MCA Accounting & Consulting

As a client of MCA Accounting for several years, we mistakenly believed that we could trust this firm to keep our confidential information private. Unfortunately, we learned the hard way that this firm and it’s owner simply cannot be trusted with confidential information, and we feel a responsibility to warn others who are seeking information about MCA and/​or it’s owner that they should be careful when hiring MCA Accounting, and to also warn those that have hired MCA to take precautions to safeguard confidential data should they decide to hire this firm.
Unilocal does not allow the use of the owners individual name, so I will refer here only to MCA Accounting, but all information posted here also refers to the owner of MCA Accounting.
I’m the president of Broadband Products, Inc., which is based in Cherry Hill, NJ. MCA Accounting worked for my company about 30 –40 hours per week as an accounting consultant for around four years beginning around 2009 through 2013.
As a consultant providing accounting work, MCA had direct access to an extraordinary amount of our confidential information. In mid-​2013 we found out through data, e-​mails and files that he had stored on a company owned computer, that the owner had been scheming and planning for as long as a year to compete directly with our company. While working and getting paid by our company to provide accounting services, the owner quietly formed his own company called «Atlas Media», that competed directly with our company.
From poaching our suppliers to plagiarism, MCA clearly used information he gained access to only under the guise of confidentiality to compete with us and to attempt to take our customers.
As an accounting consultant that seeks trust in order to gain access to confidential sensitive information, this is about as unethical as you can possibly be.
In 2013, we began proceedings to sue the owner and also to formally report him to the Pennsylvania State Board of Accountancy. Our attorney advised that due to his limited assets, a lawsuit wouldn’t be worth the time and money since it would cost more to sue MCA Accounting than what we could be recovered in damages since neither the owner nor his company had any assets. We are still considering reporting him to the state in order to expose him to other companies that might hire him and give him access to confidential information.
I would caution any company that is considering hiring MCA Accounting to think very carefully before allowing him access to information you would not want a competitor to have access to. MCA and the owner are about as unethical as they come.

Mark is extremely competent and professional. I was more than happy with his accounting and consulting services. He replies quickly. He has an infrastructure to support his business. He’s also very personable and friendly. I had to leave based on a move to a different jurisdiction, and until the end, he tried to be as helpful as possible.
