Kary’s Beauty Salon

Generally I was always happy with going to Karys for a haircut. I usually went to Dina. But she is no longer working there. I stopped going there about two years ago because the price was always inconsistent. Unfortunately, I went there for a wash and curl and originally I had an appointment with Amy but she was busy and couldn’t do me in time for my appointment. So they suggested I go to someone new. I wasn’t confident and I should’ve trusted my instinct. Well let me just say that while she was blow drying my hair she turned the dryer on her own hair. Well she started to use the flat iron to curl my hair and then I didn’t like it. So she wet my hair again, blow dried it and did it again with a curling iron. It was a little better but I think I could’ve done a better job myself. In the end I left and tipped the lady. Well the next morning when I washed my hair, it smelled like perm solution and my hair is all brittle and damaged! Typically the other girls are great with haircuts. But I find that appointments are useless at this establishment. I feel like if you have an instinct, just go with it.

I took my niece here to get her haircut. She had an appointment with Kary. Overall, the experience was good. her cut turned out just the way she wanted it. The price was fairly decente ($ 30 plus $ 10 tip). Would recommend that they spend a bit more time on the shampooing process… but maybe that is the not the focus of the salon… will be taking my niece here again in the future.

Went for a first time hair cut and it was done quickly and nicely by Kary, the owner. I only had to wait about15 minutes past my appointment time. Kary knows how to cut hair. the cut only took about 20 minutes. Based on what other customers told me and another Unilocal review, I thought the haircut would be around $ 25. However, it was not until the end that I was told it was $ 35. I think I was cheated a bit. There was no price list anywhere in the store, only a sign that said «cash only, not credit cards, no atm cards.» I would expect the owner to be more upfront and professional. It’s also better to tell customers beforehand in order for them to be able to make sure they have enough cash before the services are done. She could have done the consultation and quote before cutting as I was sitting waiting for about 15 minutes before the cut began.

I love getting my hair done here! Kary always does an excellent job and the prices are pretty low. After going here just once, I recommended that my sister try this place out. She also had a great experience. The ladies at Kary’s are very kind and easy to talk to. Kary remembered me after just one visit. Little things like that make it known that they truly appreciate your business.
The skill and service at Kary’s is what will keep me coming back for years!

I was never really a believer of having a «stylist.» I just wanted a decent cut at a low price, no matter where I was getting my hair cut or who was holding the scissors. Well, that’s changed.
I’d been going to a place for some time and getting my hair cut for $ 50 (plus tip), and I would walk out of the salon feeling. not bad, but not great, about my hair. It was just, «meh, it’s the same cut.»
So a friend of mine made an appointment for me with Amie, and I was nervous that I’d be paying for yet another cut I didn’t love. I was wrong! Amie was talkative and very friendly, and very receptive of what I was looking for. I walked out with an amazing cut and a happy wallet — the shampoo, cut, and style was $ 25 (plus tip!)
This was back in November, and I went this past week for another cut because my hair grew so quickly. I was a happy customer yet again. Now that I’m a repeat customer I had to write a review and recommend the shop to everyone!

I just moved to the Greater Philadelphia area a year ago and was desperately seeking to find a hairdresser nearby. I was referred by a friend who usually gets his cuts on a regular with Amy. So I figured why not give her a shot.
Whatya know! I had such a great time. The girls were hilarious and had a great sense of humor. Honestly, finding a hairdresser who can cut and have an awesome personality is a bonus! I was completely satisfied with the overall experience: great customer service, friendly atmosphere, reasonable prices, and most importantly, my fresh new cut! Thanks Amy! The other hairdressers I have not tried; however, I would not mind going to them either. My first impression lasted so I will be back! See you soon ladies!

My sisters and friends always come here to get their hair dyed and cut by both Kary and Amy. Amy is my hairdresser and she is absolutely great. The prices are a steal, a cut ranges from 15 – 20 and highlights I believe ranges from 45 to 64 depending on your length. I usually just get a trim and some bangs. They are really good at creating side swept bangs and never regretted getting my bangs cut there. I have moved to California so it is hard to find a place that can cut my hair like Amy. I miss them! I usually try to get a cut every time I come back to Philly to visit and I am never disappointed with the results.

I love Kary’s salon! I always come here to get my hair colored & cut. After coming here, I would never trust my hair to any one else. Dina has done my hair from day 1 & she always does a great job. Kary & her sisters are so friendly & make you feel very comfortable. Prices are so reasonable and affordable & my hair looks great every single time!

The sisters do a great job at cuts, colors, and up-​do for special occasion. I agree with Lee H. with making an appointment because it is busy and there are only a few seats in the waiting area. Over all great salon for the prices.

Kary always cuts my hair and Deana always does my eyebrows. It can get busy here at times so call ahead to make an appointmeant. I’ve known Kary since she opened her salon!
