INEXPENSIVE MOVING SOLUTIONS

In my 40+ years of life I’ve never hired a moving company. That all changed today and boy am I pleasantly surprised. I found Adelphia on Unilocal so I knew I was already on the right track. I called at the last minute to set it up bc that crazy 20+ inches of snow we got (1÷23−24÷2016. From the minute Rich and Ray showed up we knew we made a great choice. They were prompt, called to notify us of their eta, very pleasant, courteous, friendly, accommodating, extremely respectful of our belongings, they worked hard and quick but never compromised the safety of themselves or our belongings. They went above and beyond for us a couple times as well. I honestly can’t come up with adjectives to express what I want to convey. THANK YOU RICH AND RAY SO SOOOOOOO VERY MUCH! I hope we won’t have to move anytime soon but the next time we do, I know who I’m calling and I pray Rich and Ray are still there! Lol if they aren’t there, I may call a different company lmao. Finding movers was the most scary thing about my move. I called around to a lot of companies. I settled on Adelphia Movers for a number of reasons. First, being talked to like a real person from Dave, the price, and the willingness to accommodate my schedule. We were doing two settlements in one day and we decided that taking my belongings the day before and storing them would be the best way to move. John, Dave, and Jim handled my move. They showed up on time and handled my belongings very carefully. They were fast and efficient all while doing this in the rain. They even went to my storage unit to retrieve those belongings as well. The next day, they showed up to the new house on time and unfortunately had to wait around as the person I bought the house from movers were still there, long story, however they waited with no problem and when I was finally able to have them start unloading they were very fast. All of my belongings arrived with no damage. I would highly recommend Adelphia if you would like no hidden costs, very competitive prices, and hard workers.

The guys at Adelphia Movers did a great job moving my beloved old Vandercook printing press this week. They gave me a firm quote, confirmed the move ahead of time, let me know their ETA that morning, and had my 700# press strapped and on the truck in short order. Safely. They moved it into its new home with little apparent trouble and no damage. And they were cheerful! Thanks so much, Adelphia!

I was having trouble finding a decent moving company for which I dont have to sell half my furniture to pay for the move! Luckily, I came across Adelphia on Unilocal.
Alex and Justin did a great job in moving my 1BR apartment from a 3^rd floor walk up to a 3^rd floor walkup. The whole process took 3.5 hours (plus 1 hour of travel fees) and with the Unilocal coupon, the final price was very reasonable. These guys were courteous, took good care of my stuff and nothing was damaged. They also made sure to keep the stuff where I wanted it to be in the new apartment.
I would not hesitate to hire them again!

Jim was great him and his team moved us from Center City to South Philly with out an issue very Careful not to Damage any of our Belongings. What I liked most about this Business is that it’s family owned and operated and the Owner was on site Working next to his guys!!! You don’t really see that much but again I will be using them again if we decide to move in the future.

Moving is stressful, expensive, and stressful, especially for a longer distance move (150 miles). Finding a mover to help reduce the level of stress at a fair price was not going to be easy, considering that there are many moving services in our area to choose from (Philadelphia). After obtaining many quotes, we decided to hire Adelphia movers. The price was extremely attractive, the terms were reasonable (industry standards), and the reviews were good. Dave and John showed up on time on moving day. Dave surveyed the house and then they went straight to working. They were hustlers, but not the type to get into a hurry just to get the job done. They worked quickly, but took their time to protect our furniture during the move out of the house and when packed into the truck. They even managed to move an armoire that was EXTREMELY large, heavy and cumbersome (this piece was so awkward that we thought we might have to leave it behind). Everything went smoothly– much better than we ever expected.
Dave, John, and Adelphia performed all tasks professionally, quickly, and with the care that you would personally give to your belongings– and at a price that could not be beat. And, there wasn’t any stress! Dave and John relieved us of that problem. They’re both great guys. We will recommend Adelphia Moving to anybody we know in the future, without hesitation. These guys are excellent! I will never go back to trying to move my crap myself. I wound up having way more stuff than I originally thought and they were still able to move everything and break down my bed frame in an hour. These guys are tanks and also really nice. I will definitely use them again if I need to move again. Also get the Unilocal deal, it’s very very worth it!

Used this company to move a few blocks up the street. I just had a few pieces of furniture that I needed to move and they came in and completed the move extremely fast. They had very reasonable prices, and with the Unilocal voucher it was a steal. would definitely recommend.

I have only one critique of my experience with Adelphia, and it’s the only reason this isn’t a 5-​star review. They showed up late, but they did call me that morning to let me know. Other than that, it went perfectly. They moved my things with care, professionalism, and a positive attitude (including to a 4^th floor walkup at my destination). The price was extremely competitive, and none of my items were broken or damaged. I would highly recommend Adelphia for moving services.

Adelphia Moving graciously agreed to move my sister and I, despite us only calling a few days before. Rich and Dave arrived on time. They moved 5 large pieces of furniture down a flight of steps and 20 boxes without a complaint and with ease. They were extremely quick and diligent, with the entire move lasting only 2.5 hours. I highly recommend them and will absolutely use them for my moving needs in the future.

Jim handled a rush job for a large property on Delancey Place in Philadelphia. They did the a great job for a huge property in a short amount of time. I would give their number and info again.

Hired these guys to move a large heavy China set and two bed sets. The trip involved one pickup and two drop off locations. They showed up around the time agreed with a phone call saying they were on the way. They had a large truck with more then enough space for our needs. With two men strong enough to manage the move. They wrapped the valuable items with what had to be $ 10 in HD plastic wrap to protect them. Used padded covers when setting everything in the truck. Took care to not ding everything up. They were your general blue collar professionals. They even dismantled and reassembled two dresser mirrors plus the china cabinet glass. The foreman mentioned a extra charge but I wasn’t changed and i was grateful for not having to do the extra work myself. Over all I’m happy I didn’t have to break my back moving again. The job came in under the quoted price also. Win-​win. If I move in the Philly area again, I will reuse them.

I found the company on Thumbtack, and then came here to find a coupon. There were lots of positive reviews on Thumbtack so I trusted the simple volume. Worked with Mike Howe and his assistant Adam today. Move only took five hours, with a bedroom, a living room and a kitchen’s worth of stuff. We were able to load everything in a large moving van and do it all in one trip. The guys made loading easy (because we had them all in boxes) so they just carried everything out the door and into the truck. One tip is to not take apart furniture; they could handle a medium sized sofa fine, and it probably would have taken more time and more trips if they were in pieces. Do take out the clothing from the drawers, but unless a dresser is going up three flights of stairs, keep the shelves in because they get wrapped and moved as a unit.
They handled the wrapping and padding inside the truck so our furniture was not damaged. At the destination they were able to get all the heavy stuff up three flights of stairs, something we’re glad we didn’t have to do. The guys were courteous, funny, down to earth, and explained everything they did very clearly, and often asked us for guidance to make sure they were moving things the right way. Add in a Unilocal discount and this was definitely the best for the price, but even at higher rates it would have been a great professional job. But if you do get the Unilocal discount, make sure to print out a paper copy because they need the copy.

After confirming three weeks in advance, and being told that their schedule was free, they no-​showed on the day of the move.
On the day of the move, they called us — after we expected them to be there. That’s when they let us know that they had booked other moves instead. They told us that they would be able to still move us, but not until 2 pm. Then they called back and said noon, and eventually called back and switched it back to 2 pm. This was all quite stressful, as we lived in a high-​rise, and are required to move out using the freight elevator, which is only available from 10:00 (when they were supposed to start), until 4:00. It costs $ 200 to reserve this elevator, and we really didn’t want to have to reserve it again. Eventually, around noon, they called us back and said they weren’t able to move us, and they had called another moving company and that the second company had agreed to move us instead. That company, on very short notice, arrived about 2:00, but, unfortunately, Adelphia had not communicated the job properly, so they were not prepared. They only brought two guys, did not bring furniture pads, or even a dolly! This caused the move to go slowly, and we were only able to get everything moved out because the maintenance men at my building allowed us to use the elevator for almost three hours longer than we were supposed to. Once we arrived at our new house, a friend and I helped the movers unload things, just so that it would get done — which we finally finished moving everything in an hour before midnight.
Since posting this review initially, Adelphia contacted me and told me that the issue was that they had no contact information for us, as we booked through a third-​party site called Thumbtack. However, we were not aware of this problem, and they did not reach out to us in any way (including via Thumbtack) to ask for more information until the day before the move. If they had reached out to us initially asking for more details, this could have all been avoided.

They were fast and efficient. They helped me with the date of the move. They moved everything quickly and without a mark on any of my walls. They didn’t need any special equipment and all my furniture didn’t have any scratches or ‘nicks’. They helped me rearrange my furniture and gave me a good deal.
They are my ‘go to’ moving company from now on

Dave and Jim are the best. The entire experience went very smoothly. We will use them again without even bothering to check with anyone else next time! They handled our stuff very well, no scratches and in great time. Moving to a new place was made stress free.
We used them for loading and unloading, they got their own truck which saved us the hassle of dealing with UHaul. We had a 1-​bedroom apartment and a 11 mile move and they must have moved everything in 3 hours even with our extremely slow elevator. We had around 12 – 15 boxes and various other small items like a lack table etc plus the other usual furniture like a couch, tv stuff, bed, dresser, dining table set etc. We had disassembled some furniture beforehand so that saved time. They packed the furniture very well in their truck. I was confident nothing would fall off. Their pricing was also very very reasonable and there were no hidden costs.

I want to start off by warning customers of the crooks that make up the fabric of the excuse of a company called Adelphia Moving. Although it was mainly my fault as I found this company on craigslist and trusted that they would be anywhere near professional with their services. I am the person who likes to believe that there is still decency in this world and that even in the darkest and dirtiest corners of the internet, there is still hope. Although this was another reminder for me that the very fabric of a company that does business strictly over Craigslist without their own website or without any company information on BBB or the SEC is most likely full of crooks and frauds, I will not falter in my belief that there are still honest people on this website.
I would like to emphasize again that I am not in any way bashing Craigslist and their company and in no way, shape, or form should Craigslist be held responsible for the crooks that mimic legitimate companies and post on their classified sections.
There were 3 major problems with this company.
1. (FIRST PROBLEM) Dave, the man who was listed in the advertisement on Craigslist, initially quoted me $ 100 an hour. After doing some research they were too expensive so I decided not to go with them. That night he called and left a voicemail stating that he can be competitive with the pricing and that he will negotiate a better deal. I called him back and then we made a deal to move for $ 85 an hour and he confirmed with his partners. The next day he calls texts me back (NO PHONE CALL) and says that after crunching numbers he would not be able to make enough money on $ 85 an hour after all fees are paid. He said that he cannot go lower than $ 100. Because I was busy that entire week and I already had this place picked out I decided to work with this guy and do $ 95 an hour for the move. Although I did not like this cat and mouse game that this company was playing to try and get more money out of me I was willing to pay more as long as everything went as planned. We agreed and everything was set in place such as time, location, prices, etc.
2. (SECOND PROBLEM) As a company who claims that they are insured, bonded, and legitimate, I asked for 2 things — a contract and company information. I have worked with many other moving companies in the past and all the other companies requested that I sign an agreement/​contract and they are more than willing to give me all of their credentials (because they have nothing to hide). That evening I get the following response, again through a text message:
«We can give you proof of insurance with our contract on the day of the move. We cant disclose company information such as insurance information due to competitive confidentiality because the reputation and survival of our small company relies on that confidentiality.»
I looked this information up and could find out no information on competitive confidentiality. It was also very concerning that they would not even give me a contract to sign before the move. A contract is an agreement that binds the movers to their promises and so they are obligated to do the work they promised. Without this contract then they can do whatever they want without being bound to anything. Because I was in need of movers I decided to trust them and so I waited till the day of the move to get the contract and information for the company.
3. (THIRD PROBLEM) The day of the move comes and they call at 8:58am and because I was busy moving things around and getting ready for the move I couldnt get their call and I returned their call back at 9:10am (12 minutes after the call). They did not pick up my phone calls until 10:38am. The reason they picked up at 10:38am (i used another phone that had a completely different phone number).
I asked them, «where are you guys and when should we expect your arrival?»
Dave «sorry we called you and you didnt pick up.»
*hangs up* *adds both numbers to reject list*
There is absolutely no information on these guys on the internet and I want to prevent these crooks from affecting other people. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
