel bad giving a low rating. So out of guilt over this review, I’ll spell out my reasons for the 2 and note that it’s 1 for service, 5 for quality and 3 for cost. I brought 4 prints in to be matted and to add new picture hooks to the back. I had the frames already, and I’d done a terrible job framing them myself since the prints really needed a mat or to be centered and taped into the frame, but instead, I just let them fall down into the bottom of the frame. To make it worse, I’d added the picture hooks at different positions on each of the four frames, so I had to compensate for that by putting nails at different heights on my walls. All in all, my beautiful Mucha prints looked terrible, so I felt it was time to bring a professional. Enter New Image Art & Framing. I took my four framed prints in on a Sunday and I was told that it would take 3 days and that they would mat them and put on new picture hooks on the back. Because the four prints are part of a set, they had to be done identically, so I chose my color mat with some assistance from the sales clerk. I went back on Wednesday and they weren’t ready. I was told the weekend. I went back on Sunday and the corners of the mats were all at weird angles — well not«weird,» but not 90 degree corners. And not identical to each other from picture to picture. 2 frames were good enough, but 2 were definitely not. I tried to discuss it with the clerk and he seemed to only a little understand my complaints, but then another customer came in and he stopped paying attention to me and told me it would be ready Wednesday. On Wednesday, someone else called me not understanding my complaints but I explained on the phone and he seemed to understand. He told me come back over the weekend. I did and on Sunday, the same clerk I’d seen every other time told me he didn’t understand what was wrong and they hadn’t done anything. I showed him the problems with the corners of the mat and how the lines weren’t parallel to each other on the top and the bottom. Then he understood. I came back a week later and it was done perfectly. The clerk was somewhat apologetic about how long it took. So the end quality of the work, I’d give a 5. But for the service I’d give a 1. what was supposed to take 3 days took a month and a lot of hassle. It would have been nice if they’d offered me a discount or a coupon for a future framing job, but they didn’t. It wasn’t about the money but it would have been an acknowledgement of how frustrating a situation it was. But I happily took my 4 beautifully matted prints and hung them on my wall and my wall is so much more gorgeous now.

While walking down South Street, a quite large«Keep Calm and Carry On» print caught my eye, so I walked into New Image to see if there were any other pieces there that interested me. I’m sure if I had time, I could have spent all day looking through their offerings, but having no car makes it a bit difficult to transport purchases. They offer quite a selection of affordable framed artwork that I will be back to purchase once I have a place to call my own!

Worst customer service I have ever experienced!!! I brought a mirror in to have the glass replaced(for a wedding gift I was giving that following weekend) and was told it would take 5 – 7 days. The manager promised to call me when as soon as it was in. Well, it has been over a month and it is still not done. I go in every week to see what the problem is and every week Bob the manager tells me that he will find out and call me right back, yet has NEVER once called. I do NOT know how this place stays in business!!!
