Great customer service. Super responsive. I submitted an email request for a quote and Joe called right away to set up an appointment. He was able to meet with me the very next day and promptly provided a few different options for the work we’d discussed. He was also flexible with our scheduling and we were able to book the job quickly. The floors were finished one day ahead of schedule and we could not be more pleased with the results. The floors look absolutely stunning! Definitely will recommend Hudson Hardwood to anyone looking to have work done on their wood floors.

Great communication. Reasonable price. Joe got the job done within a very tight window– we bought a new (to us) house and wanted the hardwoods recoated before we moved our furniture in. Joe also came to our house and showed us a few different poly finishes so we could better decide what finish we wanted. Our hardwoods look beautiful and I’m so glad we got them done!

I’ve been putting off writing this review for quite some time because, honestly, it took me some time to gather my thoughts and gain some valuable hindsight. The truth is that working with Joe Hudson of Hudson hardwood was one of the best decisions I made in my renovation.
My family and I made the decision to buy a 200 year old farmhouse that needed a lot of work. Me — lacking what some might call intelligence or good judgement — decided to undertake the renovation myself with no previous experience. Part of the plan called for new floors in a few rooms, refinishing some 200 year old floors, and various other fixes and improvements.
I had a few flooring contractors come out and look around. They never followed up, either out of fear of the job or not liking me or whatever. Not with joe. I called joe and he answered immediately. An hour later he was in my house. That alone is almost unheard of in the world of contractors, but what came next was simply priceless.
I have particular tastes and a limited budget, so after talking it over with joe I decided I would do the installation and he would do the sanding and finishing (the parts I knew I would probably seriously mess up). Of course, nothing I wanted was easy or mainstream. I wanted 5″ white oak and I wanted a woca oil finish in two rooms. 5″ white oak in my house, in this area of the country, is somewhat demanding to install. Joe helped me through it. He gave me advice. He problem solved with me. He let me borrow tools. He directed me to resources. He was flat out worth his weight in gold. When it came time to do the finishing he again made me realize what a fantastic decision I had made. He turned 200 year old abused pine into the most beautiful floor I’ve ever seen. He fixed neglect and wear. And of course he made the new floors look absolutely amazing. All the while he was so easily available via text, email, and phone. I really can’t tell you how invaluable that is in any contractor.
Joe worked around my schedule. He delivered on time and on budget. He was professional, easy to work with, flexible, and one of the reasons I was able to get the job done in the ridiculously aggressive timeline I had worked out. He was a true pleasure to work with. My only regret is that he specializes in floors, because I would’ve hired him to do everything in my house.

I used Hudson Hardwood to refinish about 1200 sq feet or original pine floors and a staircase in my 100 year old home in Brewerytown. I was very lucky that Joe was able to schedule my work on short notice and he started within a couple days. The floors turned out great and Joe and his crew were easy to work with. The quality and service offered by Hudson is as high as any contractor I’ve ever worked with, which says something as I’ve been working as a GC for over 8 years. I would highly recommend Hudson Hardwood for any wood flooring work you have, especially refinishing of old flooring, Joe knows his stuff.

Let’s face it, getting your wood floors refinished is not easy, but Joe did a fantastic job at accommodating us through the whole process. He is very passionate about what he does and it shows in the quality of my finished floors. Joe is responsive, he always got back to me quickly and made sure I was updated on the progress of the floors. He went above and beyond (worked during the weekend and 4^th of July) to get me back in my house when I needed to be back in. The dustless sanding system that he uses is fantastic. I was very nervous about having dust everywhere because my floor plan is extremely open, but with the vacuums he uses the amount of dust left looked like I hadn’t dusted for a couple of days. We were actually able to live in the house during the sanding process, though we decided against staying in the basement during the coats. Our son managed to, the water based product we chose wasn’t horribly smelly. I got several estimates before deciding on Hudson Hardwood. His price was pretty much in the middle of the pack, but well worth it. Joe takes a lot of care in the whole process and your floors will show it.

Matter has been resolved to the satisfaction of all parties.

My brothers and I were under a tight schedule to refinish the floors in our mother’s home and knew we did not want to tackle that kind of a job ourselves. I found Hudson Hardwoods through a Unilocal recommendation and contacted Joe. He was incredibly responsive and professional, sending a proposal with various options to ensure we were spending our money wisely. In addition, he made time in his schedule to accommodate our aggressive timeframe. Joe has an incredible work ethic and is extremely personable and easy to work with. I had to travel while the work was in progress and felt I could trust him to work diligently without me being there. Joe sent me written updates and pictures at the end of every day! The results were absolutely fantastic. My mother’s floors never looked better! Don’t bother researching any other providers. Hudson Hardwood Floors is the answer!

I’ve been a GC in Philly for 10 years and was in a pinch for a hardwood floor contractor. I found Hudson hardwood on the internet, contacted him and he came out that day!!! We discussed what needed to be done, agreed on price and Joe was there the next day to get my job started. Hudson knew I was under a tight deadline and worked day and night to make sure the floor was finished. At the end I was 110% satisfied with everything Hudson Hardwood had to offer and wok performed. To this day I use Hudson Hardwood for all of my jobs!!!

I called Hudson while in a bind as my other flooring guy bailed on me last minute and needed to get this room ready for new tenants. Couldn’t have been happier with the results. He cared for the end product as if the room were in his own house and maintained a respect for the old wood that you just can’t match anymore. There were even 2 original planks that were too warped to be salvaged, yet Joe found a way to get wood and stain that was close enough that it was able to match the original perfectly. He worked with my pressing schedule and was a pleasure to hire.

Hudson did a great job installing brand new floors in our Kensington office and working some magic to make them look antiquated and unique. His crew was clean, efficient, and friendly as well.

I used Joe Hudson to refinish the soft bamboo floors in my condo. After interviewing many people who should have known that our particular floors were very soft (Many said they were shocked at all the scratches and dents– they claimed that bamboo was the hardest flooring!), I decided to go with Joe because of his expertise and knowledge of all things hardwood. His price reflected it, since he was more expensive than the other companies who’s knowledge of hardwood types were lacking. It is good to be reminded that you get what you pay for. One company said they would be done in one day! I couldn’t believe that I would get good results in one day. Joe took a week to do my floors, which was fine because we had already vacated the premises. His system is dustless, which is a huge bonus regardless if you are still living in the home or not. That dust is a pain to clean up! I know, we had it done before… Back to Joe. He was professional and communicated very well, even sending pictures via text to show me his progress since I was out of town. He filled the deep gashes in my floor with the same colored putty and then followed with 3 coats of water based floor coating, then 1 coat of sealer. It is very important to note that he used water based floor coating, as many professionals stay away from it due to the tricky nature of getting a good finish. The pro’s of water based system are many, but I prefer it because it is considered ‘green’ compared to the more hazardous oil based one. (Do your research– you’ll be glad you did!) The fact that he did 3 coats is great, since other companies claimed one coat would be enough. You could be the judge of that– but my floors are gorgeous now! I went with Joe even though I didn’t see many online reviews. It was totally worth it. GO WITH HIM! You won’t regret it!
