New Father & Sons Shoe Service

Ulysees (Father) and Ulysees Jr (Son) are absolutely wonderful! I am a new customer to this shop and definitely plan to return for all my shoe repair needs. I recently discovered New Father & Sons Shoe Services when I embarked in a desperate search to find a shoe repair shop that would add a 3 cm to a pair of shoes — in essence turning one of the shoes into an orthopedic shoe for a relative overseas. As you can imagine, getting an orthopedic shoe without insurance is costly but Father & Sons Shoe Services will do it for a fraction of the price and the shoes look great! Amazing customer service — they always answer the phone and take the time to explain things to you. They even let me email them a couple of shoe photos to help me pick out shoes that would be better candidates for this sort of work. The work was completed in a short couple of days, just in time for me to go on my trip overseas. While I was there I also got a pair of boots resoled and they look brand new. Their prices are reasonable too. It’s a win win all around.

On my first visit I just got pair of dress shoes repaired. I had hoped for a pair of climbing shoes repaired also, but the shopkeeper told me those couldn’t be repaired.
I didn’t get the heels filled in – just the souls re-​attached – but the job seems to be done right for $ 12, so I’m satisfied.
Both on drop off and pick up I got service right away.
The store is about a block from Oxford Circle which is convenient for me.

I like Ike!
The man (Ike) who runs the place is friendly and talkative and reassuring. As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted with the smell of leather and dust and rubber, it’s a surprisingly pleasant smell. I was immediately reminded of Ollivander’s Wand Shop when I saw the boxes of shoes lining the wall in a haphazard way.
On to my shoe repair…
I had two pairs of shoes repaired. The first was a pair of knee high, leather boots. They were my first investment in good, quality footwear. I wore them so much that I wore right thought the soles. I had huge gaping holes and slices in the sole. The heel was worn down and crooked. The sides of the foot were scarred with salt of winters past. They were pretty pathetic looking.
The second pair was a fairly new pair of black leather booties. The heel cap fell off during a drunken night riding a bull, oops!
I placed my shoes in the care of Ike (and his son?) and they did their magic and made them better than new! My soles are perfect, no more soggy feet for me! They buffed them up and shined them and got rid of all the salt marks. He rebuilt the heels too. He replaced both heel caps.
As for pricing, they can’t be beat. They’re really charging far too little. I went to another place (that I won’t name but it’s on Frankford Ave, near Cottman) and was quoted $ 75 to fix one pair and $ 35 to fix another. Ike did it for $ 35 and $ 15. What a bargain! I made sure to take a handful of business cards to pass along to my friends.

Something about a shoe repair shop that makes you feel like you stepped back in time, and this place is no different.
This is a small family run operation ran by father and son. They are reasonably priced and were willing to throw on some new taps and a polish while I waited. Shoes looked great and I was on my way in no time.
It isn’t fancy, well kept or well organized but great customer service and reasonable prices make this place a northeast philly gem for 40 years.

It’s hard to find a good cobbler in 2013. Actually, it’s hard to find a cobbler, really. New Father & Sons in NE Philly, Oxford Circle area, is excellent. A true old-​school shoe repair, neighborhood shop, these guys are amazing and it’s enjoyable to just be in their shop. A friend of my fiancé’s recommended this shop and I was thrilled to find a cobbler close by. I had two pairs of expensive leather boots re-​soled that I wore to death. The work was impeccable and they shined them both up at no cost and not at my request. They do key copies as well. Oh, and they are right off the Blvd, so if you’re not in the neighborhood, they are an easy stop.
