Les Petits Cherubs

Thank you to all the caring teachers, assistants and parent community at LPC. I heard nothing but negative remarks about day care in general and was so concerned with my daughter spending more of her wake hours with «strangers» than with my husband and I. Turns out, they’re family now, too. My daughter is 2.5 and asks to see her friends and teacher on weekends. She is excited every night to tell us all about her day. And I can’t say enough about the staff! Truly an exceptional team who connects with each student individually. And, us parents must be doing something right because the kids that fill the classrooms and halls are amazing! Kudos to everyone who is instrumental in their development :) happy 2016!

I’d like to counter some of the seemingly bogus negative posts I see about this center. We have had a generally good experience there in nearly 2 years. There have certainly been hiccups along the way as this center has expanded since it opened in Aug 2009 and is much larger than the other Les Petits Cherubs facilities. The administration has been generally responsive to concerns raised. We have looked at and been on waitlists at other places, but overall there are pros of LPC that outweigh the cons for us personally. Most importantly, our son loves to go every day (he never wants to leave at pickup) and has thrived there.
Pros
Active learning is obvious (my son’s pediatrician was so impressed with his language skills. We can tell he learns new things all the time and plays very well with other kids.)
Caring teachers
Safe
New/​clean facility (at least it was when we started, but it still feels fresher than many others)
Federally-​run food program (my son gets so much more variety than if I was packing his lunch each day. Furthermore, my son is NOT starving. He has had 2 meals plus snacks there, 5 days a week for 21 months and remains in the 95% for weight.)
Accommodating to specific requests for our child’s care (re: diet, diapering, etc.)
Longer operating hours than many other centers. Also, they don’t have too many days they’ve been closed and have been good about being open on bad weather days.
Range of ages and education: goes from early infants all the way to
Pre-​K, so I don’t feel I need to move my son for PreSchool

Cons
Growing pains as this center gets bigger (I think they are now at capacity).
Teacher/​staff turn-​over (we’ve lost a good teacher about once every 6 months and I was very sad to see one Director go. But good teachers still remain.)
There were some facility issues that have been resolved (doors; room darkening without blinds which violated fire code; emergency plan for basement; kitchen facilities up to state standards).
Infant room is big (up to 20 infants), but they are supposed to be breaking it down into developmentally-​appropriate smaller groups.
