Here are some handy karaōke room tips!
#1 — Call for room availability and price before hand.
If you want to sing for 2 – 3 hours, you should probably make a decision before you call because they don’t like being mind readers. Depending on the day and the hour you arrive, the price will be different.
However, don’t call many weeks in advance to make a reservation because they will tell you to call back at a later time. Truth be told, it’s probably because they might lose your reservation somewhere down the line. For big parties, I would say 2 weeks in advance. For small groups, one week tops.
#2 — Songs are mostly Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese)
They have a okay selection of mainstream English and Korean songs, but if you are looking for very recent ones, don’t bother. You are entering a Chinese Karaōke joint. They generally cater to the Chinese audience.
#3 — Cost of room to Cost of food
I think they still do this, but it just isn’t applicable to alcohol. If you are paying $ 40/​hr for the room, you can order up $ 40 worth of food for «free». This explains why most of their food/​drinks are expensive. Note *** food options will be different from that
#4 — Alcohol and Drinks $$$$
It will be $$$ and it won’t taste that great (if someone’s going to make it for you).
#5 — There is a great chance your room is dirty
They probably don’t check to see if the bathroom is clean. If it looks visually clean by the doorway then that’s clean in their standards.
#6 — Karaōke System
There are many options including removing/​adding singers voice, changing the pitch of the song, increasing deceasing mic volume or song volume. Play around with the system a bit. If its in Chinese, you can tell them to switch it to English.
Almost every Chinese Karaōke bar/​lounge I’ve been to are the same or similar to K-​Top. Have your customer service expectations at zero because the workers don’t really care. Is there favoritism apparent? There sure is. One of my friend’s know the manager, and whenever I go with him, we get more attention. Whenever I don’t go with him, the service is slow.
If you want better quality, go to Yakitori Boy or Tango. I personally really like Yakitori boy compared to K-​Top but that comes at a price. You get what you pay for right?

Horrible service! The song selections are very limited. In general, you will pay way more for what you get at this place.

I was very disappointed when I came here with my friends recently. Although no smoking is allowed in the private rooms, the hallway is so pungent that even the rooms smell like smoke. My group paid for two hours, but the staff shut our tv down 20 minutes before our time was up and would not allow us to finish because they wanted to turn the room over to another party. The inconsiderate hosts interrupted at least four times to rush us out of the room even though we were not close to exceeding the time we paid for.
The food we ordered was greasy and cold in addition to being overpriced. The milk teas have a powdered taste, and like the food, were close to room temperature. Although we left our room to order and received no real service besides the delivery of our food and drink, an 18% gratuity was added to the check. This mandatory amount was never disclosed to us in writing (on the menu) or verbally and it was disappointing to be robbed of the opportunity to use our discretion in tipping.

I came here on a Sunday evening with three of my friends so we’re not a huge party. We were greeted with a few waiters waiting outside smoking and it already ruined our mood but we decided to not let it bother us much.
The food was ok and there weren’t a lot of songs but the thing that annoyed us the most was the fact that they just kicked us out even though we didn’t stay for the full two hours. The waiter was absolutely rude to us. On top of that, they automatically included a 18% tip even though we definitely wouldn’t have tipped that much for such a bad service.
I would not recommend this place for anyone who just wants to have a good time karaokeing

While we were on the clock 2 random staff just came in and started to fiddle with the door. No «hello excuse me we work here and have to fix something real quick» just started to fix the door. No hello no good bye and while we were paying for airtime?!

So let me start at the beginning ! Are you going into this place and absolutely loved it. So with that in mind I helped organize a birthday party for two of my friends when we originally try to book the room of course I ask 21 questions to make sure that we’re all understanding of what was to be expected I don’t like «surprises». So I called 3 weeks ahead of time which they said you have to make your reservation closer to event date which of the understandable so I called the following week ask the same questions got the same answers. One of the questions I asked was I want to book the room for 6 p.m. to nine or 10 how much would that be? Which they replied you can only do it from 6 to 8:30! Again being a business for myself I understand that they may have time limits. So was not a big deal however being the very OCD and very organized because again I do not like surprises room should cost no more than about $ 300 or so. However their menu online is not the same as what they actually have in the karaōke rooms. For example when I was planning this event I told everyone what we’re going to get an order to make the room affordable so the room is $ 300 then we really only have $ 300 worth of food order to cancel one of the other out. However I guess they caught on one that we only wanted sakae ($ 58) and told us all they had was Grey Goose ($ 123) from one bottle of sake last of course the one or two bottles of rum ($ 68). No problem the money wasn’t the issue until we got our bill of $ 647.26. Again no problem pretty much we just paid for a long amount of time in the room so I asked for an extension which day going to tell me they can’t do that cuz they’re booked so I said no problem since you guys have time limits such as we were told the next room is not available until 3 a.m.. Which makes me confused because how can a party have the room from 8:30 to 3 a.m. to make this stay about about 6 to 7 hours. They replied you should have made reservations earlier. Which I replied I try to but you guys told me I was only allowed to stay here till 8:30 and that was two weeks ago how come we were not given an option what you they replied because you don’t know the boss. So they were playing favoritism.
You just to break it down so far if I lost somebody along the way.
The online menu is not what’s available when you ask for a reservation. .

I just wanted to warn people not to patronize this restaurant. Rude. Inconsiderate. Unprofessional. Impolite. Crude and ignorant.

A good alternative to the others in Chinatown. Good service and music selection is decent.

This place is great for a fun time and food. Their prices are reasonable and you can cover the hourly fee with food. (Ex. If your room costs $ 78 per hour, you can order $ 78 worth of food from the menu to make it worth it!)
My only complaint is that the karaōke systems are difficult to use. It takes a while to figure out how to find specific songs, mute the original singer’s voice for solely instrumental, and how unorganized it becomes when you realize to find NEW songs, you can only scroll a LIST and not type it into the search engine…
Additionally, the serves will not alert you as to how much money you have left to spend on food to match up to the karaōke room price… I guess this is a smart way for them to maximize their profits but still.
Lastly, the bathrooms are pretty dirty. Each karaōke room has a private bathroom (which is convenient and great) but due to the excessive drinking that occurs, puke stains remain from previous sessions and the servers should be MUCH more attentive to this issue.
Overall, the atmosphere is very trendy and the service is adequate. They should be more aware of the complaints mentioned above though.

I did not except much from the food, but the I was pleasantly surprised. I had quite a few items and I enjoyed them very much.
The food were properly cooked, not too salty or bland. My chicken was crispy and the veggies were great! The fried rice was just ok though.
Give this place a try.

THIS ONLY APPLIES TO THE PRIVATE KARAOKE ROOMS.
I’ve never been so disgusted in my life.
1. Theres NO SOAP or PAPER TOWELS in ANY of the bathrooms. However there are gigantic bottles of pinesol in the bathroom if you MUST wash your hands. Also, they provide tissue boxes
2. They do not offer pitchers of water, not even tap. They will charge you $ 3 a bottle without telling you.
3. They took me to the room, and in the dark it looked clean, but then I slipped because the floors were just doused in pinesol and they didn’t even dry it. The floor got sticky in minutes without the help of alcohol.
4. There was still cake on the wall, cake lodged in the chairs, and cake on the toilet seat in the private room. GROSS.
5. The karaōke selection is not the most updated. The mics turn off randomly. Some of the songs didn’t even have LYRICS !!
6. There is barely any ventilation. For a room made for 20, it was already hot when i was in there alone waiting for everyone to arrive. There aren’t any settings for the room.
7. Food selection sucks and is separate from the food downstairs. If you want good food, go downstairs to the restaurant area to order and then you bring it upstairs.
I’ve been here downstairs in the restaurant and was pleasantly pleased. The private karaōke rooms were disgusting, unsanitary and needs major improvements. This seems like a place where people get shitfaced drunk and then the staff spot cleans. The price is on the same level as other karakoke bars in the area (Yakitori, Tango) I would expect great service, SOME food selections, and a CLEAN room.
I would never come back. Save your money, and go to Yakitori or Tango. You’d be full and drunk and still have a great time.

I have never been so disappointed in the karaōke venue in my entire life… I made a reservation a week before my party, a small room. One of the nice things that I liked when I read online about ktop was that each karaōke room has its own bathroom! When I checked out the bathroom in our room the toilet was filled with B L O O D (SERIOUSLY!!) AND the floor was covered in an unpromising liquid substance… I don’t know what it was because the floor is black but… I have a bad feeling I wouldn’t want to know anyway. When we told someone, they simply flushed the toilet and let us know to be aware that the toilet was broken but we could still use it (???; though to be fair it maybe been a language barrier problem and maybe he couldn’t explain what exactly was wrong with our toilet.) He also left the floor covered in whatever that was. Also, I am not exaggerating when I say that it was literally one fourth of the floor was flooded with whatever that ominous liquid was next to the toilet. I ended up requesting a different room, (one wasn’t offered to me) and thankfully they complied… But this room wasn’t much better. At first glance it looked pretty with the glowing lights and everything but it was very dirty and there was no toilet paper in the bathroom… We ended up having to use the box of tissues (go Kleenex!) that was in the room.
The food was… firstly the online menu is totally different from the actual menu… There was no japchae, no pineapple fried rice, no pad thai, no drunken noodles… Nothing that could pass as a full entrée or even was sized big enough to be shared! Instead we was just overpriced, under (or over) cooked appetizers and a variety of milk teas. An example is the potato shrimp which u have had else where and love– the outside was browned crispy but the inside was soft and pale raw potato… it didn’t even cook well to the center… A lot of the food (crab Rangoon, lamb skewers, even the potato shrimp) was cold on arrival. Honestly it was just embarrassing… I can’t imagine the chef themselves eating their own food and dm very surprised by the honestly terrible quality of the meals…
The karaōke was alright. Quite a few of the songs were just music videos without lyrics and as such, they still had the voices of the actual singers, making it more of an unofficial singalong and somewhat defeating the purpose of karaōke. The song selection could’ve been a lot better and one of our mics was dead. We asked for another… it also died. (We were only there for 2.5 hours, too…) All in all, it was extremely disappointed and wish I could get all two and a half of those hours back spent searching for common songs that weren’t there. I will not be returning to this establishment, nor will I be recommending it to anyone. It’s a shame that there aren’t more karaōke venues in Chinatown that allow for underage guests because I really wanted to enjoy taking my younger friends and associates out… I guess I’ll just wait till they’re all 21 and take them to something a little more together.

Thursday night and there is no one to fight with you for the microphone. But the way our group sang, people would probably be scared off anyways.
Just finished at the gym and from running over from the car in the freezing cold we were pretty hyper. The lady did not mind 3 crazy girls «singing» while waiting for 2 others and people from the kitchen did peek out to see who was dying. Thank you for dealing with us! Haha
Crab Rangoon — deep fried wonton wrappers filled with cream cheese and crab; 6 for $ 5 and they weren’t tiny ones either.
Dolsot Bibimbap in a sizzling rice bowl $ 11 ahhhhhhhh! Love it!
Pineapple Fried Rice $ 12. I’m not a huge fan of fried rice but it comes in a pineapple! This dish was finished by the table — just not much help from me!
It would be interesting to work at a karaōke place for a day — maybe. We’ll be back! On a night that is not busy =)

Food is decent, but stay for the karaōke rooms! They’re honestly not that expensive (you can order food and drinks to cover the price of the karaōke rooms!), and by far some of the nicest I’ve seen. They have pretty decent music choices, and your room comes with plenty of seating and even a private bathroom! Definitely necessary if you have some pukers amongst your group…
The alcohol was watered down, and my mojito only had mint — no lime?! People were fighting over the chicken wings (I think we were just hungry though), and the rest of the bar food was all right as well. But it’s okay; you won’t mind that your food isn’t top-​notch because you’ll be too drunk and having a great time karaōke-​ing!

I really wanted to like this place…
It’s actually not that I disliked it, it’s just that I paid $ 12 for a drink that tasted HORRIBLE. Stay away from the Long Island Iced Tea (no alcohol at all. and tasted really weird). The crab rangoon was way too sweet and our fried chicken was bloody… Everything on the menu was deep fried or just sounded yucky.
They allow people to smoke in restaurants in Philly??? We reeked of cigarette smoke after our night ended.
The highlight of it all was that my fam and I pre-​gamed and were already pretty loose by the time we got there. enough where we could actually enjoy the karaōke which was pretty fun. I just wish the drink prices were cheaper, the food tastier and actually done, and no cigarette poisoning.

Awesome karaōke restaurant! K-​Top might be the new kid on the block, but you wouldn’t know it by how efficiently the place is run.
The ambiance here really kicks it up another notch. Private rooms are perfectly suited to groups of all sizes, and each has a private bathroom and plenty of comfortable seating. The bar food we had was just OK, but I didn’t expect much anyways. The staff here is on-​point as well. Thumbs up all around.
I’ll be back to try the rest of the food!

What a magically, wonderful, drunk experience!
My friends and I stumbled upon this place and between the three of us, ended up racking up a $ 100 check. Everything on the menu looked absolutely wonderful, so we might have gotten a little carried away.
Just a note — we DID order the «bibimbap» (aka «dolsot» as mentioned below in another review), and in our drunken state, we did not eat it properly. As the owner pointed out here on Unilocal,you are supposed to mix the dish thoroughly in the super-​heated bowl before eating. That we didn’t do! Which explains why our rice got burned. It was completely our fault, though, but the server was kind enough to not only take the «dolsot» off our check, but also give us an additional 20% discount! This is obviously a restaurant that takes pride in what they do.
Overall, the food was spot on, and came out promptly. We never felt neglected or forgotten.
The food’s presentation — even at 12:30 am — still gave the impression that a lot of thought and care was put into it. Of all the Asian restaurants in China town, this one definitely stands out, if not just for the amazing service.
Oh, and apparently there is karaōke here (which unfortunately we did not take advantage of), so you and your friends can sing to your heart’s content in one of their private karaōke rooms. They are open until 3:00 am, so if you want a beer after the bars close at 2:00, take a detour to China town! Grab a bite, sing your favorite song, and enjoy an ice cold Kirin Ichiban.

The food is great, the drinks are strong, and the karaōke is a blast!
A descent selection of English songs, but still a great time. Haven’t used the dining area yet, but the karaōke rooms are great! They have big leather couches, even the small rooms are very spacious, and each room comes with a private bathroom which is so convenient, perfect for a party!
The staff is very nice, the waitresses are fast. The first time we went, one of the microphones was having an issue, the manager came in immediately to fix it. The key to this place is the customer service, the stylish rooms, and the speed at which drinks and food comes out. They are very attentive of their guests’ needs.
The price is also very good, but tricky to understand. Basically you rent the room for a flat rate per hour, but that rate is like a credit that goes towards your tab. So for instance we did a small room for $ 38 per hour, that $ 38 is like a piggy bank of money that you spend on food and drinks every hour. You can always order more of course, I only explain this concept here, because the first time I went I had no idea what the young lady was talking about, so I hope this helps others!
The other thing I have to say which is amazing, this place has a lot of hours of operation. The karaōke rooms are open from 4pm – 3am! Also of course, right next to the building is 9^th and Race Chinatown Parking which is super cheap. Makes a great combination to sing for a few hours with friends, and you only have to walk a little ways from the parking garage to the store front.

This restaurant used to be Sammy Chon until they closed down for renovation. They recently opened and as far as I’m concerned, they have a 30% off your entire meal until the end of June 2014.
The restaurant features a fusion of Asian meals: Korean, Japanese, Chinese and Thai. While the list was extensive, I decided to have beef japchae. It was great! I would definitely come back to try other meals they have in their menu. Glad we have a Korean restaurant here in Chinatown!

Had a great time here in one of the private karaōke rooms. You only had to spend 40 $ an hour to reserve the room (half of what yakatori boy costs).
Our waiter was KC and he was amazing. He was quick with the drinks and food. Constantly checking back if we needed anything.
The private room was cool with its own air conditioning unit and touch screen. We got to DJ our own songs with a huge flat screen TV.
The food was also great. I got the fried rice in a pineapple and my friends all got the pad Thai. Both were incredible. The pineapple friend rice was one of the best Asian food I have had in a love time. We will be coming back for sure.
