The owner is very approachable and friendly! He is willing to take any suggestions and is doing a great job with changing the place around! I love the hours and the equipment has everything I need. Reasonably priced and great environment!

Is this a state of the art gym? No. Does it have all the equipment you need to get a great workout in for all your muscle groups. YES and then some. Honestly if you want to go to a gym that has all the weights in chronological order and not exceed 80 pounds go up the street and join planet fitness. Which is also a great deal at only 20 dollars a month. But with this place I can keep my dignity every time I walk in the door. I have been a member at many gyms, Golds gym being the most recent. Every time I’ve had to cancel a membership it has always been through ABC Financial. And they always suck! But I’m not about to lose gainz over a shitty financial firm. Other than that the staff is friendly and the members are courteous.

I live close to this gym and joined for that reason. Paid for a year upfront and saved some money. Gym has all the equipment I need and they’re working on a full spa which should be nice. Only con for me is I wish they had more group fitness.

I live a couple blocks from this gym, so for me, it was convenient and the price was very reasonable to be honest. There are quite a bit of large francaise fitness centers that charge way too much. The facility isn’t spectacular but they really do have all the equipments you need to work out. There are 2 levels. Upper level consist of treadmills and ellipticals. The lower level include all the weights and machines. In addition, there is a nice size studio room with mirrors on 2 walls.
Best of all, they offer classes that is included in the price of the gym membership. I must say that the classes are truly worth attending and the instructors really do give you quite a work out. This gym probably has one of the best zumba instructor. Erin incorporates a lot of today’s pop music as well as some really good latin music (bachata, salsa, reggaeton). She does a lot of cardio and toning as well. I love it so much that I rarely miss a class.
The gym gets crowded around 5−7pm as expected.

Treadmills and ellipticals always broken. It’s the exception instead of the rule to see someone wipe down a machine when finished. Canceled my membership and continued to be charged for another 4 months. Had to cancel the card all together to have the bills stop.

My largest issue has been that working out here has been the equivalent to working out in a sauna. Yes, gyms should be slightly warm to keep muscles from tensing. This is taken slightly beyond that comfortable zone, to the point that you’re literally dripping sweat one mile into your run, that you haven’t seen on your 12 mile runs outdoors. Besides that, you pay for what you get. I feel that I’ve paid for a fan or air conditioning. But equipment is in decent shape– I haven’t had to wait for a single machine. Regardless of time of day. Just as a warning: Bring your own towel.

Great, laid back staff. Good equipment and decent space. Still under going renovations but for the price that’s paid it appears to be a good gym for those primarily concerned with weight lifting.

I was a member of Intoxx fitness for 2 years when I lived in Manayunk back in 2010 and 2011. When I moved out of Manayunk, I tried to cancel my subscription. You can’t cancel in store, but have the run around of trying to get their holding company on the line. TWICE I was told by ABC holding co. that I had successfully cancelled, only to have my credit card be billed again during their auto billing for the next month. Third times a charm, right? They confirmed that I had successfully cancelled after 2 months of trying… WRONG.
Flash forward 3 years… I join Sweat fitness (it’s apart of the same holding company) only to have them tell me that my account (from my Intoxx days) is 3 years past due and I owe over $ 2,000 in back payment/​late fees and is about to be given to a collections agency. Their computer system had my phone number, email address, and credit card info on file and in 3 years, I never heard from them. I, of course, spoke with a manager at Sweat who said there was a note on my account from 2011 that had me switched from automatic billing to manual billing. I never saw a bill.
It was pure luck that I happened to join Sweat at that time, and it was pure luck that they happened to be apart of the same holding company. Otherwise, my account would have been sold to a third party collections agency that had no intel on what really happened.
BUYER BEWARE!!! And check and recheck that you’re able to cancel membership…

New owner seems to be a great guy, gym is low price. I don’t tan but its been added. Previously all of the equipment was broken and the gym had a lot of wasted space, new owner cleaned and painted everything. all equipment is in working order now. The space has been optimized so that it makes sense. Locker room & showers have been cleaned and fixed. I cant say enough about the good work by new owner, very excited to see the gym turn around so quickly.
Also the gym has PARKING… in Manayunk that’s tough to beat

I would NOT recommend joining this gym! It’s a trick; don’t do it. During December, there were 5 functional treadmills (out of 13). January saw that numer slide to 4, and now there are 3 functional treadmills in the place. THREE! Hell will likely freeze over before they fix them. Also, they also must have fired the guys who would occasionally mop the floors because the place is turbo dirty. They rarely ever have paper towels to wipe down the equipment. I have been a member for about 2 years, and have become really disappointed in how terrible this place has become over the last 6 months. There is a Planet Fitness on Ridge roughly 0.5 miles away; do yourself a favor and check it out before you join Intoxx… I’m sure their equipment is functional at least.

I’ve been a member here for about 3 years now. It’s always been pretty shabby, but ever since they poured every last cent they had into the «renovations», it’s gone pretty downhill. There’s a lot if equipment for lifting, so if you’re looking for a close and cheap place to lift then this is a good bet. But if you’re looking for any sort of cardio, move on. This morning 8 treadmills were broken. That left only 5 working. And most of those treadmills have been broken for several weeks now. I live 2 blocks away and I’m thinking of switching to driving up to Planet Fitness instead. It seems simple, when something breaks you fix it. You don’t leave an «out of order, sorry for the inconvenience» sign taped on there for a month. Very frustrating

4 stars simply because it’s only $ 20 a month. I didn’t realize this place wasn’t so bad until I joined the LA Fitness in King of Prussia, that place is horrible though. With that sad, there are a few other things I liked about this place and a few I didn’t. I liked that there was always parking, there are plenty of times when it’s not so crowded in there, they just renovated it and it looks a lot better, equipment and machines were pretty good, bikes had built-​in fans, ample supply of free weights and benches. Things I don’t like were the recent uptick in crossfit people, the heavy ropes they put in are just loud and annoying, when the kids working the counter would use the music as their personal ipod and they’d flip through dozens of stupid and a lot of inappropriate songs, and finally when the kid working there started hanging pictures of himself with his shirt off to pass off as a workout ad, that was way too much. Overall, a good place to join though. I appreciate a gym not trying to kill your wallet for once.

This gym seems like a family owned establishment. The staff isn’t going to force training on you and they won’t haggle with you about price.

Really… dont expect much… its to convenient for me not to be a member here tho.2 blocks away and $ 20 a month… They are making improvement, new mirrors, painting, remodel the rooms, etc… but they really… really need to upgrade the equipment! the treadmills are terrible! some you cant run on because they are broke and do not say broke on them. When start running on the one your foot stops the belt and you can easily fall! It would be nice for bigger TVs… PLEASE GET A ROW MACHINE!!! The employees are a bit lazy but i dont blame them. Its nice to go at night because its not crowded and its the same people all the time! They do offer spin and yoga classes. I have not tried them because you pay a little extra! So if you are close to it and dont want to pay the price of a nice gym like Sweat then try it!

This could be one of the worst establishments I have ever walked into. I live right down the street and figured I’d give this place a shot… The people at the front desk were very rude. The «manager» was very unprofessional and would not get off the phone to answer a question. I couldn’t even get a proper tour of the facility. This place is pathetic!
They do not give out day passes, which was not a big deal. It will cost you $ 10 to check out the gym… IT IS NOT WORTH IT!!!

I joined Unilocal just to review this piece of crap gym. The temperature is never comfortable. During the winter it’s too hot because they have the heat on, then during the summer it’s too hot because they have no AC.
I cancelled my membership because I was moving across the country (after I was a member for a year and 6 months) and they said they had to take my membership out of on hold status to cancel it (billing me $ 25 for one month even though I was 3000 miles away) and they said after that it would be cancelled and I wouldn’t be billed.
But, I was billed again and when I called the woman was extremely rude telling me I hadn’t been a member year (well, I have been a member for a year and half so who knows what she’s talking about). And was angry that I wanted to be refunded $ 5 for what they billed me for the month. Completely rude and unhelpful.
She didn’t believe me that I had cancelled in the first place and kept saying there was no record. Well, when I cancelled I had to come in to fill out forms. SO where the hell are the forms I filled out? RIDIC!
Equipment is old and crappy.

Since the gym is now under new management, I feel the need to update my review from 3 stars up to 4 stars.
The new management has been extremely responsive to any of my needs. I believe that the owner is actually at the gym for the majority of its operating hours — putting in time and effort to get Intoxx up to where it needs to be. While this is still a $ 20/​mo gym — and it shows in some places — there have been renovations that have brought vast improvements over the past months. One of my favorite things is the $ 10/​mo for added tanning. Tanning up the street costs me $ 17 to go ONCE — so this is a nice savings. The other thing I like about Intoxx is all of the SPACE. You’re not working out right on top of other people — even during peak hours.

I did their $ 14 for 14 offer here. The gym is just a *tad* bit below average, but for 19.99 a month, it’s understandable. The quality of the machines is a bit below average; a lot of the machines are copies of hammer strength machines and are just not comfortable to use. They have all of your standard equipment, from treadmills to squat racks. You can do whatever workout you’re looking for here whether you’re a beginner or an advanced meathead, but again, I think the equipment is a bit sub-​par.
The staff is as friendly and as nice as you would expect, nothing above or below your expectations.
If I didn’t live so close to this location, I wouldn’t drive here to work out. I’d look into LA Fitness or even much better, East Falls Fitness.

You definitely get what you pay for with this gym. It’s only 20 bucks a month, but it definitely left a lot to be desired. The major issues that I had were:
–There is not a very good variety of cardio equipment.
–Cleanliness — the workout area itself is not very clean and the items to «wipe down» equipment is often out of stock.
–Customer Service — From the billing agency to the people that work there, the customer service was lacking. I had several billing issues with this gym and it took many calls to the billing management to finally get everything worked out. Plus the people that work there often act like they would rather be anywhere else.
However the biggest issue I had was AIR CONDITIONING
— I am not sure if this space HAS air conditioning, but if they do you would never know. In the summer months it gets ridiculously hot in the gym. There seems to be little to no temperature regulation (except perhaps propping the door open), which just makes working out here not an enjoyable experience.
I was a member here for a year and canceled my membership, I am glad that I did!

I would recommend this gym, but some flaws in customer service make it pretty unappealing. I wouldn’t be surprised if staff members gossiped behind the counter, as mentioned above.
Also, I think its a franchise, but it is still run like a typical large-​scale gym chain– automatic billing, year long contract that is difficult to end, despite change in residence. Be sure to cancel your membership a month in advance, apparently it takes 30 days to process.
