Mexibike

Spectacular little bike shop! I took my old road bike in here because it had a broken spoke and figured I might as well get a tune-​up also. The prices simply cannot be beat and the bike is riding like a dream. I obviously needed a tune-​up more than I realized because the difference is incredible!
The guy may not SEEM like the friendliest or most welcoming bike mechanic, but it’s simply because he doesn’t speak very much English. I promise if you are patient you will get good service at an excellent price, and if you come prepared to ask for what you want in Spanish don’t be surprised if you get a cheeky discount ;-)

I went looking for a new tire rim. I took a moment but a worker found a woman who spoke English to assist in the conveying of what I needed. Took 20 min to find a rim and fix it, no sweat. Bought the rim in cash and left. While I was putting it on I noticed it was bent. Now I have to go back hoping someone will be there to help explain my ordeal and refund me.

I have been lucky to know the people here and I dont speak spanish, some people here put rude without even knowing the guys who really work here, Carmen and Jali are real nice folks who work so hard for their families. They have fixed all the bikes which i brought to them at the most reasonable price you can find anywhere. Its true you may not expect the best A personality you may find at other bike shops but they are not in any way rude. Busy could be the word and patience is needed from you as a customer. I LOVE MEXIBIKE A HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO EVERY RIDER IN the Philly Area look for Carmen or Jali. They will tune your bike for 20 bucks and also will not let you pay for a diagnostic unlike the other bike shop at 9^th which took off my pedal and told me to replace it with a 50 buck one when i declined they charged me for taking off the pedal, really?! Go to Mexibike instead!

Go here for basic repairs! I stopped in expecting to buy a new front wheel after crashing into a high curb. Instead of selling me something new, they offered to fix my bent one instead. 30 minutes and 7 dollars (!!!) later I was back on the road.

Another solid experience today … so glad I went there over the (closer and ill-​reputed) shop around the corner from me.
I might argue the innertube replacement ($ 10 installed) is a bit high but I’m cheap. That said, they’re also well honest. they could have sold me on a rim or a tire, instead they said I can replace a broken spoke ($ 8 installed) … just like that, I’m on the road safely again. My only regret is they aren’t closer to where I live (I’m lazy, too).

Walked in to purchase a lock. Stood there for 10 minutes. I was never even acknowledged. Not a nod, a hello, or a «can i help you?» Several people walked in after me that spoke Spanish and were greeted then promptly taken care of in front of me. I’m not sure if it was a language barrier issue or i was just being ignored, but I cant stand rude behavior, especially from a business. I walked out and definitely will not be returning.

It takes a lot for a place to get me to log into my Unilocal account and leave a review, but this place deserves it. The shop and staff are wonderful, and I am so glad I discovered it. I am one of those people that decided to buy a bike, knowing nothing about bikes, off of Craigslist. I was sure I would have a few issues, but the bike was so cheap, I figured I could solve them as I went. Turns out more was wrong than expected, and every other bike shop wanted at least $ 50 for a tune-​up alone. I brought my bike here, and they were great. For $ 70, I got a new chain, new tire, blinking head and tail lights, AND a full tune-​up. This is for parts and labor, which is crazy. Plus they were incredibly nice and accommodating. My new-​to-​me bike is now riding like a dream! Bring your bike here!

Perhaps not the most precise careful bike work, but they’re consistently solid at prices that are shockingly low. I have to check to make sure the asked-​for price is not a language issue every single time. Incredibly friendly. The only place my wife and I take our commuter bikes. I might not take my nice road bike here… but at these prices, then again, I just might.

These guys and gal are honest, hardworking, and have the longest hours and lowest prices in the city. When all the other bike shop employees are still sleeping or are eating dinner, these folks are working hard!
This is the place to go for a repair. They’re fast, but not at the expense of the quality of work!

Mexibike did a wonderful job fixing my front wheel after I broke a spoke. They also did a tune-​up and ended up charging me less than they initially quoted. Their business practices seem to be more straight-​forward and their prices cheaper than a lot of bike businesses nearby. Will definitely go to them again. You guys should know that they’re business hours are a little different than they say on Unilocal.When I asked them, it’s 9−6p during the week and then closed on Sunday (I think).

Great service! The prices are standard, maybe slightly cheaper than other bike joints, but definitely convenient for those in Bella Vista/​East Passyunk. It is way closer than Bicycle Revolutions or VIA and a lot cheaper. The woman mechanic is very friendly and will definitely try to be reasonable and fair with you.

The place is pretty cool, and the lady who was in charge when I went in seemed to really know what she was talking about.
It was pretty late in the day (like 6pm) so she told me to come back tomorrow morning and it would be ready. But my schedule was messed up, so I went back 2 days later instead.
They hadn’t looked at my bike yet. It was in the middle of a big stack of bikes (yeah, stacked on its side). They didn’t know what was wrong with it or when it would be ready. So I was bike-​less for 2 days for nothing – ended up just taking it back and getting it fixed somewhere else.
Sad about it, though – it’s the kind of neighborhood place that you really want to love.

I came in because I needed a piece to put my new bike seat on and had the mechanic do a quick tune up. He replaced a few things and adjusted brakes and greased everything up in about 10 minutes for $ 15. Now my bike rides a thousand times better!

The most honest and fast bike fixers in town. I was in and out in 10 min with a new chain and a cool new headlight all for under $ 20. Cash only so go to the ATM beforehand.

After refusing to go to those rip off other bike shops to fix my commuter bike… good old Unilocal led me to mexibike. Best decision ever. My poor bike was in pieces, sitting in the corner weeping, yearning to be fixed after someone totally ruined her derailer while I was at work.
Took her to Mexibike and apparently I was even missing part of her in the trauma incident. I was told the derailer wasn’t broken and just needed a $ 19 part. Then he asked if I had a flat in which I responded «just fix her all». So… for a $ 19 part, full tune up, fixed flat, new $ 7 blinking back light, and super speedy HONEST service, I paid a total $ 52 and left a tip.
Definitely found my new bike shop… and would recommend to anyone who’s been looking for that reasonable, great service, shop.

Anyway, after suffering my third flat in about a week, I found myself back at Mexibike a couple days ago. This time I brought a deep-​V wheel set that I purchased a few months ago and was finally ready to have installed. I picked out some tires, and they did the rest. Once again, I was out of there in under ten minutes – impressive considering everything I needed done.
Unfortunately I didn’t realize that they were a cash-​only establishment, but they were kind enough to let me pay what I could, leave my old wheels as collateral, and return once I had the rest of the money.

okay, so i have a trek 08′ road bike but i also have a «vintage» amf bike that i refuse to get rid of, despite the ominous squeaking sound coming from the frame or even after the left pedal flew off into traffic a few weeks ago. i live near the italian market so i’ve seen the mexibike shop plenty of times. i decided to take my amf bike there to not only get new pedals but to fix the breaks and the flat that the front tire was sporting. i get there and a little brown guy the size of a small totem was at the back of the shop working on a bike. he spoke little english and i even less spanish but we managed to understand each other enough to get my bike squared away. i left the bike and took a quick trip to whole foods. twenty minutes later i returned to shop and the front tire was inflated, the breaks fixed and stabilized, and the new pedals were attached. It felt like he did more than what we spoke about because the bike road like a dream, i no longer felt like i was constantly riding up a very steep hill. i paid the 30 dollars… yeah, you heard me, 30 dollars and threw in a five dollar tip… i know only five dollars… in my defense it was all i had left after visiting wholepaycheck… but i digress… go and see the little totem man for your bike issues… he’s an absolute gem.

I stopped into this place while running errands yesterday because i broke the chain on my bike after I ran into a lady. Yes, I was on the sidewalk. l. The worker fixed my chain and had me back on the streets and ready to strike again in under five minutes and for a paltry $ 5.
They also have hours that make more sense than every other bike shop out there; Monday — Saturday 8am-​8pm, Sunday 8am-​3pm.
